Ever been hustled? I used to play a lot of snooker in my teens and 20's...many years ago, and I've been hustled in pool halls a few times. But one hustle I will never forget happened during a week with another couple in the Bahamas. One of the members of the band that played around the pool in the evenings invited us to a fish fry in their little village some 3 miles down the road. He picked us up in his car and took us to this nice beach down the road where they put on a fresh catch feast for us...and we threw some money into a pot they had. Somehow the question whether we played pool came up...they had a covered but open on one side rec center with three tables which had seen better days. A couple of guys cajoled us into playing a form of spots and stripes for money. We all antied $5 US in an end pocket. My friend played a little as well. I must have tried 5/6 different cues before I found one that was almost straight! It became obvious this was a weekly hustle of tourists, they weren't bad shots, but we soon found ourselves up well over $150 US with a crowd gathering. I looked at my friend and quietly said we can't walk away with this pot...so we said thanks for the fish fry and pool games and would you take us back to the resort. To this day I don't know why we ventured off the resort, but in the end it was a great evening out, and maybe they came to realize not all tourists are easy marks.

Stephen Hendry was set to return for the upcoming Welsh Open but the orgainisers didn't get the memo /email so he's not in. Booooo. I do want to blame the organisers but then I did see Mr. Hendry on master chef before. Just a sad state of affairs in the world today.

Ronnie isn't looking so hot today. Probably made more mistakes in the opening 4 frames than he's made all week. Not too concerned yet. :p

And there ya go. A victory in the final frame. :cool: I thought Ronnie was heading towards victory when he took a 6-5 lead. Fair play to Jordan Brown. It's a nice story. Losing the tour card and then getting back. Big outsider. I know somebody out there had bets on. Another home nations final defeat for the rocket. Awk well.

Back in action tonight against Ding in the players championship. (y)

Ball run Bingham made a sweet attempt at the 147 last night. The final black before yellow denied him. He still beat Trump.

Stephen Hendry talking about butchering shots next week. lol

A most enjoyable first session. Pretty much what you always get from Ronnie vs Ding. 2-2 feels fair enough. Last 2 frames had a counter each.

Another final frame battle. This time, Ronnie gets it done with a wonderful 95 break. Had the chance to win the frame before, but the adrenalin rush took him out of position.

Tbh I'm not surprised. Guys like Selby crash out early after winning a big title a day or 2 before, so this is expected.

Like ROS has always said, tournaments are too close together these days, fatigue and jet lag kick in.

I think if the same continues to happen, then we can probably say he was a 1 tournament wonder

Yeah, I agree with you all. Ronnie was talking after beating Ding and running to the well too many times. ''Sometimes I feel it would be better for me to get knocked out in the first round, ya know.''

I've been trying to produce something that resembles a cue action for 30 years now, mate. You ask any golfer. It just gets tiring being in the rough all day, ya know. Finding that little slot where it can be comfortable.

Dennis Taylor has led the tributes to Ronnie O'Sullivan after snooker's greatest player of all time produced one of his finest all-round displays in a 6-1 win over an open-mouthed Jack Lisowski in the Players Championship quarter-finals in Milton Keynes.

“It’s as if he is playing a different game," said the bamboozled world number 11, who compiled only 19 points in the first five frames at the Marshall Arena.

O'Sullivan also left the 1985 world champion Taylor in awe of his natural ability as he missed only two balls in seven frames with free-flowing potting, tight tactical play and breaks of 63, 79, 124, 93, 125 and 59 in a blissful victory in only 78 minutes.

O'Sullivan will meet Barry Hawkins in the semi-finals on Friday night in a repeat of the 2013 world final and appears to be on course to claim a third Players Championship and £125,000 top prize on Sunday evening.
O'Sullivan enjoyed a pot success rate of 99%, slotting an astonishing 185 balls in 187 attempts and boasted an average shot time of only 16 seconds that left seven-times world champion Stephen Hendry – who returns to competitive action at next week's Gibraltar Open – comparing his cue to a "magic wand".

After that 6th WC last year, I'm finally satisfied with his career now lol.

He could've won so much when he was younger but his head wasn't there.
So I'm glad he stuck around long enough to win as many trophies as he did.

5 WC was amazing, but given how good he was, he had to have at least have the second highest number of World titles if not first.
6 seems about right. Not too far away from Hendry, and he makes up for that 1 less through all his other records.
7 would be great, but I wouldn't care as much if he didn't win another.

Higgins is looking to get there without losing a frame. I feel like 6-0 is on once again. Making me lose my mind with his excellence here.

I'm hoping scrappy Ronnie is out of the way and he can find the freedom around the table in the final.

How often do you see that in snooker. Getting to the final without losing a frame. Don't think I've seen that too many times. Can't really remember off the top of my head

I know Steve Davis' record has many 0 wins, but I don't know about the full tournament. I'll have to listen to the commentary and see if they bring it up. I guess they will if Higgins manages it again here. 4-0 coming up.

They just mentioned it. I'm led to believe it has never happened before in a ranking tournament.
