In a normal situation I am convinced that Alcaraz would try not to rage too much, therefore avoid humiliating him, and this in my opinion also within an official match. But since this is not a normal situation, or rather, Rafa needs to test himself as best as possible from a Davis Cup perspective, so he will "ask" Carlitos to approach the match seriously, and all this could give rise to an embarrassing situation to say the least.

Alcaraz is a nice kid, if it was the ice man Sinner, Rafa would be lucky to win one game or two.
I regard the Six Kings Slam as a quasi-legitimate, though unsanctioned, tournament, but Nadal vs. Alcaraz is the one match that could turn out to be nothing more than an exhibition -- just like their "Netflix Slam." Nadal is not yet officially retired, but he's a part-time player at best these days. His ranking is barely in the top 1000! I don't think he's even played a match since being crushed in the Olympics. This encounter reminds of the Federer-Sampras exhibitions that took place when Pete was close to 40 but the public was willing to pay to see the two greats on the same court again. How much mercy can Alcaraz display without embarrassing Rafa?

Looks like a blowout. Why did Nadal play this? Was it the $$?
He's retired now - no point in all this and getting beat.

What I don’t get is, if they could get this plainly retired guy to play, why couldn’t they get Federer too? He clearly was gunning for that practice set vs Raz that never happened. Could have replaced Rune or something

With all the money they spent on this they should have done something totally insane like change the surface of the court after every set or something

Alcaraz has taken being aggressive to the next level, if he is zoning on top of his aggressive nature, he probably has the highest playing level of all.
The problem is that it's unsustainable in the long run. He still needs to improve his point construction.

I think his knees really bother him. Would love to see Roger train for a few months then do an exo tour with Rafa. I imagine they are similar level.

Think Rafa would have preferred playing Sinner Saturday, going to be painful to lose against Novak one more time.
