Andres Gomez: French Open 1990
Boris Becker: Australian Open 1996
Petr Korda: Australian Open 1998
Yevgeny Kafelnikov: Australian Open 1999
Albert Costa: French Open 2002
Andre Agassi: Australian Open 2003
Roger Federer: Australian Open 2010 and Wimbledon 2012
Stanislas Wawrinka: Australian Open 2014

Federer has won the most slams as a father since 1990, two slams.

It's interesting that Federer is the only one who won a slam as a father at Wimbledon since 1990. Nobody won the USO as a father since 1990.

Out of curiosity. When did Sampras become a father? Shame on me, i have never even seen his kids :(

Taken from his Wiki entry:

"On September 30, 2000, Sampras married American actress and former Miss Teen USA, Bridgette Wilson. On November 21, 2002, their son, Christian Charles, was born. On July 29, 2005, the couple welcomed their second son, Ryan Nikolaos."

Thanks Mainad. You are a great guy as always ;)

How can we or even the players thensleves know they are truly dads. Theybcould have kids all over the place with their travel. Just sayin is all.

This is a bit misleading. How old were they when they had children?

What if some pro has a child before his peak? When he is 22 for example. He can break this record.

I think Novak will end up with 10-11 majors total. He has a good head on his shoulders, and he is still young enough . If he were 30 or so, I would say probably not. I think he will be able to balance it all.

BTW Connors has the record in the past 35 years since 1979 with 3 slams won as a father.

that is a good quote.

In the 1980 Wimbledon semifinal against Mc Enroe, and right after the match, when somebody asked Connors what had he screamed at Mac during one of the points in which Mc Enroe was showing poor sportmanship, he asnwered " I told him next year I´ll bring my two years kid Brett who has better manners than you do"
If Brett has learnt some of his dad´s gamesmanship, he is headed in the right way...

Andres Gimeno´s son was born the very same day he won his only GS title at Roland Garros, in 1972 ...

This thread is basically about the past 25 years or so. 35 if you consider Connors. What Pancho did back in the fifties is going way back, man...

Do step-children count? Rod Laver had three step-children from 1966 on. He accomplished the CYGS as a step-father.

Were those children with 3 different women? Laver, you dog :).

For older guys, dog means a good thing, I'm not literally calling Laver a dog. It means "player", which means in modern slang being great with women.

Interesting, I 've heard this topic deliberated about females (which I find more relevant), but back on course, I say Nole can win three more (didn't even know he was a father).

He is not a father yet, they announced Jelena is pregnant a couple days ago.

Nole will at least win 2 more, even as a father, he is still young enough. Although I very much doubt he'll get to double digits.

Australia use to be known as the Old Man Slam for a while.

If you do your research you'll find a lot of the top players past their prime were able to pull out a win in Australia until Federer came along.

Pancho Gonzales had his whole professional tennis career as a father.

He probably doesn't have to take care of the babies unlike Roger has been doing since their first twins. Roger even admitted that he lost some sleep by having to wake up in the middle of the night.

I'd like to point out that these are only officially known fathers. For all we know Safin might have had a little tyke we don't know about from one of his conquests.

The way I see it, when Djokovic becames a father he would skip the rest of 2014 and would return in 2015 highly motivated to make his childs proud of him and he would the Calendar Golden Slam - so at least 4 Slams from me:)

Gonzales didn't have top of the range travel options like Federer to get to tennis tournaments. Federer has enough money to last many, many lifetimes. Gonzales was never settled financially. He actually saw his challengers on the big head-to-head tours getting paid more than him.

You're saying Fed is better off than Pancho financially help him to be more successful. However, you can argue that not having enough money would push a player even more in terms of motivation and determination. Fed can lose every single matches in a year and he's fine, but Pancho must win matches to survive. Big difference.

Anyway, the topic is about how challenging it is to compete in pro tennis while raising a family. Having 4 kids is a handful. you would know that too if you have 4 babies !

omg total tennis nerd out.

.....

i love it

how do you come up with this stuff.

Roger can't tie Connors with 3 slams won as a father.

Fathers very rarely win slams.

bump again.
