Other than that, he was blowing away lead after lead, break point after break point; again and again.
You aptly described why Carlos will be behind him, it took a brilliant Carlos and subpar Sinner to beat him 3 when he should have won in 2. Sinner has learner the dark art : winning it ugly , it has made him a monster.

Alcaraz has had his number and been the better player in big matches. That said you right they were close matches and decided by just a few points. I expect always close matches between them going forward and they will trade wins. Alcaraz and sinner will likely meet in all finals on all surfaces as they get more dominant.
Alcaraz rightfully won those matches, I just laugh at the dismissive Alcaraz dominates Sinner comments, don't work for me. Its 6-4.

Djokovic has did himself proud. Still making finals and no shame losing to the best player in the world. He can still be happy knowing he can beat the majority of players and just inferior to alcaraz and sinner at age 37 after all the mileage he had.

That should have been a hammering had Charlie learnt not to blow chances but that's been the story of 2024.
Not just 2024, but also 2022 & 2023.

Talking about the Beijing final, Alcaraz should've won the first set 6-1, 6-3 or 7-6 (4).
Second set was rightfully 6-4 in his favour, albeit he could've broken earlier than 4-4.
Third set should've been 6-2 but he almost blew it.

This spin to make it seem like this is somehow a Roger/Rafa situation of 2006 is strange. It's a slightly different 2017 if anything.

It is a somewhat similar situation.

Sinner is just ragdolling everyone this year. It's impressive that Alcaraz managed to beat him 3 times. It's creativity and shotmaking vs the steady relentless machine.

Don't use my post for your propaganda.
Sinner was not subpar, he has been on his peak + juices starting from USO.
They played on a surface that favours Sinner way more than Alcaraz, which is fast & low bouncing HC.

It's more similar to 2017 with Fedal splitting the slams though of course there are obvious 06 comparisons to be made too.

Yes. I read in the match thread Sinner is the best shotmaker on tour. I really think that's Alcaraz.

what an impressive improvement. He went from 1 Master in his career to 2 slams and 3 masters in 2024 and year end number 1. No one like him. Bravo Jannik

Pity about those couple of net plays in the tiebreak as Djokovic was fully matching Sinner in the opener and had a chance to take the lead. Wouldn't say he fell off a cliff after that but it was just enough for the second set to be a routine one. All in all, he's on good track. Century is coming soon.

Kudos to Jannik. Unfazed and almost flawless on this surface so far this season, which is such a contrast to the previous ones when he introduced himself as one of the top players. No wonder it reflects as such in the rankings now.

It's Alcaraz by a considerable distance. His every match is a highlight reel basically.

Sinner is a ballstriker, not a shotmaker. He's like a tall Agassi.

They have a good contrast in style.

Yes it's compelling stuff going forward. But now we need more depth at the top. Djokovic will slowly fade and though these two young talents were badly needed given the state of the tour, we're still lacking depth at the top of the game. Right now we have 3 tier 1 players and a few virtual no-hoper tier 2 players. Need those 1.5 tier guys who have serious chances to play spoiler and get in on the hunt, but right now it's not clear who might rise there.
