Softest Poly?

I'll be replacing my old stringing machine here soon and am looking forward to experimenting with different types of string. When I had my old machine I wasn't too knowledgeable as far as different string types go and only played with syn. gut. I can't wait to try my first full poly setup but I also don't want to kill my arm, can anyone recommend a soft poly or a good hybrid for a first timer?

topspin poly polar and cyber power are very soft. cyber power is the softer of the two but has a good power for a poly, almost like a syn gut. SPPP is also a good soft poly

Softest that I have experience with is Gosen Polyon SP. It is the 6th most elastic poly tested by the USRSA and plays as soft as most synthetic gut strings for normal swings, but firms up nicely when swinging hard. The primary downside is a bit more tension loss than the newer poly strings.

MSV Hex is supposed to be the most elastic, thus the reason for the amount of spin

Kirschbaum p2, is the softest I have tried, IMO, and I have tried a good bit.

Cool! I have a pack laying around from the sample pack offer.
Can you list the poly strings you tried that you feel are stiffer than this?
Thanks.

Sure, all I've tried are 16g.

Kirschbaum super spiky.
tecnifibre promix
tecnifibre spinfire
technifibre poly spin
Polyfibre poly hitec
Prince tour
Topspin Cyberflash
Signum Pro poly plasma/ this one was very close to the Kirschbaum.

Thats off the top of my head I know its a few more I just can't remember, sorry. Hope that helps you.

IMO--Cyberpower 1.25--really great string with great power and control and feel. I am still to try the Big Ace in 1.22--heard it is truly amazing!!

USRSA Tests.......

Here is a list of the 10 softest Poly string that the USRSA recently tested. Tests on this list were done with full string jobs only. As you can see they also suffer from tension loss except the Tecnifibre Promix strings.

Manuf String Gauge Stiffness Tension loss(lbs)
Babolat Pro Hurricane 18 1.21 187 22.29
Tecnifibre Promix 17 1.27 199 13.72
Head Sonic Pro 1.23 199 23.09
Pacific Poly Power 18 1.09 201 21.17
Tecnifibre Promix 16 1.29 204 14.99
Gosen Polylon Comfort 17 1.26 215 19.91
Gosen Polylon SP 17 1.25 215 20.70
Pro Supex PolyPowerSoft1.15 1.13 216 19.69
Kirschbaum Competition 1.20 1.19 219 19.09
Isospeed Pyramid 1.28 219 24.19

Sorry for the mess, I cannot get the columns to align. Hope this helps.

TennezSport

The Signum Pro Poly Deluxe and Pro Supex Big Ace are the exact same string marketed under different brand names.

I guess Signum Pro Poly Deluxe must be a pretty darn good string since it is similar to Big Ace. I played with it a while back and it felt different. Weird assumption you got there.

Both are older decent playing copolys. They are produced by the same factory. This is a fact that can not be disputed. They are the EXACT same string. GUARANTEED. Do a blind test and I would bet my life that NO ONE would be able to tell the difference, because there is none. They are the same. The difference you felt is purely in your head because there is NO DIFFERENCE.

Some ProSupex people, especially the employees who shamelessly post here do not want others to know that the string is older technology that can be found under different brands. Well, it is.

What about Leopard? They buy their Big Ace from Pro Supex. Why not Signum if it is the same?

Premier Ace and Leopard are the same string. Leopard DOES NOT buy from ProSupex, rather they both purchase their strings from the same Taiwanese factory. Signum Pro does not have a string that is the equivalent of Premiere Ace. In fact the Premiere Ace was originally intended to be a clone/knock-off of the Poly Plasma, but it is inferior to the Poly Plasma.

but Leopard strings are on the pro supex website?

That string wasn't tested by the USRSA this year and I've only purchased strings from TW and they don't seem to carry that string. Where do you get it?
Google it - no guts, no glory! I love it, but I think the regular Focus in 1.18 is even better - you can't go wrong with either one, plays very soft up to 55#.
