Solinco M3

Blackout Pro - Keep it glossy - Prism Grommets - Maybe Prism Decal options
The problem with that is the mold in no way resembles the “regular” Blackout. At least with other “pro” versions they’re either thinner versions of the “original” mold, or same mold, but different weights.

I’m thinking they should break from the “out” nomenclature if this thing is really gonna take them next level
Why? Babolat stuck with the “Pure” prefix for everything. Seems to be doing fine for them. At least it’s better than “Ki Q+ 5 Tour Pro”, or “ATS Textreme Tour 100 290 Carbon”…

APD? Babolat kept the Aero Pro Drive line was around for a long time.

Because most other words ending with OUT are crappy words.

I stand corrected, although they did eventually rebrand it.

Regardless…there have been worse naming conventions. I think the main issue is they prefixed it with the color of the frame. So, keeping with that scheme, there aren’t many colors that colloquially go with the “out” suffix. The aforementioned Brown is all I can think of right now.

In honor of this thread...the Solinco Chill out!

I could care less what a frame is called. It just needs to perform well and this one is just excellent.

My hope for the Solinco Highlight 305!

305g, 99 headsize, 16x20 pattern
22mm constant beam
6 pts HL balance strung
325 swingweight strung
63 RA strung
Glossy paint, canary yellow and black

Can’t think of a more perfect racket for the modern game. These specs provide complete versatility, weaponry and comfort with absolutely zero downside. Solinco is sitting on a gold mine if these ideas come to fruition. I know it!

I have the oval one, and have not measured it. But eyeballing it, I’d guess somewhere on the order of 23mm at the throat, tapered to 22mm (maybe 21.5?) at the tip. Yes, it looks to be a reverse constant tapered beam, but only slightly.
I believe it’s a constant beam. I think the taper is an illusion because the throat is a rectangle box beam while the hoop is a D beam like the Blade. I don’t have a caliper to measure the beam thickness but I compared it to my Blade 100 and it appears to be slightly thicker.

They could go clearOUT and go with a more subdued clear coat type gloss. Then go crazy with grommet colors and strings.

Excited either way!

GreyedOut
Gloss grey, maybe more cement color than gunmetal
Even a charcoal blackish/greyish would be cool

Also when you say it quick it sounds like you're saying "great out"
So spreading positive vibes on court.

Please include this in your official feedback to them.

Maybe a collab with Nintendo, get Tyson for the commercials to air during USO at launch. Dream scenario

#TooBigToFail
Doesn't Tysons daughter play tennis ? Probably could get Tyson and his daughter to promote it.

I'm thinking this could work, I'm thinking like an Urban Camo, black white and grey

That could be a little tricky since that's what the whiteout and blackout V2 paintjobs are.
I was thinking a solid color.

I could also see them either going red or maybe a mach10 blue color to add some pop to the racquet line up. The name would then be the challenge.
Design is tricky especially with a whole new frame.

Received my prototypes a few days ago.

Its just beyond shocking to me that my first demo setup on the Oval-M3 (apparently the same one that Amy Zhu / Jack Kennedy use) can beat out a racket (on baseline ground strokes) I have used and optimized for 18 months. No issues flattening out the ball. Did not really need to loop up the ball to produce heavy output. Produced more errors from hitting partner than the "optimized" EZ98 or the Round-M3.

Are these at or near the 305 g, 32 cm, 290 sw unstrung specs that were mentioned earlier?

Yep

Oval-M3 - 305.8g/289.Xsw
Round-M3 - 306g/292.Xsw

I didnt focus too much on balance till after I strung it up.

These Protos are quite different from each other so "matching" to each other is not expected. I believe this is to get feedback on which is any mold+layup should enter final production (if and I really hope they do)

My round and oval at matched specs swing through contact quite differently. I actually ended up relocating the lead on the round one which I initially placed at 10 and 2. Removed 1 strip of lead and relocated the remaining strip to 12. This new setup on the round has improved the performance but still not quite up to the level of the oval. I’m still experimenting with more setups to see if I can extract more performance out of the round. The oval has been so good that I haven’t felt a need to mess around with anything other than different string setups.

I’m in Hawaii for a couple of weeks so won’t be able to try them until June, but am curious what string and tension you used. I strung the V2 Blackout 300 at 44 pounds with Confidential Soft 1.20 and that felt good to me, but I think most players string tighter than I like.

I used regular Confidential 17/1.20 @ 49 lbs (i'm also using a Neos 1500 LO so your mileage may vary)

I generally string 16x19 100” frames at 45/43, 98” frames at 43/41, and 95” frames at 41/39 on an electronic constant pull machine. If they are 18x20, i adjust the tensions accordingly as well.

My initial string jobs on both the oval and round were at 47/45 to account for tension loss resulting from new grommet break in.

My subsequent string jobs were at 45/43. After 3 string jobs on the oval, I feel I need to up the tension to 47/45 while I want to try lowering the tension on the round to 44/42 to compensate for the denser center on the round.

On a separate note, Tour Bite Round 1.25 has been the best string setup to date that I’ve tried in these frames.

Is the round mold like a Pure Drive 100 or more tear drop like a Gravity? Are these foam filled? Sounds like at least one of these is great stick…wonder if RP consulted on this one…

Head size 99 sq in
Weight 300gr
String pattern 16×20
Balance 31.8 cm
Beam width 23 mm constant
Colors Grey gloss, Black gloss
Swing weight 290-295

Sounds a lot like this racquet with just 5 grams in the handle.
