Soft, spin friendly poly

String Kong Orango Raw 1.28 (at 24kg it was spot on!) is Soft and Spin-friendly. If you're in Europe, you'll get it quite cheap. On their website it's sold for 9€ per set.
I've just finished playing this on the Powerful and Spin-friendly Diadem Elevate V2 FS98. For 5-7 hours it played exactly as advertized. 7+ hours into it and with several days in between playing, it dropped some playability, but still was playable even yesterday, when I hit about half an hour. It hadn't got any "launchy", or out of the usual in what it offered the previous times I played it, just felt some performance drop. I'll post my full review, maybe by the end of the day.

I have been playing X1/ Ghostwire or Dunlop Silk Pro/ Ghostwire hybrids for about 16 months. I am interested in trying a Poly in the mains instead of multi (keeping Ghostwire in crosses). Thinking about: Cyclone, HyperG(soft), or Black code fire for Mains?????
I’ve been on here long enough to understand strings are personal preference but just curious if anyone has taking a similar path from switching Multi/Poly hybrid to Poly/Poly hybrid
or opinions on the 3 I am considering……cheers!

I have been down your path with multi and gut mains, but it was getting costly as the multi wouldn’t last more than an hour or two and the gut like 6 hours. So I am now full poly and love it. No arm issues at all.

I always use T1 Ghostwire as a cross and my favorite setups in order in a 16 x 19 are below. I don’t play full poly longer than 8-10 hours as it breaks or I cut out for arm health.

1.25 Hyper G Soft/1.22 GW @ 44/42 - Great pocketing and control. I get 6-7 excellent hours out of this setup.

1.25 ALU Power Soft/1.22 GW @ 44/42 - Nothing better exists for 3 hours or so, then it dies. it is costly, but for important matches I will use this setup.

1.30 Cyclone Tour/1.27 GW @ 50/48. This is a great combo that doesn’t break the bank and very very arm friendly. Pocketing is outstanding. A lively setup so I string tighter. 1.30 only on the Cyclone Tour as the rest of the gauges are terrible at holding tension.

1.25 Grapplesnake Tour Sniper/1.22 GW - Good all around combination with alot of control.

thanks for the information! What do you think is the closest string to Ghostwire for a cross?

I think Kirschbaum Xplosive Speed 17/1.25 String might be an option. I found a chance to experience this string, and despite my Babolat Pure Drive 2021, there was no pain after playing. It is relatively soft and most importantly spin friendly—also an affordable one among the soft polys. However, using this string as the "poly" of a hybrid setup might be another good option as well.

The reels were $75(with 30% off) for Tour Hex/Hit Pro/Big Spin etc (and free shipping), $79 for DuraFluxx (plus $20 shipping to Canada), while M8 and Alpha are listed at $159.
So I stand by my math.
is this deal still going on. My elbow is hurting using yonex poly tour... thought i would try your recommendation here on tour hex.

Weisscannon ultra cable is probably the softest, its also very spin friendly - however tension maintenance is probably the worse for any poly string, i could tell a difference in 1hr of hitting, im a 4.5nrtp, couldnt play with it after 90mins.

Try toroline wasabi - i wouldnt say soft, but medium stiffness, but not harsh, great spin - lasts a very long time- for me 2nd longest lasting poly just behind Restring zero (is my fav poly and the longets lasting poly - for me) but restring zero is stiffer than toroline wasabi.

Could try solinco hyper g soft,

I've seen the tension loss complaints about Ultra Cable from several people on these boards, but I successfully play it until it breaks at a tension of about 45lbs. I string mine on a stringway drop weight machine on a fairly small headed frame, Rossignol F230.

What tension do you use and is it strung on a constant pull type machine? Do you have a dense or open pattern frame?

What I've noticed is there is an initial drop like many polys, but after that it's slow and controlled. I usually don't experience anything too drastic until right before it breaks. Usually when I notice that almost to breaking feel I go for a couple of big serves or returns and pop them and move on to a fresh stick. I also find that if I leave my frames strung in the bag for a couple of weeks that the initial tension loss will happen in the bag and there is nothing too noticeable when I start hitting with the backup frame. Using this method I can get by with only 2 or 3 frames depending on how often I'm playing and whether it's doubles or singles.

The mushy hybrid is actually Big Spin mains and Tour Hex crosses.
Dunno, they moved their distribution to Europe.

How would you compare big spin vs tour hex? is big spin soft and has great spin potential? I will be stringing it for head extreme.

could try also volkl v square similar stifness but more spin, lasts around the same

i think it's now come down to price.. i can get big spin reel for around 100.. where volki square is around 160.. hyper g soft around 120. i am leaning toward big spin now unless other two options are that much better.

Volkl V-Torque white is the softest poly I've played with. 11 bucks a pack. For me, it's too soft in combination with the soft flexy racquet I use.

ok, which ever string you get - tells us how it went
Will do.. i am going to hybrid it with synthetic gut. i really love that combo... Synthetic guts feeling is just awesome when contact is made.. But it must be paired with low powered poly since gut provides more power than i need. This combo is much better than full poly bed for me.

fyi, i ended up getting ytex quatro twist last year and still using it as go to. it's very soft with great spin potential. I can put a lot of spin compare to hyper-G or YPT. power-wise, hyper-g and YPT are more powerful for sure. String tension seems to last long as well.. but i am not a big hitter. my 12 year old son likes it a lot too. we are using full bed. tried hybrid setup with synthetic gut, which is also nice, but sg doesn't last too long.. so full bed is what we use.. I am using dunlop cx200 tour, my son use head extreme team.
