Autobots, roll out!

Wow this movie blew me away, it's got it all. Action, nostalgia, story(ok there are some dumb things here+there), romance, gorgeous chicks, and hilarity! My god I was laughing a lot, it's funnier than 98% of comedy films.

Best movie ever? Obviously not, but it is the best movie I've seen since KILL BILL that I can recall at the moment.

Here's the girl, she's unreal. Wowow.

The action blows you away, but there are holes in the plot which you don't realise anyway because the action blows you away. I would've liked more robots but the action blew me away regardless.
Oh, good action btw.

The voice of Peter Cullen in the opening seconds of this movie says it all as to how great it was going to be. Wow, the voice acting the artistic feel of this movie was from the original cartoons. Definitely worth seeing at least once, its a hell of an entertainment and being 2:30 long it delivers.

dude the 2 and half hours of amazingness were brilliant. but an hour and a half into the movie i got a pop corn kernel stuck in my throat and i kept drinking soda to try and wash it down but it wouldn't go down. i drank so much taht i had to go pee but i held it for an hour so i could finish the movie and it was so worth it.

"Sneaked in" yesterday after taking the kids to see Ratatouille. Was a little disappointed with some scenes. Some scenes were great. Others were not needed. Not to give anything away to those who hasn't seen it yet but: Why can't the good guys change to something better or more useful other than cars/trucks?

The scene with the mom/dad confronting Sam for locking the bedroom door was good. "Sam's happy place" :)

What's most surprising about Transformers is that a good 40% of the story is a well-written teen flick about all forms of geek love (blogs, **** . . . a black dude on DDR?!?) as well as an all-old fashioned tale about a guy, his first car, and getting the token Really Hot Chick. There's a bit using some songs that, if you're old enough to remember mullets, is VERY funny.

The Decepticons stole the show. Fighter jets flying through a city and transforming in mid-air is worth every bit of its $150 million pricetag. This was great porn for the military aerospace industry.

I was a huge fan of soundwave, the decepticon who turned into a radio.I wished he was in the movie but it would look weird, lol.

Michael Bay sucks.

Honestly, I don't think Michael Bay gets enough credit for his approach to action movies. He does a good job navigating mayhem without overloading the brain. Bay's stories usually takes their time setting up situation and characters before letting the action sequences completely take over.

For the Transformers movie, he and the ILM team were great with making the bots and transformations look at least semi-realistic. They were really good with approximating how sunlight bounces off metallic surfaces, and also conveying the weight of these monsters on the ground. His usual slo-mo "Magnificent 7" , "sky shots", and running sequences were also well suited for a bunch of robots wrestling all over a freeway.

why can't? the original cartoons are trucks and cars too.
and as you know, the dark side is always stronger.

I watched it last night. Overall, I would say it is a very good movie. You should watch it. Don't listen to the critics. and don't read the reviews, which will spoil it.
<if u haven't watched it, u can stop reading my post now>

although there are shortcomings, the biggest among which is the difficulty to differentiate who is who in the fighting scenes. Prime and Bublebee is very easy to recognize. the rest in the fighting is not very detailed. u can't tell who is the bad, who is the good. and of course, the movie is not the ending yet. there are so many other decepticons who are still around. and if u were still around during the ending credits scene, did u hear what Starscream said in the space? and of course some of the fighting scenes are too fast to see anything. e.g. Megatron catching and tearing Jazz is simply too fast. At first I thought he caught his own decepticons and tore him off because that guy didn't do his work well. lol..

Please discuss. Haven't seen it yet, going in the next few days. Had all the toys as a kid, can't wait!!!

i grew up watching the carton and i thought they did a fantastic job,
just like the x-men and spiderman movie. they had to alter a few things for hollywood and some holes were not filled in. but over all, the transformation from cartoon to big screen was out of this world.

i wish they had the technology to do this in the late 80s or even the early 90s and follow the cartoon more. maybe one of these days, they will go back and do that.

Craig Sheppard...I only had a few toys back then. i kept it all these years and bought some more before knowing the movie was coming out. those toys are so much better than todays crappy toy. you agreed?

I watched it last night, really loved the movie, most probably going to see it again with another buddy, but what did Starscream say? I left after the mom said that their head is bigger on TV.

Saw it a few hours ago and was floored. Just an incredible show all around. IMAX would've completely sealed the deal, but I guess we have to hope for a sequel? Major bonus for the voice acting!

Starscream said "I'll be back, Optimus Prime" when he flew off to space.
The tone sounds very much like it. Sequels are sure to come.

I'm sure there will be sequels... there are so many more characters they could use.

My major criticism of the movie is authenticity to the toys/cartoon. It was a good movie, but there are some nitpicky things that I didn't like that didn't parallel well w/ the toys/cartoon. Soundwave wasn't the same, and he didn't talk the same. Starscream's voice was all wrong. And Starscream is usually a whiny little punk@$$, which he wasn't so much in the movie. I thought the transforming was too over-done, it was neat, but just too busy. They also made a few characters that weren't toys/cartoon...

I still liked the movie, though.
