Has anyone else seen this interview? Sloane says of Serena:

She’s not said one word to me, not spoken to me, not said hi, not looked my way, not been in the same room with me since I played her in Australia,” Stephens says emphatically. “And that should tell everyone something, how she went from saying all these nice things about me to unfollowing me on Twitter.”

Her mom tries to slow her down, but Sloane is insistent. “Like, seriously! People should know. They think she’s so friendly and she’s so this and she’s so that — no, that’s not reality! You don’t unfollow someone on Twitter, delete them off of BlackBerry Messenger. I mean, what for? Why?

Yeah, but it's also totally unnecessary for Sloan to comment on it publicly in an incendiary way. I hope Sloan focuses on her game and doesn't get too hung up on the drama.

Having said that, I'm sure it irks Serena to be on tour with a "Baby Serena" and I can see her having that type of unfortunate reaction.

Maybe she should team up with Dimitrov and play doubles vs. Roger and Sloan. That would be awesome.

Note to Sloane: you are no longer in elementary school. If other kids don't want to be your friend there are no teachers around to make them play with you.

That is what happens, when the players are hanging in the social networks, instead of working on their games.

I mean, dude, have you not better things to do than to discuss tweeted messages?

I said this in the other thread; it's pretty sad that we need to discuss Twitter and Blackberry messenger...but at the same time, could Serena be more of a sore loser? "Defriending" someone because they beat her in a match?

I don't think this story is that big of a shock, and while Sloan might've come on a little strong, it must be annoying for her to get one question after another about her "mentor."

I just look forward to the next match-up now.

Jehovah Witnesses are not allowed to Tweet or use BBM else they lose their place amongst the 144,000 followers that will survive the apocalypse.

I guess Sloane doesn't know this, I will tweet her the lowdown to settle her feathers.

was Serena ever really her mentor?

I don't remember this being the case until the media tried to hype the story early this year.

they have played on Fed Cup together, but Sloane had never said anything like that about Serena. and i distinctly remember Sloane saying Clijsters was her favorite player in the past, which her style emulates more than Serena's...

And you know Serena de-friended her because she lost, how?

Serena lost to Caroline Wozniacki and they are still twitter friends.

and wasnt wozniacki the only one from the tour to visit her when she was in the hospital?

They do not know.

Serena lost to Caroline Wozniacki and they are still twitter friends.

Uh-oh...a bit of fact in the mix! How can this be? I thought we had to believe SW drops twitter friends if she lost to them? "Oh,. she's bitter!" "oh, she's immature!" What the Hell ever.

I guess the anti-SW propaganda goes down the toilet hole once again.

straws... must grasp... serena needs my defense against the racists... must resist...

Oh, the drama!!

I hope the commentators play this up the next time they play, LOL, she deleted her from Twitter!! Am I surprised Serena did those things? Uh no.

The difference between Sloane and Wozniacki is Sloane beat Serena at the slam which is the reason she distant herself from Sloane. Wait until Wozniacki beat Serena at the slam(like Sharapova did in 2004), Serena can't handle losing to a YOUNG player.

You seem to know a lot about Serena to make such confident predictions

Actually TMF is coming to a resonable conclusion for once, based on available evidence...

Not really.

I'm guessing Serena decided to distance herself from Sloane following the "she's so disrespectful" comments and then later the gloating after beating an injured Serena including statements about how it wasn't as hard to beat Serena as she thought.

Serena distancing herself from stalker Sloane seems like a mature move.

Well, she doesn't like Sharapova for years, and now suddenly after the 2013 AO she distant/aloof herself from Sloane.

Is Sharapova known as likeable character? Quite the opposite.

Most top people in any field are not likeable as they don't like to waste their energy on small things which make them popular (like subscribing to tweets from a player who hasn't won any major).

Right or wrong the fact that Sloane cares so much about this is a good explanation to why she still hasn't broke top 10 and hasn't done anything of note since that Aussie run. Focus on beating Serena not crying over the fact that she unfriended you on twitter. Grow up and make some more good runs, otherwise nobody is going to remember you in two to three years.

Yea lets not forget this Sloane did a crap ton of bad mouthing in January. She got caught and tried to claim she was joking, but anyway watching could tell she was not. Oddly enough she complained about Serena's come on and grunts but never mentioned a thing of Azarenkas grunts and shreels. Sloane ain't no angel either.

Exactly. Athletes in general should avoid social media- especially tennis players!

She also didn't seem to have a problem with Azarenka's medical time outs.

I think Sloane is full of it.

yet Serena did subscribe to Sloane's tweets before the Aussie Open loss to her...

:-?

Serena's just pissed that she lost to baby Serena. What a poor loser. Did she expect Stephens to roll over for her like all the Spaniards roll over for Nadal? Maybe. Too bad for her. She'll have to suck it up. But Stephens shouldn't air their dirty laundry in public either. Unless someone specifically asked her about it. Then what's she supposed to do? Lie?

Serena and mature, as far as on-court behavior, have not exactly gone hand and hand through out her career.

given Serena's personality, I have no doubt she was pissed as he11 when Sloane beat her at the Aussie...

:-?

I also joined Twitter once but don't do anything with it. I hardly use FB any more.

People change.

It just appears weird to me that someone would publicly discuss this. This is something between her and Serena, if anything at all. Why does Sloane think we should know about it? Why can't people keep private things private?

she appeared to "subscribe" to her tweets before Sloane went nuts in Australia ---starting in Brisbane.

I don't blame her for distancing herself from a nutty person.

I agree with that. Sloane throwing a tantrum is not called for...

Sloane is getting a little attention from this, but she needs her game to back it up.

drama is the one thing the WTA has over the ATP...

Except they actually have gone hand in hand. She has been subject to some really unfair things on the court and has handled 99% of them with grace and maturity.

Of course people who dislike Serena will always find the 1-3 times she lost her cool to damn her.

He knows nothing about her. The theory about Stephens "defeating" SW is dismissed as everyone--from on-site audiences, commentators and everyone else understood SW was injured, so the no-talent Stephens was lucky to skate by. This is further prven by what happened to her in the next round when she faced Azarenka. Destruction.

SW is not bothered by some would-be character assassin in the form of Stephens, as she (SW) is on a mission of her own, but leave it to the TW Hate Squad to pull any half-assed idea and run with it as "fact."

Not working.

1-3 times? LOL. Where did you come up with that number? People remember the tantrums, especially when they're as vociferous as Serena's always tend to be. What do people remember about McEnroe? The tantrums. A top player should work harder at keeping their cool.

Well, she doesn't like Sharapova for years after losing 2004 Wimbledon, and now suddenly after the 2013 AO she distant/aloof herself from Sloane. Serena also can't stand Henin either because she have lost many times at the slam. Someday when Wozniacki beat Serena at the slam, expect their relationship to deteriorate.

LOL

He should start a thread called "Ask Serena" and then he can answer all of our questions we might want to ask Serena.

There's no need for that. Serena avoids contact with Sloane after her loss at the AO, that's a fact.

Well nothing--claiming she has a problem with Stephens because of the AO is a lie. There's no evidence to suggest that at all, so it is more of the TW Hate Squad bullsh*t.
But right after the AO, Serena don't want to have anything to do with Sloane. Stop pretending that you don't know.

Henin was a proven cheat. That's why many have criticized her, and rightfully so.
No she wasn't. Serena doesn't like her because Henin denied her a few slams.

No evidence as a foundation for the post, so it is pure bullsh*t.
If it happened to Sloane, who is an American player, Serena's mentor, you can't rule out for Wozniacki, who is also much younger than Serena.
