A couple days ago I was challenged by a poster on this forum to name 50 things Djokovic has over Nadal.

After taking about 5 minutes out of my day for the past 3 days, I found 50 things Djokovic has over Nadal. They are listed below.

Well thought out, very good list.

I won't discuss all these points but my 3 favorites are 10, 11 and 14...
16,950 points. That wasn't his total at the end of the season but it's the maximum he reached (in June 2016 if I'm not mistaken). This Djokovic record rarely gets mentionned, but it's one of his most impressive ones for me.
Someone will need 17,000 to beat this one. Good luck.
Swiatek won everything she possibly could this year and she only has 11,000 points. Even Federer in 2006 (his best season ever) would have less than 16,000. Not sure what's been Nadal's highest total but it was also less than 16,000.

10 and 11 will be very difficult to surpass.
For 10, let's not forget he also won the World Tour Finals in 2015. So he held the 5 biggest trophies at the same time. Even Graf didn't do it in 1988-1989 (there was no WTF under Laver's Era so we can't compare).

I don't think anyone will ever win every Slams/Masters 3 times, reach 17,000 ATP points or held the 5 Majors at the same time twice...

Nadal's peak level was higher than Djokovic and Federers IMO but it was very short and he just doesn't have the numbers to be GOAT at this point. Djoker's consistency and all surface achievements is just out of this world.

I still think Federer was the better player overall but yes Djokovic has the most well rounded resume in the game.

Nadal OTOH has a lot of things that Djokovic doesn't

Anyways this is a waste of time, those who would actually care about these accomplishments on their own merit don't exist on TTW. It's all bias and agenda. There's not a single objective observer on here.

First half of the year it’s all about Bull Bull Bull and Djokovic takes the **** in Belgrade and everyone laughs at Jiri Vesely. Second half, then Djokovic wins two tournaments and Bull racks up some rough losses, Djokovic fans come out of the woodworks and Bull retreats. Like the tide. Honorable mention to the Rune hate train mid-year between the poor sportsmanship and 7/8 match losing streak or whatever it was. Now he’s ahead of Alcaraz/Sinner apparently. Can’t imagine how bad it must’ve been on r/tennis lmfao

Its a shame Rafa still negates all this and what you REALLY need on the list is missing :D

Imaging having everything and missing out on the biggest prize in tennis i.e slam record.
According to you Novak will have the record next year. Shortest ever reign at the top by Nads?

Nadal still has a ton of things over Djokovic that aren’t Slam record related anyways

let’s not forget that he actually beat PEAK Fed on his best surface while Djoko beat a 30 year old pretender

Stole multiple YE #1s from him in years where he wasn’t even fully fit the entire year (2013/19)

4>3 2-1 at the US Open

Ton of age related longevity stuff. Most weeks in top 3/5 etc. obviously a more accomplished player on his best surface than Djokovic on his.

There will always be arguments for each of them. Of course the one who ends up with the most Slams is in the driver’s seat. But regardless of who has more Slams I wouldn’t say it’s an open and shut case. Gun to my head I’d pick Djoker marginally if he does win the Slam race over Rafa, but I really don’t think he will.

With 2 slam clear you would prob take nadal but as of right now you would take Djoker based on all his other accomplishments

Lol, the level of coping Nadal fans are having in this thread is quite a sight.

And what a resume this guy - Djokovic has. Simply incredible.

90% of these are useless records.

This is why it is clear, that IF Djokovic catches Nadal in the slam count, he blows him out of the water with all these other records. This is why Nadal needs that slam record.

- He is also the oldest year ending number one.
- Only player to win at least 80 matches at all four slams
- Only player to make at least 7 slam semis all four slams
- Only player to win at least 7 slams at two different events
- Only player to win at least 7 slams at different events on different surfaces (Hard,Grass)
- Only player to win four slams in a row on three different surfaces

There are a lot more.

A couple more records for Djokovic

- Most Sunshine Doubles - 4 (2011,2014,2015,2016)
- Most consecutive Sunshine Doubles ( 2014,2015,2016)
- Most AO-IW-Miami triples ( 2011, 2015, 2016)
- Most big titles won in a row on the calendar - 7 ( USO 2015, Shanghai 2015, Paris 2015, WTF 2015, AO 2016, IW 2016, Miami 2016)
- Only player to win the first four big events of the season - (AO 2015, IW 2015, Miami 2015, Monte Carlo 2015)
- Only player to win the first three masters of the season (IW, Miami, Monte Carlo 2015)
- Longest time between first and last YEC win - 14 years

Djokovic also owns the record for the most consecutive appearances in big titles finals in events played - 17 big finals in 17 big events played....

Paris 2014, YEC 2014, AO 2015, IW 2015, Miami 2015, MC 2015, Rome 2015, RG 2015, Canada 2015, Cincy 2015, USO 2015, Shanghai 2015, Paris 2015, YEC 2015, AO 2016, IW 2016, Miami 2016

Also, if it is just a direct comparison between the two, irrespective of it is an overall record.

- More grass titles overall
- More grass slams
- More HC titles overall
- More HC slams
- More Indoor titles overall
- Djokovic also dethroned all of Nadal's 2010 wins ( Monte Carlo 2010 - dethroned in 2013, Madrid 2010 - dethroned in 2011, Rome 2010 - dethroned in 2011, RG 2010 - dethroned in 2015, Wimbledon 2010 - dethroned in 2011, USO 2010 - dethroned in 2011)
- Beaten Nadal at all four major clay events ( MC, Madrid, Rome, RG)
- Beaten Nadal in all clay masters finals ( MC 2013, Madrid 2011, Rome 2011, 2014)
- After losing in his first ever Masters final in IW 2007, Djokovic has never lost a masters final on HC to Nadal again, and only actually lost one match on HC in masters play in Montreal 2013
- Two winning streaks of 7-0 against Nadal across all surfaces.
- Djokovic is also the first and only player to beat the world number one (Nadal) in five consecutive finals ( IW 2011, Miami 2011, Madrid 2011, Rome 2011, Wimbledon 2011)
- Djokovic is only player to beat the same player in the final in three consecutive slams, that being Nadal ( Wimbledon 2011, USO 2011, AO 2012)

A couple of more trival ones

Djokovic has not lost on HC in over 9 years, he is 19-0 in sets played
Djokovic has not lost on grass in over 14 years
Djokovic has straight set Nadal at two different slams on different surfaces ( RG 2015, AO 2019)
Djokovic has won more sets against Nadal at MC and are tied 2-2
Djokovic has beaten Nadal at all four slams, the opposite is not true
Djokovic is only player to beat Nadal multiple times in clay slams
Djokovic only player to have dethroned Nadal twice at RG (2015, 2021)
Djokovic has wins over Nadal at 8 of the 9 masters, with the 9th being Shanghai, where they have not played
Djokovic has perfect records over Nadal at AO, Miami, Cincinnati and Paris
Djokovic only player to beat Nadal both outdoors (2011) and indoors (2018) at Wimbledon
Djokovic is only player to beat Nadal at RG and then win the title
Djokovic has a DCS which includes a win over Nadal at RG, the opposite for Nadal having a win over Djokovic at AO is not true
Djokovic has defended slams on two different surfaces at two different venues
Djokovic has won three slams in a row at two different events, Nadal only at one.

ATP Cup :-D :-D That’s when the desperation of this thread peaked.

Actually, this is okay. However, Nadal still leads 2 to 1 in National Representation matches with 2 out of 3 being played in HC. Overall if you include Olympics, Davis Cup, and ATP cup he is 43-5 (89.6%) vs 59-13 (81.9%). If you factor Bo5 then the disparity increases believe is like 24-1 (96%) vs 32-7 (82%)

It's pretty much a copy paste from Djokovic records Wikipedia page. :D

If you look at the Wiki page of the rivalry, it's quite biased. If you want to say he leads ATP Cup 1 to 0, but ignore Davis Cup 1 to 0 and Summer Olympics 1 to 0 then you are doing a disfavor to your favorite player. In addition, also having Djokovic lead Federer 11 to 7 in BO5 then leaving Bo5 stat in the Djokovic-Nadal page shows that it's not a neutral information page.

Now, if you wish to dispute this, you can! Just know that stats don’t lie.

You opened a can of worms, but this is the entertainment that this board likes. I think the highest overall winning percentage in the Open Era (83.35%) is one of the major records noted. They both have been wrestling each other for this record the last few years. However, it's not the highest winning percentage in tennis history.

Wilding won nearly 92 percent of his matches but died in service during WW1 and ended with over 630 wins. I would put Borotra second with nearly 84% and also over 600 wins. There are other players over 84 percent but have less than 500 wins so they should be disqualified from the list.
