Sleeveless muscle shirts just look …unprofessional to me in a tennis tournament.

Would tennis allow you to use a cart? No, so stop projecting the rules of a GAME onto the demands of an actual SPORT
Neither Augusta National Golf Club nor the USGA permits competitors the use of a cart outside of specific rarely applicable physical conditions.

That's great, but you can still play the game in slacks and a belt, and tuck in your shirt...meanwhile tennis is one of the most demanding sports on earth, and it's silly to say "this wouldn't fly in golf so we can't do it in tennis"

Tennis is historically much more of a gentleman's game than golf ever was, so the premise that we should look up to golf for etiquette issues is just laughable.

bruv pls

Have never heard anyone call golf the "Sport of Kings"
You don't seem to have much exposure to golf in general though. It's three centuries younger than tennis and a bit more niche for longer but neither of these reflect the striking terms of disparity you attempted to use.

I'm a snob but some of you are going too far lol

There ARE occasions where I wouldn't wear one. But a public court or my health club, wouldn't think twice.

If you sweat so much where are your wrist bands? How do hold onto the racket? You look gym ready but not tennis ready
Hands don't really sweat and it's a bit of a miracle. I only had grip-slip issues in peak NY heat/humidity.

The rest of me looks like I'm in baby oil. I play in a very humid climate (for ten months of the year). Winters here are like playing in a cold sauna. My hands somehow stay dry. Makes no sense.

The sweat doesn’t roll down your arms? It’s gravity.

I guess I don't swing hard enough for centrifugal force to work. But seriously, my palms don't get sweaty. I do have to wipe the rest of me down.
Wrist bands don’t prevent your hands from sweating. Wrist bands prevent the sweat from running down your arms due to gravity to your hands. It creates a barrier to stop the sweat from reaching your hands. I guess you don’t really sweat then and your excuse for wearing a sleeveless gym shirt is just that an excuse.

No I'm not a boomer it just gives off the trying too hard to feel cool vibe.
Interesting perspective. Why would wearing a hat backwards have anything to do with feeling cool? I wear my hats backwards. Not once have I ever thought about how it would be perceived by others nor do I care.

Well then why even wear it backwards? It's way less practical than forwards

Because I like too. Why do I like chocolate chip cookies? Because I do. I don't need a rationalization or justification. Maybe you feel there's supposed to be one and that's why you think people are projecting forth something they're most likely not doing?

I'm giving you the opportunity to prove them wrong but you haven't done it yet

Man-bunli wears his hat backwards.

I've not articulated a position sir

I just asked a question--if it's not about aesthetics then why turn the hat?

Here's my position: If players feel it looks good on them, then they should do it. And it does look good on some players. I just think it's a little bit of a stretch to say "I just do things bc I like them" when there is an obvious level of vanity to almost everything we do re presentation (car, clothes, grooming/hair etc)

If a person is wearing something because they like them, or they like to wear them, then isn't it logical to assume that they think they look good by wearing them?

I would think so yeah

But you're actually kinda proving the point of the ppl who think it looks "try hard"

So I'm wondering where the actual disagreement is lol

I don't think that there is a point of disagreement.

Unless, you're concerned about how you will be perceived by dressing that way.

Clearly our sleeveless/backwards cap friend thinks he looks good that way and I'm inclined to agree

He shouldn't have any shame in it is sort of where I'm going with this

Flexing doesn't bother me, just don't tell me you're not flexing!

No. You're stating an assumption which may be accurate or it may not be. The assumption rules out other avenues of possibility that are just as valid or moreso. I like cycling. Do you think I wear cycling clothing because it makes me look good? I wear it because it's more comfortable for cycling. I look ridiculous in cycling clothing.

Ah, I see. You're projecting this, because for you, there is that level and you can't perceive that this just isn't the case for everyone. Um, okay. I get it. It's not an abnormal behavior. So believe as you'd like. *shrug*

Wearing cycling clothes is a different deal, altogether. I understand that you probably have to wear cycling clothes, if you're a serious competitor.

Having your hat on backwards is a complete personal preference.

There is no reason why you have to do it. You do it because you want to.

Watching Zverev right now in the semifinals of the French Open. Skinny guy wearing what we used to call a muscle shirt just looks so white trailer trash to me. For the weekend warrior behind the junior high hitting and shanking balls, not for a major professional tennis tournament. A wife beater we call them, because every guy getting arrested on tv for beating his wife….is in cuffs wearing one.

We don’t even allow them at my club, even on the outside courts. A guy asked our pro why he couldn’t wear one, the pro said, “trust me, no one wants to see you in a sleeveless shirt”.
Van Halen is great! (y)

This thread is not. (n)

Of course there is that level or else we would all dress like Mannarino

"I just do it bc I like it", obviously there is a reason you like it, no?

How about sideways hat? Is that ok?
If the sun is coming from the side, sometimes I rotate my hat to block the sun. I shift it like a sundial but for blocking the sun.
