There are reasons why Djokodal will not overtake Federer' slam count.
1) Federer was only 24 years old after 2006 AO and at that time he was 7 slams behind Sampras. Nole is also 7 slams behind Federer but he's 31 years old. That's 7 years difference !
2) Federer was almost 26 years old after 2007 Wimbledon and at that time he was 3 slams behind Sampras. Nadal is also 3 slams behind Federer but he's 32 years old. That's 5-6 years difference !
3) Sampras was already retired when Federer was chasing his slam record. But unlike Sampras, Federer is still active and has chances to add more to his 20 slams.
4) Both Djokodal want the slam record but competing against one another will lessen their chances.
I can't see neither of them ever catch Federer, let alone overtake him because the odds are stacked against them. My prediction is that Djokodal will fight for the second most slam titles behind Roger, and Sampras will end up in 4th place.
