Sith Lord Showdown at USO19?

We agree that it's a poor directing error. We disagree on the obviousness of the theory. As I said, it was the first one that I brought up. The second one has been discussed to death on numerous forums. I participated in such discussions in 2005 and 2006, and they were never resolved to anyone's satisfaction, so I don't see much point reopening them now. But all I'll say is that the true deviousness of Palpatine is not in concocting a brilliant plan but in laying out so many plans that, even if almost all of them went wrong, he could still gain power in the end. (We know some of his plans go wrong - as just one very obvious example, he planned on Obi-Wan dying in the duel with Dooku, but that didn't happen). That means that his plan for the duel was multifaceted. He wanted Anakin to turn. He didn't know in advance exactly how he would engineer that. At least in my view.
If its between understanding wattos bet and figuring what was going on with the treaty thing in ep 1, I'll take the wether or not he planned anakin to run into a room the exact second that he was pinned to a wall. I can rap my head around that one at least.

Same I was discussing this **** back in the days too lol

The thing is Palpatine also had the power of not only foresight but he could sense Jedis and siths, he knew Anakin was on his way towards his and Mace's location hence he was delaying the battle until he specifically appeared and made him watch. Even if you ignore his powers and focus on just the narrative - forcing Anakin to turn further and further to the dark side through manipulation since Anakin didn't completely turn at that point yet, it still falls in line with Palpatine's plan.

Anakin was always an emotional guy, hence why Yoda and the rest of the council didn't trust Anakin because you know the usual hate leads to anger etc etc...the emotions which are literally perfect for Palpatine to manipulate and turn someone into a Sith. That's why the majority of the fans sided with Palpatine wanting Anakin to lay a hand on Mace, it was to push him.

But yeah it's an old debate now.

I still refuse to believe that Palpatine took a dive against Mace Windu. :p

I'd love to see him do a plinkett review of the hobbit trilogy , but I didn't like his Indiana jones and titanic reviews. The prequel reviews are so good though If he gives a damn about the movies, he creates great reviews but he needs to care.
Baby's day out and Cop Dog are amazing. Hobbit's not going to happen. They worship P.Jackson and already did positive Half in the Bag with minimal criticism.
Hack frauds duh
Those movies deserve a proper roast tho.

Yeah I was suprised at their postive take. There are so many parellels like cgi and plot holes that he could easily rip apart. I think that its just mike isnt a tolkien fan, he was never part of that niche. if there is no passion behind it Id rather not since I found a lot of plinket reviews sub par. I dont like the plinkett lite review of the hobbit that has mil of views and parts, someone should step up and do a better job.

First Plinkett reviews were done when they were just starting. Didn't even have long video uploading privileges, thus it's all in parts. Now they're big. Every video over million views and more. Good reviews for all Marvel stuff and Macaulay Culkin on too many Best of the Worst shows. Ka-Ching!

It's not necessarily the plot. The scene can be interpreted that way, but it doesn't have to be. (I, at least, don't care what George Lucas or anyone else involved in the film has said about their interpretations of the film in interviews or tie-in books or the expanded universe or the legends or the so-called new canon or anything else. My own counsel will I keep on how to interpret that scene, and every other scene. I would like to hear/read the views of others, including your good self, but, ultimately, I will decide for myself on my preferred interpretation).

But I agree that, if that is the plot, it is a bad plot. That's partly why I believe that Mace Windu defeated Palpatine.
That's a great policy to keep, considering George flip-flops on what his intentions & interpretations of the films are seemingly every time he opens his mouth.

I agree with you that Palpatine was planning on turning Anakin, but I think he was flexible on how that happened. Bear in mind there were clear costs to appearing to lose to Windu - his whole seduction hinged on Anakin believing that the dark side had more power so that he could use it to save Padme, and seeing Palpatine on the floor with no lightsaber and Mace Windu apparently triumphant is not the best way to convince Anakin that the dark side is more powerful. So, I think plan A is for Anakin to come in and find all the Jedi dead, so that Anakin believes the dark side is more powerful, plan B is for Anakin to see Palpatine's lightning prove too strong for Mace Windu, so that Anakin believes the dark side is more powerful, and only plan C is for Anakin to get involved himself. I don't deny that plan C was there from the beginning; I just deny that it was plan A. In my view, only when Palpatine couldn't defeat Mace Windu - either with a light saber or with the lightning - did he get Anakin directly involved. I know many disagree, but, as I said, I keep my own counsel on which interpretation is the best one.

Anyway, in more up-to-date matters, I'm pretty annoyed about Palpatine apparently being in episode 9. The whole point of the ending of Return of the Jedi, it seems to me, is that Anakin Skywalker eventually defeated and destroyed Darth Sidious so that Sidious thereafter did not exist in any form whatsoever. So, I always refused to read the expanded universe storylines with a revitalized Palpatine getting shot in the back by Leia. Perhaps there's a way for them to pull off some version of a Palpatine force ghost, but I'd prefer him simply to never be heard of again after Return of the Jedi. On the other hand, they need to ret-con force ghosts of Obi-Wan and Anakin into episodes 7 and 8 yesterday.

Last year's outfit wasn't lame at all!

It was one of his best Lacoste outfits really (although that's not saying much).
And even his Uniqlo kits weren't that boring, even if they weren't the most creative.

Red/black with coordinated shoes is hard to go wrong with.

That said, yes his 2016 outfit was quite boring.

This year's outfit looks very lame too. Blue and white once again.

all of those outfits are okay but nothing too impressive really

I just think I’ve been spoiled by Adidas, much more creative and better colours

I also thought he looked better in a T-shirt than he does in a polo

wait, his USO 2019 outfit is out? where?

People often tell me that I talk and write like an academic. I suppose it's true. However, I have far more interest in using my academic training to talk about popular culture than I do to talk about my subject or any adjacent subject. I'm always showing my students clips of Star Wars or Harry Potter or The Godfather or The Usual Suspects to illustrate some point in a text or dispute that may predate the clip by centuries or even millennia, and then analyzing said clip in the same way I just wrote those posts. And now that I've finally caught up on Game of Thrones, I'm intending on showing two clips from it in the first class (well, second, if you count the opening day on which all I do is hand out the syllabus and get them to talk to each other) in the upcoming semester for the same purpose.

Left is for American tournaments, right for Asian

These two for European tournaments

Not that impressive imo

At what point you Fed fans have turned from "boring Uniqlo" when Djokovic wore it, to great Uniqlo ?
I said already that Fed's kit looks like pyjama, but if we put that thing aside - you can't expect player in his 30s to wear flashy young guy t shirt.
