LeBron can win 10 rings & you’ll still never convince anybody he’s better than Jordan. And maybe he would be but honestly nobody would give a sh*t either. Same goes for Djokovic. Outside of Serbia & apart from his club level pusher fans, nobody cares. In 10 years people will still be talking about 2008 Wimby, 2017 AusOpen & Nadal’s 13 RG titles. And Djokovic will be remembered as a consistent player who got really angry often & hit a line judge.

Right now? It’s all recency bias. I’mma give it some time. But for me, yes, atm Djokovic is GOAT. He’s def the projected GOAT for me, but hard to say right now if he’s better than Fedal. Let’s see what happens at W and USO.

I agree. For most of the world, style > substance. The thinking world sees things differently though. I know which side I'd rather be on.
 
I don't see Nadal winning anything but Roland Garros going forward
I don't see Federer winning anything but THIS YEARS Wimbledon going forward
I can see Djokovic winning any of the 4 slams at any point during the next 1-2 years.

So yeah, i see Djokovic as better than Federer and Nadal right now and i think he will equal 20 this year and possibly even surpass it.

Lol. We'll have to wait and see how that plays out. You have a point in the sense that Serena was crowned GOAT ages ago despite not owning the most important records.
 
I think this pretty much settles it for me. 2 career slams, leads against both of them in head to head and, more importantly for me, was able to defeat them both on their strongest surface.

The only thing that prevents me from actually enjoying this is how bl**dy ret*rded his fans are.

I think Double career slam, Nole slam, most weeks at #1, tied for most year end #1s, double golden masters, winning head to head over fellow GOAT contenders is worth more than being one slam ahead and having the most consecutive semi-final appearances in slams tbh

If you really believe that, then I would say you are delusional in the extreme.

Every tennis fan, expert & commentator will be talking about how good Novak was for decades to come and how he became the greatest clutch player of any of the big three, indeed one of best clutch players of all time when it comes to 5 set deciders.
 
I am leaning towards a yes. One slam title isn't significant IMO. Eventually, Djokovic will be GOAT.

Federer will only win one more Wimbledon AT MOST. He probably wins nothing major.

Nadal can win some RGs and not much more IMO.

For me he's the GOAT, yes. Look at his timeline of wins and that he had to deal with an awful lot of Federer and Nadal to get that done. Federer had a burst of insanely prolific results when Nadal and Djokovic weren't yet fully matured and then his results dried up BIGTIME, and Nadal's timeline is built on the absurd dominance of winning RG again and again. I like how rounded Djokovic's career is, its balance, and who he had to overcome all these years to continuously finish 1st or 2nd in the world in the year-end rankings.

Much of it isn’t even his fault. He’s from an Eastern European country. He played spoiler to the Fedal rivalry & he has a game which is tough to truly appreciate if you don’t play tennis. And the press never really warmed up to him. People made up their minds long ago about the Big 3. And unless Joker finishes with at least 4 or 5 more slams than Fedal, the debate will never end.

I am putting an additional 4-5 slams there because when Novak-Nadal were in early 30+ then number of 30+ guys in the top 20-30 ranks was too high compared to the previous gens, even when Fed was 31 then 30+ guys in top 20 was just 2 which was same as Sampras-Becker-Kuerten type gens....

So to Beat Federer's 20 he needs to reach 24 or cross it with 25.

If he does that then I will accept that he has raised the bar.

I think he can reach 25 to be honest, 6 more slams is possible for him.

Exactly. Fed won his majors in the Archetypal Weak Era and had his results drop like a rock when Nadal started to mature off clay. Nadal started to slow down when Nole came of age, and Nole smashed through Fedal and asserted himself over a competitive field comprising two GOAT contenders in an unprecedented way. We know who the best of this era is.

This is a funny joke. 12 of Federer's 20 slams came against Roddick, party Safin, neutered Hewitt, broken Agassi (who he barely beat), Baghdatis, baby Nadal etc. Not to mention his gimme Wimbledon win over an injured Cilic.
Nole only needs to get #20 to incontestably surpass Fed. He has everything else of importance in his favor

When Plexicushion arrived in 08 then Federer was in his 27th year while Novak was in his 21st year.

Had Fed also been in his 21st year then from there we would have seen Fed compete for the next 15 years with him at the AO, yet Fed got 3 AOs after that

These things will matter

Federer's peak fell in the 00s and Novak's was in the 2010s, there was no clash of the peaks, so some sort of adjusting to inflation has to be done.

If Nole is mentally exhausted and the draw opens wide like a gutted fish, then Fed could squeak another joke Wimbledon title (as if the Cryic Open wasn't enough). Otherwise, I think Nole is a pretty solid favorite, with a few contenders who could get in his way if they're on.
