Snoring

G.O.A.T.
Guilty as charged on a few rare occasions and sometimes bad enough to keep my wife awake. Anyone else suffer from this nocturnal bad habit and what can be done for it? Is the snoring community doomed to snort uncontrollably for the foreseeable future or is their light at the end of the tunnel ???

Weight loss and changing sleep posture can help.

Also septum correction surgery / radiofrequency turbinate reduction if your doctor recommends it.
Never gaining weight could be a blessing in disguise for me, as I don't snore and never have any blocked nose feeling.

Sleep on my side and that helps a little. Weight is good for now.

As it’s not a regular problem I don’t think surgery is the answer … unless I wake up one night with my wife holding a pillow over my head …

A CPAP, too.
Or send partner to another bedroom, or move yourself to another bedroom.
Have you used a CPAP?

Slept in the spare room last night and we both got a better nights sleep. Not a permanent solution.

Search up a few things and a common aid is what looks like a boxers gum shield.

You should pass the adaptation period, which can be hard.

I suppose your "loudest nights" take place after heavy meals and drinks. It's the pattern most observed.
That's interesting. I can't really eat too much. If I am given a big portion of meal, I can't really finish it.

I snore when I sleep on my back, but when I sleep on the side - no snoring. Maybe you can try changing your sleeping position and see the effects.

Great idea,

It's definitely challenging and not really comfortable and it's never easy to change a long-standing habit, but at least you are aware of one of the options...
Good days and bad days tbh ,.. more thinking of my wife who works in teaching and it’s a stressful enough job without me trumpeting at 3 in the morning. Appreciate the advice (y)

You can try to let her fall asleep first if it is feasible. A bit torturing for you, but will definitely help her. Anyway, good luck.

Good idea … I’ll stay up a little longer and catch up on the ATP highlights. Spare room is the backstop,

I wear ear plugs when sleeping. My ears are also very sensitive. If I don't wear ear plugs the bird calls will wake me up.

I find a swimmer's ear plugs work the best.
Recall while on vacation a rooster crowing next door was our alarm clock. Tough after plying cards till the break of dawn. Guys were walking on the beach at night to go fishing. On standby for a trip home so had to sleep on a park bench outside the airport.

Slept in the spare room during the week so my wife gets a good night. The sleeping on the side works, rolling over is a problem.

No need complicated earplugs, lasers and divorce, get anti snoring belt. Like the below kind item. In few weeks retrain mouth position and breathe properly.

After stop snoring and achieve calm house if your wife still wanting a divorce, call the lawyer.
