Sinner is the guy I am most afraid of my guy to face.

Let's see but Sinner is too strong now.
If Etcheverry could push Sinner to three sets then Djokovic could win this. I don't think Djokovic is going to win but I also never bet against him. The fact that Sinner and Carlos can only get the best of Djokovic now convinces me that they are not on the same level and are only competitive with him because of his age.

this site is full of self-described experts in the art of the tennis eye test, posters that have repeatedly claimed they can predict hypothetical matches

Yet I see none of them are predicting the result for this match

Shocking! It's almost as if the eye-test approach to match prediction is actually useless

Particularly when Twitter is filled with Djoko*ots who want nothing but a ban for Sinner.

I have seen thousands of Alcaraz fans, Nadal fans and other fan bases wishing the same for Sinner. Every fan bases have toxic fans. Federer is retired now but he had his own crazy fans too.

Honestly, I don't see how a Sinner ban would benefit Djokovic at this point. It would have benefitted him if he was banned after his positive test in IW. Djokovic would have been number #1 until USO. But now it's the opposite. A Sinner ban means Alcaraz's chances to win more Grand Slam and more weeks at number #1 majorly increase in 2025. On the contrary, Sinneraz splitting Slams and wearing each other down benefits Djokovic more. Common sense.

Djokovic is by far the GOAT

And with these youngsters he is creating memories for our lifetime.

Madrid 2022 semis
RG 2023 semis
Wimbledon semis
Wimbledon finals
Cincinnati finals
Turin RR Sinner
Davis cup Sinner
Wimbledon 24 finals
Olympics finals

And now we are in shanghai hopefully another major performance. Before Nole retires, we will have 10+ matches vs both.

I think that Djokovic fans should hold on to someone like Sinner, he may be their insurance that Alcaraz will not be able to beat Djokovic's records (but the same could be true in reverse). This year Sinner didn't take away Alcaraz's slam but it will deny him many weeks at number 1 and above all it took away his chance to end his second season at number 1 at just 21 years old. Djokovic fans who care about his legacy as an undisputed Goat have only the interest that the global level of competition always remains very high. Kind of like how Jordan fanboys have the Warriors dynasty to thank.

Yep. Sinner and alcaraz can take slams off each other to help preserve Djokovic records. No doubt a third guy that comes after them will enter the fray too ;)

Is Djokovic going to share his money with his fans? If not, why does anyone care if his records fall?

Nadal fans jumping off to Carlos bandwagon is not gloryhunting?
To be honest that is mainly Fed fans. Fed fans in particularly love Carlos for beating Novak at Wimbledon twice to stop him matching feds record. As well as his flamboyant attacking tennis too.

Some Nadal fans love Alcaraz but some on here don’t. The ones that don’t probably don’t want him to replace Rafa as the best Spaniard or just don’t think he can measure up to peak Rafa, etc.

Sinner for the win... the doping scandal seems to have just made him want to prove himself that much more. Alcarez is his only rival now.

I voted Sinner in 3, as it seemed a reasonable prediction. However, the older guy won in the battle of Bs, so who knows? This could be the day for the old guys.

Exactly, the reason why I love Sinner more is the fact that he seems more humble in my view and I love down-to-earth people in general.

Yes it was so magical in 23 final. Carlos dethroned Novak at Wimbledon. And he held his serve in that last game. That match soothed many wounds on 2019.

In 2024 he topped it again. And with pleasure he overcome another CP wasting season against djokovic

so obviously fed fans love alcaraz. We also like Sinner because he stopped djokovic at AO.

And among them is too early to say

Hope Sinner shows us why he is the #1 player. Looking forward to watching what should be an open and very interesting high quality match.

Calling for Sinner's ban isn't particularly toxic though. To be endlessly obsessed over it like PavvyG is a little strange is all.

There are many things toxic about the bots across fanbases but the Sinner situation is unique in that bots and even regular posters have seemingly got together to see through the stupid fiasco that's the Sinner scandal (except the fans of Sinner and TTW ofc).

Sinner is a generational talent and I hope he comes out of this honourably.

Djokovic will get 100 somewhere for sure.

He has zero pressure.
Zero pressure? This is a Masters final against the world #1. Djokovic needs to win this match. Otherwise it could be the end of this rivalry. The last thing he needs is having Sinner gain even more confidence against him than he already has.

Novak only cares about slams and playing for Serbia. He is in Shanghai just to catch a glimpse of Roger.

I have no idea what is going to happen today. I'm just going to watch and be surprised.

Good plan!

Watching without bias (no favourite player) makes matches interesting and easier to analyse as it progresses.

Sinner should win, but if Djokovic really wants it, there is no one stopping him.

Frankly I hope for a great match of tennis which I will now enjoy without much of an analytical eye. The arena is emptying, so many great players and legends leaving in quick succession, I feel strangely emotional in this European autumn. Where are all the slam winners of years past going?

One has already left it two years ago, one did so this Olympian summer, one will do so in Vienna, one in Malaga, one in Buenas Aires - another one is fighting on with wildcards and one for big titles still. Hope to enjoy the last great dances...

Novak needs to mix it up, otherwise he stands no chance in physical baseline exchanges and will get cooked quickly.. Sinner is at his fitness peak. Djokovic certainly isn't..
