Softest Spin Oriented Co-Poly?

What is the absolute softest co-poly that provides decent spin? I currently play Technifibre X1 Bi-phase in 17 gauge in my IG Prestige Pro. I picked up a few Blade 104's and tried the same string. In the closed string pattern the X1 doesn't have enough spin. I love the soft muted feel of the X1 but need more spin to keep the ball in the court.

Are there any really soft co-polys that can get me as close to the feel of X1 biphase with more spin? I've tried many of the Lux strings (Savage, Alu Power Rough, Element) and they all feel dead and pingy. I hate the feel and sound.

Alternatively are there any soft spin oriented multis that might work?

I used to suffer from elbow and should problems and have tried a lot of polys. Some of the softer spin friendly ones ive tried are:

Volkl cyclone tour , great spin potential ,comfortable , soft to play with
Diadem Solstice (either version) massive spin due to the profile, very comfortable and soft
Yonext Poly Tour Pro , i didnt find one outstanding characteristic, but good at everything.

The downside to having "softer" strings is that the tension maintenance is often woeful, ive been in your position switching from and open to closed pattern, and ive noticed dropping the tension slightly also helps to open up the sweet spot a little. As a side note i opted for volkl cyclone and love it , but more harsh than the tour version , but lasts longer and is perfect for me.

Not a poly but try Monogut ZX. BiPhase comfort, great spin, feel/sound is a little tinny but you can cross it with a better feeling string.

I've heard good things about the cyclone tour. The second blade I bought used had Solstice in the mains and some other string in the crosses (don't recall), I HATE the feel of that combo. Maybe it's the strings in the crosses but the string bed feels stiff, dead and has a really nasty pingy noise when hit compared to the nice dull thud of the X1 in my other blade 104.

No poly will feel even close to X1 unfortunately :/
To fully enjoy properties of poly strings you must swing very fast and with proper technique - if you just push the ball practically all of them will feel like a frying pan. Thinner gauges tend to feel softer in general.

With that said the softest, spinniest I tried would be

Volkl Cyclone Tour as mentioned above.

Pro Supex Big Ace (probably the softest)

Tourna BHBR

Weisscannon silverstring (not so spinny but great soft feel) and turbotwist

Start them all at 50lbs and enjoy!

You can also try putting a really comfortable poly in the mains, and then a thin, spin friendly poly in the crosses.

I bought some Solinco revolution yesterday, it's supposed to be a softer spin friendly copoly. I also bought some Solinco Vanquish which is supposed to be a X1 like multi. I may try a hybrid of that and see if the multi can give me the feel I want and the poly can give me the spin.

Revolution is soft-er but still firm. I really like it in 18g in 18x20 patterns. One of my all time favorites

Vanquish hits nothing like X1 in a 16x19 frame with multi as the cross. I got the local store to carry Solinco when the owner had never heard of the brand, back when Revolution and Outlast were their only polys. Vanquish is a very crisp, not that soft feeling multi to to me. NRG2 and X1 used to be my favorite multis and I still have 3/4 of a reel of each, but their prices soared like an eagle and I choose to move on. Prince Premeire Control (PPC) 15/15L/16 is a great substitute at $10 a pack versus 18.95 a pack of X1 when X1 is not on sale.

I have yet to find a hybrid that produces the spin of some of the best polys, but Head Hawk is a very slick poly that works well with a thicker 15 or 15L multi like Prince Premiere Control for string breakers who don't like full poly. Weiss Cannon Silver String Mains/ PPC 15 or 15L crosses is my go to setup for string breakering 4.0 guys.

Been using Cyclone Tour 16g since the spring of 2014. I personally think Volkl should have named this string "Thor". ;) Cyclone Tour 16g aka Thor, but don't get the 17g. The 17g drops tension much quicker than 16g. I have four reels of Cyclone Tour 16g at my house. I have seven friends playing with Wilson Steam 99S frames and 16g last about 12-14 hours for me in a Steam 99S.

A lot of this is down to trial and error, and trade offs in certain areas. A comfortable poly and guy hybrid will, depemding on your choice of poly, not last too long. Volkl sell a hybrid pre packaged called psycho, which is worth a go , its cyclone and their premium gut. For me the extra comfort is not worth the massive drop in durability, and you will also notice a decrease in spin.

Ultimately you wont find a poly that feels like a multi but has the characteristics you want. The trial and error comes in depending on your personal preferences and where you are prepared to "wiggle" from your optimum levels in each area.

For me cyclone is ideal , it gives me awesome spin, and the extra comfort i sacrifice initially until it "beds in" saves me money with increased playability and tension maintenance.

Hope you enjoy your journey , its really rewarding when you finally find the right setup

.

I think you mean to type "comfortable poly and multi hybrid" because gut/poly is extremely long lasting.

Pacific Tough Gut 16g / Head Hawk in a 16x15 Steam 99S lasts me over three months. Cyclone Tour 16g in the same frame last about 12-14 for me.

Natural Gut is far more durable than poly, hold tension and provides a lot of spin with a slick copoly cross. And it is the softest strings available.

Can you compare the red ghost to anything else? I just got in in the mail, wondering if I should up the tension a couple of pounds since I heat it is springy and nore powerful than your average poly
It does have a bit more pop. You could go up a few lbs if you string at low tensions. But I string it a 44 and it plays great.

Im venturing into "less than 50" these days. Is it conparable to any other string? It feels kinda gummy in hand

It doesn't play gummy. But it's the most comfortable poly I have tried. I can't really compare it to any other polys.

Sounds like excactly what Im looking for in poly. Will string this at 50/48 in the prestige graphene mp, looking forward to see how it plays. I can get a reel of this for $75 in europe

I am probably not that experienced in the poly strings. But Topspin Pure Concept was very soft compared to other couple of polys I tried. I did get a lot of rotations on the ball with that as well. Try it and see.

Tried Solinco Hyper G in my Blade 104. Not bad, way less stiff and dead feeling than most Lux strings and less metallic ping sound at impact. The spin is awesome, can take big swings and it keeps the ball in. The initial launch angle is pretty high but the ball drops in.

Anyone played with Genesis SpinX? I just strung my two rackets, one with 16g and one with 17g. Still experimenting around with the softer polys.

I have Pacific Tough Gut 16 in the mains at 52 and Big Hitter Black 7 in the crosses at 47 in my Volkl V1 Classic. It has been the best string hybrid combo I have ever played with. Very comfortable on my chronic elbow tendonosis and plays very nicely. I get plenty of spin with my Eastern forehand grip. Can only imagine what a semi-Western grip could produce!!

If you want co-poly and really arm safe (which I did too) then take any soft co-poly mentioned here (Volkl v-star gets my vote) and put Ashaway ZX mono gut in the crosses. It works at lower tensions too. ZX on its own I found to be horrible, but as a cross it works great.

The major bonus is that you don't have to keep restringing to keep it 'safe' for your arm as you would with a full copoly string bed.

tour bite soft 17g 1.20mm. Very soft with good(with respect to other soft copoly ;) ) tension maintenance!and good spin!
My choice also. I have shoulder issues but never have any post-hit pain with it. And the groundies have plenty of spin and come down fast just inside the baseline.

Since I'm only 'comfortable' not filthy rich I start mine around 52/54 and they probably really come into their own after a few hours after dropping into the upper 40's.

Tour Bite soft 16L - mid 40s. Superb ball pocketing. And doesn't overstretch the poly (the main culprit for killing the strings).

I have a strung full bed of Tourna bhb 7.. it's pretty soft but it seemed (to me) to drop tension quickly and I had to adjust every time I took it out to hit or adjust during hitting. Any suggestions if I were to string again with bhb7 using a syn cross or different poly cross hoping to support the apparent tension loss and still being able to keep some of the spin potential of the bhb7 or just adjust the tension on the next setup higher and go full again??
(original setup Pure Strike 16/19 @ 55lbs full bhb7)? thanks.

I'm liking the Genesis Spin X 16 gauge so far. The first 2-3 hours were a little rough but since it's felt really good. I wish I would have picked up a few more packs when they were on sale.
