Sleepless

What did you go with?
My go-to string setup after I had to stop using poly has been gut/poly. Moving from shaped poly to gut was an adjustment I lost some spin and bite on the ball, but I got gut to the point where it performs. But gut is too expensive and I can't use it in the wet and I break it after only 9 to 20 hours of court time.

So I've been searching for something cheaper that gets me enough bite for a reasonably high launch angle and enough snapback to generate a decent amount of spin. I currently have 6 hours on the court with Prince Lightning Pro 1.30 in the mains at 55 lbs/25 kg and Restring Sync 1.20 in the crosses at 50 lbs/22.5 kg. PLP is the slickest multi I've found out of the at least 2 dozen multi or syn gut that I've tried. The snapback is really terrific paired with Sync. I haven't tried another poly cross with PLP yet, and probably won't as I've found Sync to be the slickest poly cross string when testing with gut mains.

At 6 hours of hitting, the PLP has heavy notching but it still continues to snap back. I'll probably keep playing with it until it breaks or starts sticking and launching balls long so I can get a sense of how long it'll be playable. But I'm more than impressed that it's lasted 6 hours already, I wouldn't mind cutting it out after 6 hours because both strings are reasonably priced.

It’s the holy grail finding the softer hybrid with poly like characteristics, hope it works for you as know first hand how a bad arm can limit you. Like you I initially changed string to Velocity MLT but couldn’t get on with string movement, like a drunk spider that’s let itself go. So ended up switching stick to Blade 100 with a full bed of MSV Ficus Hex very low 50’s, and seems to have contributed to some healing. Confused doesn’t do it justice but happy with new set up.

After a few good nights of sleep I was due for a sleepless night and it was disturbing. By the time I finally fell asleep, it was time to wake up. Lol, oh well…

Tested eszopiclone 3 mg on my doctor’s recommendation after several days of very poor sleep. It belongs to a class of medications known as non-benzodiazepine sedative-hypnotics. It allowed me to sleep 5 hours straight, plus an extra hour after getting back in bed. My doctor says it can be used only when needed, with no risk of dependence.

Glad you found something helped (y) , never heard of it before and will look it up.

Hopefully this is the exception and not the rule.
I had nothing on my mind and had a very hectic day, so it was torture for not being able to sleep for no good reason. I had so much energy, I thought I could move mountains! Lol, Anyway, quite predictably, I slept very well last night.

You don't want em in your system, you're gonna get incremental memory loss very quickly, my mum is exhibit 1 [don't want to expound]. Just get off it for your own sake, take care, I mean it.

Wonder why these drugs have such complicated names?

I googled it and the side effects don’t seem to be anything out of the ordinary? Maybe if he takes them occasionally especially under dire situations where he hasn’t slept for a few nights, I think it should be okay. Sud doesn’t seem to be someone who’s going to get hooked on it!

It's a relief to know in that case.

Of course, only exceptional use, not continuous.

To be honest, all sleep and depression meds should be taken with great caution. These are chemicals that are unnatural to our bodies. Melatonin is okay because our pineal gland makes it and so is magnesium, because most of us lack it, and it’s natural to our system.

But still, these two should only be taken if we lack it; for example, brain tumours hinder producing melatonin or it’s a heavy disruption after a brain surgery or injury, so melatonin is recommended in those cases. I take it after long flights for 2-3 nights to get my old sleeping pattern back. And I take magnesium at bed time regardless.

That’s better, the world is a better place for a good nights rest (y) Hoping for the same tonight

I’ve got a dentist appointment in the morning and then team holiday lunch in the afternoon.

Weather is very tricky this evening with gusty winds and some wet snow, but it is all supposed to clear up overnight. Are you still getting the nonstop rain?

Hopefully the dentist doesn’t need to do anything that would interrupt lunch and it goes well, nothing worse than dental works when you’re hungry. Made me think of dentists and I wonder why anyone would want to look in peoples mouths for a living? Odd but pays well I guess.

We had a day of dry weather today, cycling was easier and going to get lunch at work was better. My umbrella got blown inside out and broke earlier this week. Forecast to rain again tomorrow though, more slate grey Victorian skies over London. Would prefer some cold and snow tbh, 15 degrees C in winter with warm wet downpours for weeks is becoming insufferable. Always liked the idea of winter sports.

So what’s going on with you lately? You seem a bit on the quiet side.
Pluto heated discussions have come to an end, the tennis season is over, nobody wants to take responsibility for the TTW Awards (myself included)…
Times are a changing.

Got six hours of sleep with that pill—split into two blocks of about 3.5 and 2.5 hours, with a short break in between. It was deep sleep, and I don’t recall any dreams (just one from yesterday, which I’ve already forgotten). I just woke up.

Now I’m going to stop using it for a while, since it’s not meant for continuous use. I only needed a bit of a reset.

Stop taking eszopiclone and seek emergency help right away if you experience any of the following:
  • Complex sleep behaviors: Engaging in activities like driving a car, sleepwalking, making and eating food, or having sex while not fully awake, with no memory of the event afterward. This is a serious risk and has a boxed warning from the FDA.
  • Severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis/angioedema): Symptoms include hives, itching, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, and difficulty breathing or swallowing.
  • Worsening depression or suicidal thoughts/actions.
  • Abnormal thoughts and behaviors: Aggression, agitation, confusion, hallucinations (seeing or hearing things that are not there), or a personality change.
  • Memory loss.
  • Withdrawal symptoms if the medicine is stopped suddenly after prolonged use (e.g., anxiety, unusual dreams, nausea, stomach cramps, sweating, shakiness, and rarely seizures).

Important Considerations
  • Alcohol and other sedatives: Avoid drinking alcohol or using other CNS depressants (e.g., certain pain medicines, anxiety medications) while taking eszopiclone, as this can increase side effects, especially drowsiness, and can be dangerous.
  • Next-day impairment: Even if you feel fully awake, your thinking and motor skills may be impaired the next morning. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how the drug affects you.
  • Elderly patients: Older adults may be more sensitive to the effects of eszopiclone, particularly dizziness and drowsiness, which increases the risk of falls.
  • Administration: Eszopiclone should be taken immediately before going to bed on an empty stomach to ensure it works properly and safely.

You can sleep easy in the knowledge that a Marine invasion is very unlikely.

However, what about a Bee invasion? Thinking of the Carlos match at Indian Wells which was as interesting as it was strange.

In some parts of Latin America, bee invasions are less frequent than the others.
