You mean in 18g? I was able to get a reel of 18g Tour Bite from a local shop, but haven't been able to restock since i ran out a few weeks ago...maybe thats why the shop doesn't have it anymore

got to hit with the barb wire for the first time today...i must say, i was very very impressed. after 4 hours of hitting, my initial impressions of this string are that it has noticeably more spin than the tour bite (and as a result i felt i got more control), it was softer than the tb and revolution in a full bed, and felt that it had less power than the tour bite.

im guessing that i used either 16g or 16L but i need to verify that with solinco. also thinking of dropping the tension a tad the next time i string it up (had it at 54 lbs). overall, i think this string is The Real Deal Holyfield and will catch on fire when it finally gets released sometime soon. Really loved the control i got from the added spin and how soft it was in a full bed considering it is a poly. no tension loss issues at all either (after 4 hrs). was considering trying a hybrid with the true feel, but may not be necessary since i found it to be soft.

will post further comments after more playing time....

Are you guys prestretching the Solinco strings? The Revolution 17g seemed to lose tension a little faster than the Focus Hex 18g I have been using, the Revolution does have a sweet, soft feel that I like better than the Hex. Should the Revolution be strung a little tighter with anticipation the tension will drop? Looking forward to trying the Revolution 18g.

I have never tried prestretching the revolution or any other solinco string for that matter. Ive played with the revolution in the 50-54 lbs range as a full bed and it played great for me

anyone have a more specific date on when the barb wire will be released? also curious what gauges it will be available in....

mc shift- did you get to play with the tru feel yet? if so, how do you think it would play in a hybrid with the barb wire?

I believe i was told the second week of august....

I strung up a hybrid of tour bite and true feel at 53/56 and so far im not impressed compared to my usual hybrid of tour bite and OG Micro sheep. Im sure many people will really like it but maybe its too soft for me. idk, its hard to explain, like it almost dampens the feel of the strings too much and so far i think its lacking power...but ive only hit with it once so far...ill report more later

I judged the revolution a little prematurely. I thought the tension had dropped initially after stringing, I guess I just hadn't broken them in yet. The string is playing great now, and I have played about 10 hours with it so far. Plenty of spin and the feel is the best of the polys I have tried so far. I still want to try the 18g revolution, but I think I have found my string.

Thanks for your quick feedback...

You found it that soft, huh? To the point where it almost gave you a dampening affect....interesting.

At the request of my customer, I strung up a hybrid of Tour Bite 17 (mains) and Outlast 17 (crosses)...He saw some other people doing this poly-poly hybrid and asked for it. Looks pretty hot in the racquet. Interested to see how he thinks it will play.

Curious, if any of you guys out there that have the barb wire have tried it in a hybrid with the tour bite? From what i'm reading it looks like the Barb Wire is softer and a little lower-powered than the Tour Bite. Thought it might compliment each other well?

I've been seeing mixed views as to the stiffness of the barb wire. Someone on another thread that the barb wire was noticeably stiffer to string than TB and a bit stiffer than TB during play.

If you get a chance go Tour Bite and Vanquish - better set up.

I hit with it again today but this time i was using a new can of balls and i think that made a big difference in getting the true experience from the strings... now im starting to like the true feel hybrid (not as much as my typical TB and OG Micro sheep) but it has a nice feel to it and i was getting great pop from it, maybe a little too much but i served the fastest i have in a while...

the vanquish will provide even more pop than the true feel which is why i think i will like it better. im not expecting it to be as soft as the true feel though...

do u prefer TB over the BW?

well its hard to say because i have only tried BW in a full poly and i have only tried tour bite in multiple different hybrid setups. So far ive decided that i still prefer a hybrid setup but im thinking that i will like BW better than TB in a hybrid setup, i hope to get more soon but my contact at solinco hasnt responded to my emails lately...

I just decided to switch from babolat rpm blast 17g (i didn't really like it ) to solinco revolution 18g. i will post a review of it (it might be a bit inaccurate though considering this will only be my second time trying a poly). it gets here in 5 days and will take a while to get it strung but once I've played with it for a bit I'll post a review.

I finally decided to switch to Solinco TB 17g after a couple of weeks of playing with it. Unlike BB Ace 18g which was uncomfortable to my arm and shoulder, TB 17g is amazingly soft for a poly, and has a lot of power. Spin is definitely higher than my old string (Prince TS 15g), but not by that much. I string it at 60 lbs, which seems to be just perfect for me.

I ordered it directly from Solinco because that the only place i could find it plus you get free shipping and if you buy a reel you get 4 free sets of string of your choice. let me know if you would like their email...

How do you go about ordering a reel from Solinco? Their website didn't have a store, did you just call/email? I'd rather buy it from TW, but 4 free packs is a nice deal.

does anyone know how if i could get free sample packs of the strings from solinco? I've heard people talking about them but im not sure if you have to be a "special case" to get them.

i got them when i ordered my first reel, and i had no previous contact with them before...so idk, but i assume they still are...just ask...

Mcshift sorry if this has already been mentioned in the thread. But which of the 3 strings do you like most by solinco? I recently tried the REvolution 17g at 57lbs and loved it. About to try tour bite/vanquish crosses at 56 58 this week.

I have tried all 3 and (although i havent yet tried BW in a hybrid) i think i would like BW in a hybrid the best although i really do love hybriding tour bite...so i cannot be sure till i hybrid BW.
lol sorry its all speculation cause ive only tried BW in a full poly setup and R and TB in hybrids...
i currently have tour bite/ true feel in one of my PSL's and so far it started out being hard to get used to but im starting to really like it...
otherwise my tradition favorite setup is tourbite18 / Gosen OG Micro Scheep 16 at like 52/55

are you planning on hybriding the barb wire with the gosen og or true feel?

probably with true feel since i have that in my otehr stick...then i can compare the same hybrid cross string with tb and bw

i plan on trying the same hybrid as well (barb wire and true feel). looking forward to hearing your review on it....

Has anyone tried a Tour Bite x Outlast setup? I have tried Revolution x NRG2 and Tour Bite x Vanquish hybrid and really like the Tour Bite x Vanquish. The only problem is the durability as I rip through the Vanquish within a week so it is getting kind of expensive.

I read Outlast is one of the softer Polys so was wondering if the softness can some close to Vanquish as that was one of the things I really liked about the string. The red color is a big plus as well of course

Revolution

I really like Revolution and use it with NXT then.
Is tour bite better?
What is a good combination with tour bite then.

FXP Mains @ 57 lbs and TB Crosses @ 54 lbs...

I found plenty of power and control though in my groundies, and was able to generate plenty of topspin and underspin and the strings felt good on the attack. Balls that sailed were due to poor form. But when just simply hitting, I could control the ball with ease and drop the ball at various depths in my opponent's court. Volleying felt really soft and shined when I hit cross court shots. I had plenty of pace and control again. Serving with this stuff is awesome as well. Found plenty of power and it didn't hurt my arm which is a huge plus. I found myself going a tad bigger on my first serves and was taking bigger cuts on my kick serve (which still needs some work, but i was able to manage even some second serve aces :)). Overall, I enjoyed using the string, just can't get past how much it moves, but oh well, this is not a deal breaker!

How was the durability of this and you think its better than a full bed of Tour Bite. what gauge of each did you use?

I've hybrided the Tour Bite with multifilaments and polyester, but usually with the Tour Bite in the mains. I would have thought that having the Tour Bite in the mains would allow for better spin.

I have hit with it for a few hours of hard hitting, so it is tough to say. I am going to try the TB in my mains next time around. The gauge is 1.20mm (17 i think). I can't really say if it is better with a full bed as my elbow won't allow me to go full poly (TE). But I do like my hybrid set up, will flip-flop the mains and crosses next go around.

From my experience, I don't string up the Tour Bite any tighter than 55, with the average tension, of course depending on the frame, is probably around 52 or so which seems to work well. I guide all of those that i strnig for to the lower tensions which I think still play great.

I haven't tried the FXP in a long time...maybe once in a friends racquet some time ago. Maybe i'll give it a go again
