Solinco Hyper-G... who has tried??

Dude there was a whole playtest thread for it when it was a green prototype. As one of the playtesters, I'll give you my thoughts:
I found this string to be a more control oriented version of tour bite, despite it did NOT lack in the spin potential compared to tour bite which undoubtedly has a great amount. Tension maintenance was above average, but maybe not WAY up there, but still I'm pretty sure it was a little better than tour bite. It was virtually the same as tour bite on serves, volleys, and smashes. It's an awesome string to conclude and you should definitely try it.

Gotta be honest, I thought it was a milder version of tour bite and I didn't like it. Felt stiff and just unresponsive. I cut it out after three sessions. Might like the 18 more.

I got a chance to test the HyperG 16 for Tennis.com and I loved it. More energy than TourBite and I was able to string it a couple of lbs higher without it feeling too stiff. Definitely worth a try for any TourBite fans.

How would you compare it to RPM?

I have been using this for about 2 months now quite a bit and have found it to be really nice. The spin has been exceptional for me and the pop and kick on serves is better than just about anything else I have used. I really wish is was available in Black as I don't really like the bright green and I have shared this with my contact at Solinco. For me is has been a really good string at about 47lb. mains and 48lb. crosses. I did break one set but overall it has been dead before breaking after using it for about 4-6 sets.

Comparison to RPM or Outlast?

Compared to RPM this seems a bit softer to me and I think it performs well at lower tensions, I don't think RPM does. I also feel like this bites into the ball a bit more and holds tension better. I like the Hyper G better than RPM as I find RPM to only perform at its best for about 2 sets after it's strung. Hyper G also seems like it has a bit more snap back as the ball comes off the strings.

Ahhhhhh RPM. Well, how do you compare tour bite to RPM? Now see my comparison of this string to tour bite, and you should understand. But to help, it is a little livelier but not as much as tour bite and the spin potential is awesome like either of these strings. I find it holds tension better than both other strings.

Pretty average string. Similar to TBDR and TBS but nowhere near as good as either.

Funky colour though, if that sort of thing floats your boat.

For me I like Hyper G better than RPM and I like it much better than tour bit. I find it to be quite a bit stiffer than tour bite and better control as well as holding tension better. I actually find this in a 16g to be somewhat similar to Luxilon 4G.

More energy ? does that mean It has more power than tourbite ?? I like stiffer feeling poly without hurting the arm. and it looks like this one has tremendous spin due to its rectangular sharp shape, so I expect much more spin than Tourbite.

I find this string to be less powerful than tourbite by a good bit. I also find it has more spin but that could be due to the lower power. I did try out the Solinco Revolution and it is a very nice string for sure. I would advise giving it a go and see for yourself. I string pretty low and kept the Revolution in the same range as normal, about 47 lb. and it was quite nice. I did find it to go dead in about the same time as most poly's for me 6-8 hours of court time, if they are not broken by then.

TW gave Revolution higher score in Power by good margin. than Tourbite. did you think TW was right ? Revolution has more power than Tourbite ?

Hit with Hyper G for about 10 mins in my teammates racket yesterday. 16g at mid-50s tension. The ball really pocketed the string bed nice, providing good access to spin, and tons of top. It played much softer than Tour Bite, Revolution, Outlast, and even Solinco multi filaments. I found it interesting the some of my slices were floating long. I didn't hit volleys or serves with this setup, might have to order myself a set. The ball-pocketing was too nice to not give it a try.

Wow, I'm not saying you're wrong as we all have different opinions, but my experience has been very different. I find this to be a pretty stiff string in my racquet and the life isn't too good for me either, I get about 6 hours of court time and then they feel really dead. I like it very well when it's fresh but the time that it stays good for me is pretty short. I prefer Revolution, Cyclone Tour and my norm, Black Mamba.

In your pro stock Prestige, Im sure that stick is a bit more string-sensitive. Plus, most strings feel dead in a TGK, as pros are looking for the most dead/control-oriented response when they chose that frame. Ill get it strung up in a couple different frames and report back, and I cant really comment on the durability yet.

Gotta love that green color. I've been very interested to try it but I'm not sure if my arm can handle it. My history with solinco strings hasn't been the kindest to my elbow

Damn just read the stiffness rating of Hyper G 16g (219!!!!!!)

That's a stiff string. Apparently my feelings were off a bit. Interesting that the TW Team of Chris and Michelle both found it to play comfortable.

Getting in a racquet tomorrow at 55 (which is actually 50 on the shop machine) interested in trying a shaped poly and looking for some more access to spin as i try to add a more updated and western forehand. Looking forward to using racquet 3 as an experimental one over the winter. Will try some hybrids, multis, etc as well.

I played it for about 3 weeks + in my POG this August. I liked the way it played, but I did develop some numbness in the pinky side of my hand, which I self diagnosed as a nerve impingement. This was right before Sectionals, so I switched to Cyclone 18 for that tournament and then took a couple weeks of weeks off during which time the numbness problem went away and hasn't been back. I have played many different polys this summer and this is the only one that has caused me a real comfort concern.

it is comfortable, I didn't notice any shoulder issues at 8 hours of play. but I do agree that 18 G is right way to go for more Feel and more spin. I think 16 G will be too stiff and may feel like plastic board.

Sounds painful
Indeed my friend, indeed. No pain, no gain right. You never know, this might become your new favourite G string because it ain't no ordinary G string, it's a HYPER G string. JUST DO IT! *insert Shia meme*

P.S. I'm in no way associated with Solinco.

P.S.S. I have never owned or used any Solinco products so I don't know what I'm talking about but you should take my word anyway because Solinco is da best.

Just hit with this in a DR 98 and really enjoyed it. I think that this string works a little better than PTP in this frame at the same tension for me.

I'd like to try it in my Tour F 97s as well.

Valid. What gauge did you play with ? And what frame were you using?

What Gauge Hyper-G and what tension(s) did you enjoy it in the DR 98?

I'm using the 1.25 (23/22 kg) on a RF Autograph. Next time I'll go for the 1.20 version, as 1.25 is closer to 1.30 than 1.25. It's a great string, stiff but comfy, no arm problems whatsoever so far (and I have a sensitive elbow). And yes, I do hate the color, hope it'll come in black or silver in the future.

Seems like a great string when I strung them for my customers...
I actually put a hybrid HG/Yonex Tour Super Pro Mutli on a Babolat Pure Aero and great spin potential and seems stiff but not at all...
Great pocketing! Try it out

16L in an old BLX Blade 98, interesting. Loads, well for me anyway, of spin. Pocketing on point. That color tho!

To be sure, it felt a little stiff, at first. I strung it low and it has been fun. But as an older player, I will look for softer

I'm playing the 16g in my BB 11 MP 18/20 @ 48/44 and love it. Like others have said it pockets the ball nicely and the feedback is consistent throughout. The surprising thing for me is I feel the string is not stiff. No issues and I had shoulder surgery jan 2014, but I do like to string in mid 40's and this strings low power/high spin combo makes that work.

I just went out and played with the 17g hyper g at 50lbs on my pure aero plus. I thought it definitely pocketed the ball well, but maybe I need to up the tension quite a bit because I actually thought it was quite soft and powerful for a poly. Did not feel a ton of control and thought the launch angle was a little erratic. Going to cut it out and try a new set at 55lbs. I much preferred rpm blast in the Pure aero plus at 50lbs and my hitting partner said I hit a much heavier ball with it.
