Softest poly with good tension maintenance?

Currently enjoying psgd but the lack of durability is starting to burn a hole in my pocket now that i've started uni and haven't got my stringing machine. Labour alone is costing me £11!!! What is an arm friendly poly that has decent tension maintenance? SPPP? Cheers

Energy as in polystar energy? Soft yes, good tension maintenance... no.

silverstring is not that soft and it is low powered. it's a control oriented poly. if you hit really really hard you may like it. it does hold tension well.

Just got SPPP 17L strung up in a hybrid w/ OGSM 17 58/56 and had light hit for about an hour. I have to say it felt very soft and comfy, pockets nicely and of course is spossed to hold tension like a champ.

Either SPPP or Topspin Cyberblue. Easily the two softest polys that I've played with that also offer all other required attributes.

Saw a few SPPP suggestions... SPPP is not a soft poly. Best soft poly with above average tension maintenance are Topspin Cyberblue and WeissCannon Turbotwist.

I normally use Alu Rough and Alu Power polys and to me the softest feeling ploys I've tried are Silverstring 1.20 and Hyperion 1.18.

Pretty contrasting stuff from what I've read lol - probably going to be stringing low 50s in a 16x19 pattern and/or hybriding with syn gut still. Would that open up my options?

OP just check out this tool and select "hide hybrid" button. you will easily see which poly is softer. i would call soft anything < 210. the softer poly you may be able to get away with placing in a full bed. the stiffer ones you may want to hybrid with some sgut like sheep micro. this of course is if you are concerned about your arm. i have had major elbow problems in the past but i was able to play with a full bed of weisscannon silverstring 57/54 and it was very soft. i placed the crosses 3# lower for fear of elbow problems. now i wish i had kept the entire bed at 57 because my ball was trampolining after the poly broke itself in. i should add that i swing a big stick at 375 grams (13.2oz) and a swingweight of 370. the racquet does all the work for me really which really helps prevent arm issues. if you are swinging a light stick, then you might have an entirely different experience.

Try pro hurricane feel.

Hyperion is softer than SPPP and from the same family, IMO the best option out there for what you are looking for, followed by Cyber Blue as mentioned and then SPPP Pure, Silver String and Pro Line II.

You should give Solinco Outlast a try.

My friend was having arm troubles because of the string he was using, but once he switched to Outlast, he did not even need to hybrid. He said the tension maintenance was great, power was good, feel was amazing.

I'm looking for a soft poly with decent tension holding and based on the TU data Babolat Pro Hurricane 18 looks to be a good choice but I haven't tried it yet.

Black magic plays quite soft and it has a pretty good tension maintenance. But I am not sure if you can get it in the UK.
Polystar Energy is very soft and great playability but tension maintenance is terrible. Maybe the worst I ever seen.

Ditto. In the past, I have had a few wrist issues using other polys but KPL II causes no pain, especially if I hybrid it with natural gut or or a syn gut. I've liked the 17ga the best.

I'm currently using Blackcode in a hybrid (1.24mm). It's very soft for a poly.

I think I had it strung a bit too tight though to begin with (60lbs). I'm going to try it at around 55lbs next time. When some tension drops off it plays fantastic.

A VERY soft copoly......!

(SPPP isn't particularly soft IMO, but it is quite a comfortable string)
