Sizing of Asics and Nike men shoes

Hi TW,

I currently wear the Asics Gel Solution Speed 2 that are getting really old, so I will need to get a replacement soon. Some of the options I am considering are the Asics Solution Speed FF and Nike Air Zoom Vapor X. Possibly also Mizuno Wave Exceed Tour 4 and Lotto Mirage 100 SPD. The question is, I am size 9 in my Asics SS 2, but I am size 10 in my everyday Nike sneakers and in my Nike soccer cleats.

I was just wondering if you could help me with sizing (lengthwise) of the Nike and Asics (and perhaps other) shoes that I am considering. Do the SS FF fit similarly to the SS 2, which seem to run a bit large? Do they fit more true to size? Do the Nike fit true to size?

My local store has a very limited selection, so I cannot really try them in person. I could probably order several models/sizes from TW and figure out which fits best, but I don't want to create too much hassle for you guys with handling my returns :)

Thanks!

@ivan89,

The Asics Solution Speed FF is pretty similar in length to the Solution Speed 2, although the Speed FF seems to be a bit more accommodating for wider feet as well. I wore a size 9.5 in the SS2 and SS FF, and I would likely wear that in the Vapor X, although for some reason the toe-box felt slightly shallow around the tip of my big toe. The Mizuno Wave Exceed Tour is ultra plush, and comfortable, and I wore my usual size 9.5, but by the end of the playtest, I started to wonder if I should of went down to a size 9.0, because I think they stretch out a bit over time; very pliable feel to them. Lastly, the Lotto Mirage 100 SPD is definitely running short, tight, and slim, so I went up to a size 10.0, which was still pretty snug for me, but I didn't want to go too big, and it end up feeling loose, although some might go up a full size, but I like a rather tight fit.
I hope that helps,

Troy, TW

Hi Troy,

Thank you for your answer! I was going to reply sooner, but then forgot about it. I ended up ordering the Speed FF in size 9 and the Vapor X in size 9.5. They turned out to be very close lengthwise, but the lacing system of the Vapor X holds my feet slightly better. I also absolutely love the white and red colorway of the Vapor X, so I decided to keep the Vapor X and return the Speed FF.

Thank you again for your help!
Ivan
