So You Think You Know Huh?

With the exception of one person, all of these men have two things in common.

1.Who's the exception?

2.What two things do they have in common?

Andres Gomez
Tomas Muster
Michael Chang
Carlos Moya
Yevgeny Kafelnikov
Albert Costa
Juan Carlos Ferrero
Gaston Gaudio
Rafael Nadal
Yannick Noah

I was waiting to see if anybody else had the answer because yours unfortunately is incorrect.

Sorry but I can't give any clues ... just yet .. oh yeah and btw, there men???

This is my guess without any research. They all have won one Roland Garros, including Kafel. But I think he's the only one to win another slam. Australian Open???

Just a guess.

You got the first part right but there's one other thing they have in common other than Kafey .... using him as a clue.

The exception is that all of them are one slam wonders except for Kafelnikov

B I N G O ... YOU WIN

One Slam Title Only to their credit and that one Slam was the French except Kaffy who also won Austrialian Open

Good Job .. ;)

Pretty soon there will be a bunch of people coming on here to say that Nadal is going to win tons of majors, he'll be a threat at all of them, yaddah yaddah.

The French has been a good indicator of who becomes a "one-slam wonder". Look at Moya and Ferrero, both of them so talented and tipped for tons of slam successes, and now they are not in contention because of recent injuries. It's certainly not too late for Ferrero to make a comeback(he's well on the way), but Moya is nearing 30 so who knows.

The Y-Man was a sweet ball striker with great all-court ability, but he was a major underacheiver, mostly because he was so obsessed with money that he burned out by playing singles and doubles every week, so he rarely peaked at big events.

Anyway, Ferrero has what it takes to win other slams, and Nadal should have success at the French and the Australian in the future, but he needs to figure out fast-paced tennis to win at the other events.

Hey, I got the answer right. But I wasn't going to call any of those guys one-slam wonders. Some of them are in the prime of their careers, or just are beginnnig them.

And, please, get a DVD of Rafa's match against Ferrero on hardcourt in China. Rafa has beaten Ferrero 4 times now, this year. Ferrero can possibly beat him, but Rafa's game matches up very well against Ferrero's. Ferrero is going to have to change things to beat Rafa on any surface.

Well the distinction was you said, "They all have won one Roland Garros, including Kafel. But I think he's the only one to win another slam. Australian"

which didn't necessarily indicate that was the only Slam Title they won (Thus Far) ... actually, the more I read your answer especially the second part of it, I guess in some sort of way, you were heading in the right direction .. ok you win too ...

The word 'Another' is what saved you ;)

Nice I was saved. *lol* Seriously, I didn't know for sure if all those guys had won RG, but I recognized most of them. And I knew Kafel had won two slams. Recently, there was a big discussion whether that's enough to get him into the Hall of Fame. Obviously, Jim Courier made it, with his 2 RG and 2 AO titles -- a bit more of a question re Kafel.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say, when all is said and done, Rafael Nadal will be in the Hall of Fame. :D

What are the qualies for entry? Is it more than x-number of Slams or X-number of titles solely?

That seems to be a matter of mystery. Maybe some folks here have views on it. There are some exceptions (Pam Shriver being one of them, at least in terms of singles??), but I think you have to have a slam or two under your belt, and perhaps a few more slam finals. Courier was a no-brainer, with 4 titles, plus also Wimbly and US Open finals. Obviously Sampras and Agassi will be there. Maybe Chang as well -- as part of the Fab Four. And maybe it will be partly because of his positive influence on Asian tennis?? That's probably the toughest call from that era.

Fed is also a no-brainer. Safin and Hewitt are on the brink, and likely to make it as well. I think Guga will as well, for winning 3 RG's, and being such a positive influence on the sport.
