To me, it looks like he has finally gained back his fire and passion!

His reaction after his last match sums it all up.

Infact, I still think he can still make a run for a slam!

What do you all think?
 
He definatly is looking better than he has been for a while. Good to see. Final maybe. But I don't think he will beat Fed.
 
Yeah his reaction was fantastic at the end of his last match! It Really looked like he was happy with the win. good stuff.
 
this seems like a bit of a strech to me. if i remember correctly, he'd have to get through djokovic and nadal to get to the finals. novak maybe, but nadal will be tough. i think he could pull it off though.
 
Djokovich might be a tough match but I think hewitt still has him on grass, I dont think Nadal's going to be a factor because he isnt getting past Youhzny
 
I think roddick has the best chance against federer apart from nadal as his serving is on fire at the moment and if roddick beats federer and nadal loses to hewitt. It would be a lleyton vs andy final which would be really interesting and maybe lleyton could pull through?
 
i dont think he is "finally back" just yet...making it to the 4th rd is nothing for hewitt

next round he's got djokavic, who is much improved since last year's us open encounter, where hewitt completely crushed him

i think he gets through djokavic in 4 sets, and has a good shot at making it to the final, especially if nadal bows out to youzhny or berdych

i dont remember the draw too well but if nadal and hewitt were to play each other would they meet in the quarterfinals or semifinals?
 
I don't think that Nadal can beat both Youzhny and Berdych, he even said himself one time about how Blake and Youzhny always beat him.(Don't ask me where I got that, I read it online). I believe in the Russian's abilities.

I like Hewitt's chances to make the final if he gets by Djokovic.

We'll see....
 
I think Nadal really struggled when soderling was hitting flat and hard against him, I think with Youzhny you've got another player who does just the same but is more consistent.
 
Hewitt is rising...

Hewitt seems healthy and is gaining momentum in this tournament, I said this before and I will say it again he will put up some solid results in the few months, leading up to Flushing Meadows.
 
I read an article that had an interview with Hewitt, I can't find it now but he said that he wants to be back near the top in the next 8 months and wants to have another crack at Roger for number 1. His heart is there but it is pretty dependant on Fed at this point on whether he gets another slam or not.
 
well, i think that if hewitt continues playing at this level, he will break into the top 10 for sure(maybe even top 5?)
 
In my opinion, Hewitt is unquestionably top 5 talent, especially considering he's a former year end number one. He hits so cleanly off of both sides, moves very well, has a great return, and is very competent at net. Add in his fiery disposition, his heart, and his desire to win and you have a guy who should be near the very top of the sport.

His honeymoon is over and it looks like he's ready to play well again.
 
Ah the lawn mower...straight out of 2005 when he was in the top 5. Intensity's back...more and more match play...he looks great
 
I would love to see him back in the top five. he surely has more dimensions to his game than most of those currently in the top ten. i hope he has a great hardcourt season this year....
 
ok, im gonna have to agree with u guys that pick hewitt into the finals. im convinced nadal cant get past youzhy AND berdych, so think it'll be hewitt or berdych (considering he won halle) against fed.
 
If Hewitt regains the intensity and keeps it I think that he can get back into the top ten by the end of the year. I picked him to get to the finals of Wimby. I think that he may be standing at bit closer to the baseline and hitting the ball a little flatter than he was last few years. He has also gotten back into shape and when I saw the lawn mower I knew that he is back!!!

I just think that with the hard courts playing a little slower than they used to will not play well for him. The big hitters will push him hard. But if he keeps playing well he should be able to make a run this summer.
 
If he were to hypotethically make it to the final or win this tournament, what would his ranking be?He's already top 20.
 
i was just watching coverage i taped from yesterday and i was surprised to see that they showed the ending of hewitt's match..that said, his reaction after match point was great, he's got that inner fire again and i hope to see him take out djokavic and book a place in the semis against either of the remaining players in the draw

i think if he makes it to the semis and faces nadal, it could be a really, really good match...anyone else and its almost safe to assume hewitt will win and face federer in the final

I have noticed a big difference in his body language. The "come'ons" are back and he also seems alot sharper around the court. Hewitt's serve and return during the championships could be the key formuale to his rise back to the top.

forget his chances. just hope he gets to the final, and think how good it would be to see hewitt win another wimby! so sick of fed and nadal winning everything! but seriously though if he gets past djokovic i'd back him to reach the final.
