what do you think of the paintjob? white looks pretty cool but i have to imagine black is meaner...damm now im curious as I've only seen the blanks

What I saw was not yet deemed to be the fully final PJ but I liked the mix of black and grey on it. Definitely bolder looking than the V1 and I bet people will have strong reactions to it. Looks like that WO image has been scrubbed which I was waiting for.

Never been a fan of white racquets and promised myself I wouldn’t use one, but this might just be the one?? Don’t understand the obsession with these white racquets do people actually like them?
Yes. I think it looks clean. (I am also genuinely happy the BO is not blue like every other power frame). Maybe if we get enough signatures on a petition, they will make us a HyperG green...whiteout ;) .

Here we go!

What are those "unreleased 4.0" strings? Not crazy about V2 paintjob.
Its a new String coming in 2025 is all I know right now, new formula, new process. Is different the Confidential Blue 3.0 that was trending on here the last year or two. I know some others on the forum have hit with it. I was going to ask in the string thread soon for those who have played it to share their feeback. Hopefully will be trying it soon.

Yeah, CB-10JX is the variation of blue string they've narrowed focus to over the course of 2024. I've tested probably 10-12 variations since 2020. It's a separate project from some of the other stuff floating around like the pink Confidential S string.

They just had a boys 18 Level 1 tournament at one of my clubs. These are the blue chippers & D1 recruits. There were 2 Whiteout’s being represented along with the usual Areo’s, Blades, Radicals, VCORE’S & Ezone’s. The Whiteout in my opion is a more powerful & more forgiving Blade. It’s a much better racquet than the Blade for me.

WO is less maneuverable and less stable than Blade 98

That's what I love about racquets, everyone's experiences are so subjective and individual. Personally, I would have never said the WO was less maneuverable than a Blade. Every Blade I've ever tested, reviewed, etc has felt like I was dragging the head through contact due to the typically more HH balance and high SW. Probably also has to do with the fact than nearly every one I've used was grossly off spec while all of my Solinco's have been within 1g and 1mm to spec. I'd probably agree stability wise, but for me its close and I found the WO to come around quicker. That said, I have plenty of friends who rock the Blade at a high level and others who have moved from it to the WO.

Any info on v2 playability versus v1? Was considering getting a used v1 to try it out, but not sure if I should just wait a bit.. I'm assuming it's not just a PJ update?

Agree on racquets being subjective and personal. I have both Blade 98 v7 and WO 16x19. they are both listed at 11.4 oz and 4 points head light, with 1 gram difference in swing weight, the blade has a narrower beam and is more aerodynamic, probably why I can swing it faster. I find the Blade is superior on volleys and OHBH (especially slices), also has more control. The WO generates more spin and power (on groundies and serve), more depth with a substantially higher launch angle. Requires better technique to keep it in, so I actually think it is less forgiving. I like them both a lot. The WO is fun to play with, hits a heavy ball and I can flatten it out to make some big shots. Right now I use the Blade for doubles (nothing volleys like a blade) and the WO for singles. Looking forward to trying V2:cool:

Beckett, can you share any impressions on the v2 yet? (It’s understandable if you can’t.)
I can't get too specific but I think they've done a very good job addressing the wider criticism found in most reviews of the v1 16x19. I will post a full review in the first week of Jan. Luckily Solinco and I have a good relationship so I can post earlier than most. Also introduces the question of bias which I'll let the viewers decide on when the review comes out.

Thanks. I’m looking forward to the full review. The plain white pj never did anything for me, but the new Arctic camo looks sweet! (Would you look at that…a teaser video!)

Have you also tested the next blackout?

No I’ve been begging for a proto demo but haven’t had the chance. From my knowledge it’s still under development. Only WO will be released

I've had several prototype versions this year. The focus has narrowed to the version that was my favorite but it still has a bit of development. I'd be surprised if it was out before Q2 2025. I was also a fan of the potential PJ for it.

I saw a new whiteout paint on Instagram-
It was a camouflage whiteout. Does anyone know if that is just a special version of 1st generation or is that the new 2nd generation?

I’ve been super interested in the whiteout v1 18x20 as it’s been recommended to me multiple times here on the forums, I just haven’t gotten around to hitting it yet. I’m sure that curiosity/interest will carry over to the v2 as well.

As far as the pj goes I really like it! The gray accents are very reminiscent of snow camo and very appropriate for the name “whiteout” which is probably what they were going for since that’s what blizzards can tend to do. Simple and creative, +1 for their design team from me!

When Solinco does prototype strings they name it unreleased confidential x.x until they officially released. Confidential 1.0 is Hyper G. Confidential 2.0 is grey string we know as confidential (idk why they didn’t name it something else). Last year or two they have confidential 3.0 (light blue) in shape and round. Now they came out with confidential 4.0, which is also in light blue. They also have unreleased confidential pink, which plays like a Hyper G.

Pretty much this. Except Hyper G was also NGDY for years before it came out (Neon Green Donald Young). Sometimes they have just the Confidential designator and sometimes they get an extra designation if they're in the same family (LB-1A, LB-1B, etc)

Did they change the WO 18x20 too or just the 16x19?

Did they make it any more flexible/give it more pocketing?
That was my main complaint and why I switched off of it.
(Let me know if you can)

16x19 (290/305 and XTD) are the only ones updates to start. Not sure if hats happening with the 18x20 in the meantime. Directional control is quite good in the 16M and I feel like 18M isn’t as necessary anymore. Idk the RA yet but it’s certainly less harsh than the out going model.

I love the fact that Solinco gives players the option of an XTD version in a players frame. The WhiteOut V2 camo pj is awesome too !! The white and grey is sure to compliment whichever Solinco string (Tour bite, Hyper-G, Confidential or 10JX) you may choose! Did I mention the weighted butt cap inserts - I love those too! Keep up the good work Solinco!!

Hello all! So I'm very VERY late to the Whiteout party but I'm incredibly interested in the 305 18x20 version.

It's been recommended to me multiple times here on the forums and I'm finally getting around to doing a deep dive and researching the frame and it sounds simply amazing. The more I read and research the more I want to try it and it has quickly shot up to the top of my demo list.

I've read/skimmed through this thread to the best of my ability and to summarize the 18x20 it has...
  • a controlled and predictable response off the stringbed like that of a typical 18x20
  • the spin and launch angle of a tight 16x19
  • a power level that sits somewhere between a Blade 18x20 and a Pure Strike 18x20
  • a firm yet connected feel but plush with plenty of dwell time (foam filled frame or just the handle?)
  • stability seems to be perceived very differently based on the user?
  • maneuverability seems to be up in the air depending on who you ask as well but with the weighted trap doors that would remedy the issue?
My questions...
  • How is the feel on touch shots, angles, and volleys?
  • Is the beam tapered like a blade or is it more boxy?
  • It seems like in stock form it can be played up to a pretty high-level?
@dr. godmode I know you've long moved on from this but I just re-watched your review for it and you compared it to the 2018 VCORE 95 which is my favorite racket of all time. Do you think you could speak a little to the similarities you saw and felt between the two frames?

They both have a pretty consistent flex and above average stability in the upper hoop. Other than that they are pretty different. I think when I commented on similarities it was in reference to similarities in swing feel. I think the Whiteout is still one of the best 98's today. I revisited mine the other day to compare to a new stick from Heysil and wow, the WO is pretty unbelievably good. So stable in the upper hoop with a very connected feel.

I would agree that the 2018 VC95 had great consistent flex and it was so soft and plush it felt like I was hitting with a pillow and it swung super easily as well. Just makes me what to try the Whiteout even more now! Thanks for your response!

Will you be getting one?
Yeah, liked the v1 and mained it for awhile. Demoed the V2 from a local Solinco ambassador for 30 mins, and enjoyed it a lot. Excited to get longer sessions on it! And I like the paint as well, even though I was secretly hoping for a hyper g electric radioactive green edition.
