Slow-mo video of Djokovic hitting the line judge

Ball definitely didn't hit this line judge in the throat. She was hit on the side of the head, judging by the bounce trajectory. Also, no immediate reaction as the ball bounces off for a fraction of second without her even moving an inch. Clear case of afterthought fall, not to mention later choking sounds.

There's no visible impact spot on her head. Ball probably just grazed her.

Still, a careless and dumb move by Novak. Hope he learns from this.

Edit: For fairness, adding another angle in slow-mo:

From this angle, it might have been her neck or chin that was being hit (grazed IMO) but it's even better showcase of her late reaction. Ball bounced a meter away without her moving an inch. When she finally moves, she looks more startled than hit. Impossible in case of any substantial impact.

I could not tell anything from that video, looked like it could have hit the neck to me. My guess would have been "chin" so neck seems like it's within the error of estimation.
Neck is not throat. Though I don't think it's the neck either.

Of course she just pretends that she is hurt, because she wants more money as compensation.
She acts like she was hit by the truck...
Because I’m sure that no organiser of a tennis tournament has ever considered the possibility that a line judge or ball kid might be struck with a ball whilst doing their job. There is absolutely no chance that terms of employment might cover that eventuality.

Seems a completely normal reaction from the line judge to me. Unexpectedly getting a ball in the throat even at lower speeds has got to be painful.
Any kind of impact to the throat when you're not expecting it (even if it doesn't leave lasting damage) will usually have the average person reacting like that line judge did. It's a very unpleasant place to be struck even at lower speeds.

EDIT: What am I saying, even if you're expecting the impact it's still gonna hurt like hell. The throat's ridiculously sensitive.

I got accidentally hit in the throat a couple of times playing rugby, and it is excruciating. Granted I was hit with more force than this tennis ball had, but I was a fit guy in his 20's, not a woman in her late 50's or 60's. I do not think she's faking this.

Guess how long he was suspended for? 0. And not even thrown out of the game. But there are different rules in different sports.
Also, I'd like to do this to the people that are making this a political thing.
You can't really compare a team sport, where the ref is standing right in the middle of the action, and tennis.

This is another problem. We don't need old overweight line judges on the court.

They need to be tested for basic athletic fitness and reflexes. Most athletes are aware of their surroundings and easily dodging or blocking that 30mph ball. It is the end of the service game so you need to be aware that balls are going to be tossed back in your direction.

Unlucky that he hit a woman...if it was a man line judge he wouldn't wince and cry and make big deal about...hence nole would be allowed to continue
This is true...
A young fit man would have been ALERT and stepped out of the way. End of Djoker's service game means that Djoker's balls are coming your way. Be alert!

Djokofans will talk about this grainy video for decades to come, analyzing the angle of impact and how it could not have hit her in the throat (just watch the bounce, it's obvious!, they say) desperately arguing that this was all part of a sinister conspiracy to rob Djokovic of a Grand Slam that might have given him GOAT status one day...

If you look well at the video, you will clearly see there was a second ball that came out of nowhere and hit the lady. It didn’t come off Djokovic racket. There is certainly a third party involved. My guess is CIA, or RF Foundation.

is the first thing I say to children on the court do not hit the balls when the game is stopped do not throw rackets. He has done worse than many guys. The expulsion should be immediate without warning in all these cases

It'll probably be analyzed a similar amount to Fed's missed MPs. Major ramifications beget major investigation.

It seems hitting a tennis ball at the throat/mouth area of a lineswoman would be something Serena would have accomplished before Djokovic. But, the ultra slow moe seems to show that the lineswoman was indeed hit in the throat. I'm guessing the impact was a split second after exhalation, when the throat muscles are the most relaxed.

The analogy of getting tapped in the balls, is a poor one. No comparison. I'll take a karate chop to the throat from Jackie Chan if I had a choice.

There were some close-up photo from ground level on the lineswomans face just after she dropped. Obvious signs of panic in her eyes. Tearing up. It hit the throat and that was real.

this video should be in the op.......

back to the incident, what baffles me is that he is watching the lineswoman as he hits it towards her........it looks intentional though he may not have intended to do so........definitely an act of carelessness from the top representative of tennis........
