Has anyone's opinions changed about him? Was this Miami title a possible peak/highlight of his career or was this the start of a future higher level of success for the Pole?
I think we need to redefine “journeyman”. Tommy Paul is journeyman. Hurkacz beating Shapo, Raonic, Tsitsipas, Rublev and Sinner to win a 1000 level title is not a journeyman.Nothing. He's a journeyman who got lucky to win a big title in a very depleted field.

He definitely rose above the level of journeyman to win this title. Also, all those players are much more than just solid. WTF winner, 2 time semifinalist in a slam, slam finalist...come on.So what would you call him then?
Also, you do realize that Shapo, Raonic, ****, Rublev and Sinner have zero masters titles combined, right? Raonic and Tsits are the only solid players from that group and even then, the first one is washed up and the second one cares more about his Instagram account than winning actual matches.
Journeyman is such a weird argument on this site.He definitely rose above the level of journeyman to win this title. Also, all those players are much more than just solid. WTF winner, 2 time semifinalist in a slam, slam finalist...come on.

did you forget there was no big 3+thiem?
Great thread topic.Has anyone's opinions changed about him? Was this Miami title a possible peak/highlight of his career or was this the start of a future higher level of success for the Pole?
He's 24 so nothing is not the right answer.Nothing.
Nothing wrong with that if you can serve good. Aesthetically not pleasing but Todd Martin changed to that later in his career.
i would have managed to injure myself 10 times when trying to do something similarSeems like a fun guy!
Here is Exclusive footage of him training to navigate through Shapovalov + Raonic + Tsitsipas + Rublev + Sinner en route to the Miami title:
Don't you mean Chris Woodruff? From my perspective as a Canadian it reminds me of Andrei Pavel's run in 01 for his Masters. He was ranked 42nd, beat Roddick, Haas (retired) and Rafter to get it. Made Paris final two years later and that was it.
yeah lost to tim "timbo" henman, tim winning his only masters, also beating federer. From my perspective as a Canadian it reminds me of Andrei Pavel's run in 01 for his Masters. He was ranked 42nd, beat Roddick, Haas (retired) and Rafter to get it. Made Paris final two years later and that was it.
One time wonder. He will suck on Clay, that just isn't his surface. and on Grass, his swing is too big so he will suck there too. He may reach the quarterfinal of Cincinatti, that will be about itHas anyone's opinions changed about him? He is already top 20!Not much on clay. With similar level and staying somewhat clutch, he could see some success on grass and medium+ HC. Maybe top 20 going into ‘22?
Really? Seems like his style of play is perfect for clay. One time wonder. He will suck on Clay, that just isn't his surface. and on Grass, his swing is too big so he will suck there too. He may reach the quarterfinal of Cincinatti, that will be about it
If you can catch up to Rublev’s ball on hard court your swing is not too slow or big. He injected pace into Rublev’s ball. Has a smooth swing so looks like he is not doing a lot of work. One time wonder. He will suck on Clay, that just isn't his surface. and on Grass, his swing is too big so he will suck there too. HH reminds me of Monfils. Plays lazy balls with seemingly no purpose, but then all of a sudden drills the ball for a winner. If you can catch up to Rublev’s ball on hard court your swing is not too slow or big. He doesn’t have the highest gear needed to win big titles. This just shows that Sinner doesn’t yet either
Fail thread...no poll for the Pole.Has anyone's opinions changed about him? Was this Miami title a possible peak/highlight of his career or was this the start of a future higher level of success for the Pole?
I assume you mean Slams because a Masters 1000 is a big title (just not as big as a Slam) so he has now shown he is capable of winning those.
