Sleeveless muscle shirts just look …unprofessional to me in a tennis tournament.

Rafa should wear these shirts for matches.

That’s what the old guys at my club with the forearm straps and Hyper Hammers wear

watched highlights of Shelton vs. Safiullin and it's funny cuz with Safiullin's plain attire you'd think his game would be meeker as well and he's such a clean striker of the ball.

Shelton's kits have been fine. the old Nadal kits make him look like a martial arts fighter but if he'd had more form fitting attire sooner it would've worked out better. maybe not for him because he'd be picking at his wedgie

This falls under the "basketball jersey" etiquette treaty of 1997. You know who gets to wear a tank top or a basketball jersey in public? A high school kid wearing one is like a 55 year old woman dressed in a mini skirt and cowboy boots going to a Taylor Swift concert. A little past appropriate and certainly not in good taste. Now toss in being a grown *** man? I dont care how buff you are...its hillbilly. Now here is the catch...your clothing manufacturer wants to sell things. Nike wouldnt make it if they didnt they could sell it...so there are partly to blame but Rafa and others have a say so in their kit.

Or you mind your own business. No one wants to see your basketball shorts, white dad shoes and polo ensemble that look like they were handpicked from the lost and found at The Villages’ pickleball courts

I guess he came from the gym and didn’t have time to change into tennis clothes.
His ball striking was phenomenal this past week in Dallas! The sleeveless shirts don’t bothering me. Get use to them with Alcaraz liking them, they will become popular.

They didn’t become popular when Rafa wore them and won’t now. Look better at the gym than playing in a tournament.

5 of the top 20 wearing them, time will tell. I get where you’re coming from though, my club growing up you had to have a collared shirt.

Old guys won’t wear them because they know they will look ridiculous with their flabby, overweight bodies. Maybe some kids will wear them.

I actually look good in them but I’m not interested in upping my skin cancer risk even further, especially as Oz leads the world in that statistic. I play tennis & bike in long sleeved tops most of the year - tennis wise I’ve still got a bunch of the Agassi ones & some others - as well as MAAP long sleeved jerseys for the bike.
Sleeveless for the gun show in the gym though - lol!

Everyone looks ridiculous on the tennis court with them. When I played ITF tournaments there was a player meeting before the first matches and they used to tell us how this was professional tennis and they don’t allow t-shirts at this level. I agree all these guys wearing t-shirts look unprofessional and the ones wearing sleeveless t-shirts look ridiculous

This is me on 85F+ days at my club, which has limited ventilation and causes me to sweat until I look like I'm covered in tanning oil. If you think for a second that in distressing physical conditions I'm going to wear more fabric for some idiot boomer's opinion about sporting apparel, think again. I'm out there moving my feet and working hard. Mind your own business, and maybe drop a few pounds so you look more like me. Losers.

Great arms. Assuming you do some lifting, anything you do worth sharing for your delts?

I actually don't do much lifting these days, probably a solid year of sporadic upper body work. 6x week tennis is too demanding to have lifting DOMS all the time. Just do some shoulder press (never to failure), some incline dumbbell press, and some kettlebell 1-arm circus press. Also face pulls and some one-arm rows for the rear delts, which help make the shoulders into boulders.

It's more my bodyfat percentage that makes me look this big.

I avoid barbell presses because they're bad on the elbows, and I never, ever go to failure. You can get 80% the results with 20% the soreness if you just stop before your ego is satiated.

Thanks. Similar to you, I no longer go to failure as that kind of fatigue (especially with barbell compound movements) takes away from tennis (and other more important life matters).

I've spent a lot more time over the past six months doing loaded mobility work. If you haven't done that, strongly recommended. I stand on a concrete step in my garage and hold a kettlebell with my fingers laced under it, stiff-legged, all the way extended down, and just let it stretch my hamstrings for 30-60 seconds. Unbelievable mobility gains from it.

Great, will look into it. I've never heard of it, but will definitely look into it, as mobility is always something that needs more work. I've got pretty good hip mobility but absolutely terrible hammy mobility.

Most of these threads are worthless, but this one might change your life. Tons of great resources on YouTube. I used to have stiff hams and now I can nearly touch my palms to the ground with stiff legs. The gains are serious.

You don't have good hip mobility if you have bad hamstring mobility. If you mean the hamstring is the limiting factor on other muscle groups that are in better shape then (y)

If you sweat so much where are your wrist bands? How do hold onto the racket? You look gym ready but not tennis ready

Club players are not allowed to go sleeveless. When the hell did it become acceptable in the ATP?
This is tennis not the bloody NBA.
It is not appropriate. Ugly. Unprofessional. Just wear a shirt!
It is not particularly burdensome to wear a shirt. It's been done for 100 years.
Look at my muscles. These players are on an ego trip!
