Sliding on hard courts...

Its just becoming more commonplace. I suspect certain pros, intelligently, are working with their shoe companies and customizing the outside edges of their shoes, like a ski,or a skate and polishing the rubber, so that the slide is easier and less likely to result in an injury.

Where can i get me a pair?

A lot of them grow up on clay, think Monfils, and rely on quickness to win. If you are out of reach, then sliding really helps to speed you up.

We amateurs should never slide on hardcourts. I'm not even sure the pros should do it.

I cringe when I see pros sliding on HC as if it was clay :-? HC is already hard enough on the body playing normally.

I've not heard of special HC sliding shoes, although it's probably not a bad idea since sliding on HC has become fairly common. You'd sacrifice a bit of traction but would probably save joints, knees and ankles in the long run.

Perhaps, they could even create shoes where the outer 1/2" or so it conducive to HC sliding. Everytime they show replays with some killer slides, the pro is on the outer edge of the shoe (probably to avoid rolling their ankle).

That is what I was saying. The outer edge is polished, allowing all this sliding. Hard courts are great for a perfect bounce, but ******** in what it does to the body. Its time someone figured that out, or the shoes were altered. Cause hard courts = torched body.
