Bad news...

Soderlings wrist isnt healing fast enough so he will miss USO by 99% certainty according to his coach.

I could give you a link but it would be in Swedish.

I been wondering where he's been, and how he's ranked 5 yet we haven't seen him for a while.

Now it all makes sense.

defending quarter finalist. Uncertain whether it will be detrimental to his ranking he's held for 2 years, It appears there's quite a gap but nothing is definitive.

I think he's parting company with Lotto too but again that's speculation for now.

Mag, please post the link if it´s no problem. :)
I´d simply translate it with the Google Translator, it isnt that bad either.

Tränaren: ”Det är ingen mening”
Robin Söderling, 27, riskerar att missa US Open.

US Open pågår 30 augusti-12 september.

Really awful news. The top 5 except for Nole has been subpar this year.

Thanks Mag, sad to hear that.
A fit Sod is a threat to anyone on HC.
Bad news there especially since he also has a QF to defend there, hope he recovers fast and gets back on the court asap.

Not sure but I think his ranking may be protected for a while because he is injured. I think that was the case with Del Potro for a time.

Worrying that he should be absent with the same sort of injury that put Del Potro out of action for most of last year. Hope it is not as serious.

I didnt believe the ATP had a protected ranking system, I thought it was only the WTA. In the case it does exist for the ATP as well I am pretty sure you have to be out a significant amount of time (atleast 6 months) for it to kick in. I am pretty sure Soderling will drop any points he cant defend if he returns by the end of the year.

Yeah i know, most people on here think i am crazy about Sod because im Swedish-thats not right, i played Sod when he was 17 and i was 21 and back then he was a maniac,10 times what he is today, he would scream b-i-t-c-h to opponents mom`s, tell his own dad to go f**k himself, throwing tantrums every time he fell behind, throwing chairs around on court and even telling umpires he would murder them  Its true

Most people on here doesnt seem to like him at all so sometimes i felt i should stand up to him, because he IS the real deal despite what some people here said, and yes, Swedish tennis really needs a "star", we are a very proud tennisnation that has fallen behind a lot since the 80`s.

That's very sad news, especially since he was showing some amazing form at Bastad, destroying 2 top 10 players in a row. I'm guessing this means his chances for WTF qualification are very low now. Hope he gets better soon and has a better 2012 season!

If it takes about 6 months injury lay-off before any protection is offered to Soderling then he is bound to go down at least one place and possibly two in the rankings if he doesn't show up at the USO.

He has 90 points to defend at Cincy and 360 at the USO totalling 450. At the moment he is only 35 points ahead of Ferrer.

Sweden has had some of the best tennis players of all time, so Sweden deserves the highest honor.

Joachim Johansson (one of my favorite players all time) was one of the most talented players I've ever seen, however He could never reach 50% of his capability due to his injuries.

I like Sod, but He was unable to improve his one way traffic way to play, I think He could have been better.

I hope He gets better soon, He needs to defend his MS in Paris.

Now when did Sod get injured?

Thats right. I dont wanna sound like a ******bag but in Sweden his gf is just average, nothing more.

LOL, I don't see much on her neither.

Swedish(Scandinavian in general) women are some of the hottest women on earth, I had a pleasure to date 2, really good looking, and they weren't a Victoria Silversted type, and that shows you how much of a room there to be reach, lucky guys you Swedish.

But when they come to US they let it go, they date all kinds of dudes.

Thats nice, hope you had a good experience :)

I agree. Swedish girls really let themselves go as soon as they are abroad, their "Im-mommys-cute-little-girl" charade totally disappears.

A poster (great guy, btw) on here practised with Soderling just before Rotterdam, perhaps he could chime in on this.

What`s there to chime in on?

He will probably miss the USO due to a wrist injury that appeared when he was working out in the gym.

Agree with the part i didnt quote.

In the gym the week after he won Bastad
How did it happen?? Where are the details of this?

I was actually very disappointed about how they presented themselves here, because I bet if they dated some of the guys they dated here, their parents just wouldn't allow it to happen, they would be mocked, very low standards that not even the pretty American girls from a nice family wouldn't do.

I picked up an au pair once at a club she was so hot, but when I got to know her a bit, I actually dumped her, what a ****!

Beauty wise, I'd say Sweden has the most per capita.

About the gym incident thats only a rumour, not confirmed by media but lots of "sources" (not online though) saying it happened in the gym.

I guess lots of guys have experienced exactly that with a Swedish girl :)

Thanx i guess ;)

Protected Ranking is only for entry into the qualifying or main draw, not for seeding nor for the actual ranking.

F. Entry Protection
1) Petition. A player may petition the President, or his designee, for an entry protection when he is physically injured and does not compete in any tennis event, including Special Events – Exhibitions, for a minimum period of six (6) months. The written petition must be received within six (6) months after his last tournament.

2) Calculation and Use. The entry protection shall be a position in the South African Airways ATP Rankings (singles), as determined by the player's average South African Airways ATP Rankings (singles) position during the first three (3) months of his injury. The entry protection shall be for entry into the main draw or qualifying competition or for special exempt consideration. The entry protection shall not be used for seeding purposes or lucky loser consideration.

3) Limit of Use.
a) If a player is physically injured and does not compete in any tennis event for a period of at least six (6) months but less than twelve (12) months, the entry protection shall be in effect for either the first nine (9) tournaments that the player competes in using the entry protection (excluding wild cards and entries as a direct acceptance with his current position in the ATP Ranking) or for the period up to nine (9) months beginning with the first tennis event, including Special Events – Exhibitions, that the player competes in, whichever occurs first.
b) If a player is physically injured and does not compete in any tennis event for a period of twelve (12) months or longer , the entry protection shall be in effect for either the first twelve (12) tournaments that the player competes in using the entry protection (excluding wild cards and entries as a direct cceptance with his current position in the ATP Ranking) or for the period up to twelve (12) months beginning with the first tennis event, including Special Events – Exhibitions, that the player competes in, whichever occurs first.

Anyway, I didn't think he would miss US Open. Really feel bad for Robin.

Not so fast. :)

Facebook update from his page about 20 minutes ago:

Robin Söderling
"Sorry guys I have been away for a while... My wrist injury prevented me to play in Montreal and Cincinnati but it's getting better and I hope to be ready for US Open. Thank you for your support and see you soon."

I really hope he recuperates in time for the Open, I want him to repeat his quarter last year at least.

I say **** the US Open and it's oppressive heat.

Just get fully fit, gather about 1.000 points in the indoor season. (which he can do, quite easily) and qualify for WTF.

Coach: "It makes no sense"
Robin Soderling, 27, likely to miss U.S. Open.

Tennis star has problems with a wrist injury.

- Robin has not played since the best and only practiced sporadically, says coach Fredrik "Fidde" Rosengren to Radiosporten.

Robin Soderling had problems with his right hand during a workout. The injury has kept the Swedish world-fifth grade away from the ATP tournaments after the Swedish Open in Bastad.

According to coach Fredrik Rosengren is likely to drop out of Murray U.S. Open.

- Yes, absolutely I think so, unfortunately. Last time I talked to him it was not good at all and when you do not know when to start and how much training you can get. It makes no sense at all to get on a plane to the U.S. if you have not been able to prepare, says Rosengren to Radiosporten.

U.S. Open going on August 30 to September 12.
