Smart Meters and Microwaves .... hummm

This is quite interesting. It seems these meters need to go.

you can choose how often you use your microwave or cell phone, but not smart meters.

You have the lawful right to refuse a Smart Meter. www.DontSmartMeter.me

Please alert your neighbors, friends and families to this important information.

Simple method.
Pin up a (Space blanket) on the inside wall, opposite of where the smart meter is outside. They can be bought at any box store or sporting goods store for about $3.00 A quick test, wrap a borrowed cell phone in the blanket and call it. If the cell phones doesn't ring, then you have the right one. INSIDE DONE. Your smart meter still reports your privacy.

OUTSIDE? Wrap aluminum foil around the outside of the smart meter. This protects you from reflections. The power company will jump up and down and threaten you, but they have no radio license to back them up. Your health comes first.

Radiation Blocked! Stop Smart Meter Radiation
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmS5pVEZHzg

For anyone who does not want to be exposed to the radiation emitted from your utility smart meter, we have developed a simple yet technically proven product to block over 98% of the radiation. This video demonstrates how the "Smart Meter Guard" blocks the radiation and shows the technical evidence verifying the radiation is blocked.

While fairly simple in design the "Smart Meter Guard" really does block the radiation, completely! This Faraday cage is 98% efficient at blocking the smart meter radiation both outside and inside the house.

It would be good for society to do more studies on Rf emissions over the long term. It would be good, because more knowledge is better than less knowledge.

I agree. It's a scary topic and most of us try to ignore it hoping it will go away. But I fear it will get worse

Microwave radiation is of course too low a frequency to be an ionizing radiation, so most scientists don't believe there is any risk of cancer from microwave radiation. Available studies have generally not shown any clear risk of cancer. What risk there is, which may or may not include cataracts which most elderly people develop in any event, depends on proximity to the source, so not being directly next to the source likely eliminates the risk. Incidentally, your Bluetooth device uses microwaves.

Microwaves are on the safe side of the visible spectrum.
It they are on the other side I would be worried.

Decide for yourself:

Do you want an accurate, reasonably priced utility bill? Utility customers have noticed huge increases in their bill after a ‘smart’ meter is installed–in some cases hundreds of dollars more than usual. Utilities claim the meters are accurate, but unexplained over-billing has featured in many negative reports, all around the US. Read more. http://stopsmartmeters.org/frequently-asked-questions/faq-billing-issues/

The smart meters reveal how many people are home, what time you wake up in the morning, what appliances you're using, even perhaps what television program you're watching. And this is all information that is extraordinarily valuable to third-party corporations.

Ok, over billing and spying on us is one thing, and health risks of smart meters are completely different issue.

I can agree that smart meters are likely to do the former, but not the latter.

In Russia, microwave ovens were banned in 1976 because of their negative health consequences as many studies were conducted on their use. The ban was lifted after Perestroika in the early 90’s. Numerous documents can be found online relating to this topic.
The invention of the microwave and its mass adoption by the population coincides with the onset of obesity in developed nations around the world. Not only did the microwave make it convenient to eat more obesity-promoting foods, it also destroyed much of the nutritional content of those foods, leaving consumers in an ongoing state of malnourished overfeeding. In other words, people eat too many calories but not enough real nutrition. The result is, of course, what we see today: Epidemic rates of diabetes, cancer, heart disease, depression, kidney failure, liver disorders and much more.

Listen, you consistently make posts here about new age pseudo scientific topics. You surround yourself with that type of thing and you will believe it all. Just look at your source, "stopsmartmeters.org" May I suggest another source...

That is a study done by the California Council on Science and Technology addressing the health concerns of smart meters. The people who conducted the tests and compiled the results are actually experts in the technologies that smart meters use, unlike the people who keep spreading lies and ignorance about this stuff. If you can't be bothered with opening the link and reading any of it, the conclusions that they reached are:

1. Wireless smart meters, when installed and properly maintained, result in much smaller levels of radio frequency (RF) exposure than many existing common household electronic devices, particularly cell phones and microwave ovens.

2.The current FCC standard provides an adequate factor of safety against known thermally induced health impacts of existing common household electronic devices and smart meters.

3. To date, scientific studies have not identified or confirmed negative health effects from potential/non0thermal impacts of RF emissions such as those produced by existing common household electronic devices and smart meters

4. Not enough is currently known about potential non-thermal impacts of radio
frequency emissions to identify or recommend additional standards for such impacts

And here's a chart comparing the RF radiation output compared to other common electronics in microwatts/cm^2 from that document.

There are some other issues with smart meters; like some have caught fire due to engineering flaws, but as far as the radiation is concerned, it's really a non-issue.

As we all know studies can be fudged all for $$, and there is huge $$ in smart meters. That being said...lets just presume all studies are false for a second. What do you say about the news story where they registered the results on camera about the radiation levels?

Well there's really nothing that can be concluded about that report. It didn't go into any detail about how much radiation was being detected and how many variables they isolated. It was also conducted by someone who isn't an expert, which means they do not have the knowledge required to make any sort of informed conclusion about the readings on the RF detector. A good report would include an expert in the field to preform tests, not someone from an organization whose purpose is to eliminate smartmeters.

With regard to your first statement about studies can be "fudged". That's true, just about anything is possible in this universe. But that is not good evidence to simply say that there is a possibility that a scientific study can be tampered with. Unless you have verifiable evidence that the particular study has been tampered with, there's no reason to assume it was.

they own the meter and the power delivery service and all the delivery equipment.......why not switch to solar or one of the other free energies instead......simply put them out of your business and quit supporting them

Hey, well I'm all for solar. If you have the money, that's a good route to go provided you live in a sunny environment. It's just solar is pretty pricey, and the cheaper consumer market panels are not very efficient, relatively. Cloud cover is another factor you would have to worry about. Sometimes you have cloud cover/storms for days at a time, making solar an unreliable stand-alone source.

All the sources of energy have advantages and drawbacks.
