Solinco Whiteout V2 (2025) discussion

First impressions, the Whiteout v2 is a very solid frame but not a blade......but that's not a bad thing!

It feels like the weight distribution is at 2 and 10 when I swung the Whiteout v2. I have played about 2 hours with the v2. My current stick is the blade v9 16x19. It has been my main stick after moving away from my Aero 98s.

The whiteout v2 groundies are solid at impact and have a muted feel. From the first groundstroke I was really shocked at how much spin I got on the ball and how high the launch angle was. You get a lot of action on the ball which opens angles on the court and gives you confidence to swing out. Slice is very crisp and has lots of action. In comparison to the blade v9 you get more plow and lower launch angle. I would say the blade wins in the power department but the spin is not as prevalent. Serves also were not as powerful as the blade but the spin and kick serves really shine with the whiteout v2. The up and down action on the kick serve was better with the whiteout v2.

I hit with the V2 in stock with a swing weight of 324 and then added lead tape to 3 and 9 to get a new SW of 332. I had to add lead tape to bring the spin and launch angle down. I was also looking to get some more plow through at contact. With the blade you get a much lower ball that shoots through the court, and I wanted to get a launch angle to mimic this. I like hitting with the blade but at times would like a little more spin and that is where the V2 helps. Overall I think if you are looking for more margin and spin the whiteout v2 is the way to go. If you are a flat and aggressive player then the blade is the way to go.

My next setup change maybe to add a leather grip and see how that affects the plow through. I am happy to have this frame in my bag and will be working with string setups. I currently use Hyper g 17 but I will be using the 10JX as my next setup to see how the frame plays. I really like my blade v9 and how aggressive I can be. I also love the power I can generate with the blade, but coming from an aero 98 is where the v2 reminds me of the spin I could generate as well.

I just received my Solinco Whiteout V2 demo. The first thing I do when receiving demos is measure the swing weight. It measured 313, 15 points under TW average:(

For the one I received it was: 293 on a Briffidi and 298 on a RDC. (Unstrung)

Do you calibrate your Briffidi every time you use it? Reason why I ask is because I experienced inconsistent readings unless I calibrated on the day I used it. Also for awhile, when I calibrated, I was unable to get the readings to match the figures on my calibration rod. I could get close but never matched spot on and this led to inaccurate readings as well. When I pulled out my briffidi to use last week, I found that Brian had updated the app and simplified the calibration process. This time I was able to get the readings to exactly match the figures on my calibration rod. I was told that my White Out v2 would be 292 SW unstrung. When I measured it on my Briffidi, it came out at 292.24.

Same experience here. Now I have to calibrate Briffidi everytime before I use it. otherwise, it's not accurate. I'm not sure why, I didn't move the device or anything at all. Kinda a bummer but the new calibration process did make it easier.

The gentleman I purchased the W2 from measured it on the Briffidi and he did calibrate it prior to measuring as that was what I requested. The RDC I had access to is incredibly old so who knows how accurate it is. I feel like I trust our current phones gyroscope more than a 20 year old machine that's never been calibrated.

I remember asking a few years ago, and Brian said if you were simply matching to an existing frame, there was no need to calibrate. Just measure the existing frame, then match the new one to that.

I calibrated my machine once, and haven’t done it since. I don’t care if it reads 226 or 542, so long as it reads those numbers consistently, and I can match any new frames to old frames.

Except the same frame that measured 330 on one day will measure 325 or 335 on different days. If it always came out at the same number, that would be fine because your reference SW for that one frame would always be the same. But that’s not what was happening. The same frame that measured 292 unstrung 12 months ago would measure at 299 months later. And on occasion would measure completely out of whack where I would need to reboot the app then the measurement would be back more in line with the previous measurements.

I was getting ready to toss my briffidi in the trash and just spend the money on a Wilson or Head 3 in 1 machine. Just glad this time when i opened the app, i was finally able to get the briffidi to match the specs on my calibration rod and I knew it was accurate because I have a frame with a known SW spec measured on another machine and it matched this time on the briffidi.

If the briffidi measurement changes on different days and recalibrating doesn’t fix it, then the device is useless.

Again, if you’re trying to get to a certain spec, yes, that would be irritating. But, if I have frame A in hand, and I want to match frames B & C to A, what it reads is irrelevant. It just matters that, if I put A on and it says 422, then B says 405, and I add lead to get B to 422, I need A to still read 422 if I put it on the machine again (NOTE: this is all happening within 5-10 minutes).

If I put A on, and if gives me a number, and I remove it, then immediately remount it and it says a completely different number, then yes, it’s useless. But mine has always been consistent within a measurement “session”.

Yeah, agree that the White Out v2 is very solid and not a Blade. You mention adding lead tape at 3 and 9. Did you try moving the lead to 12 to bring the launch angle down and increase the plow? I believe that lead at 12 is more effective for this than lead at 3 and 9. I added lead between 2-3 and 9-10 on my Blade v8 16x19 to increase the launch angle.

@mad dog1 Right now I am keeping the lead tape at 3 and 9. I restrung with Solinco Hyper G17 @47 pds to see how the tension affects the launch angle. I feel like I can get some good depth and spin right now. I was going to restring with 10JX but wanted to see how the tension change feels with Hyper G before changing strings altogether.

I may try a different lead tape setup but so far this has been feeling pretty good to me. With adding lead tape it can be a hit or miss, but so far I have liked the depth and spin on the ball. Spin is the highlight on the V2 for sure. the V2 has good control, but not as much power as the blade v9.

Perhaps the blade v9 has more power than the blade v8? i only tried a demo of the blade v9 that one of my students had when it came out. no idea what the specs were or what strings were in the demo but i liked it. haven't had both set up to the same specs and strung with the same strings to do a direct side by side comparison. have you been able to compare the v8 and the v9 side by side before?

Modded to the same strung SW and same string set ups, the feedback i received from maxtennis (5.0C) and lidoazndiabloboi (used to play 4.5) was that the power and spin levels they were seeing from the WOv2 was pretty similar/not appreciably different from the Blade v8 16x19. it was easy for me to see that the launch angles were different, but they didn't need to make any adjustments to their timing. the launch angle i get from my modded PD VS is pretty similar to the WOv2, but they felt more pressure. the launch angle from my modded PA VS is lower than the PD VS which makes sense since the PD VS pattern is 16x19 while the PA VS pattern is 16x20. it's more like the launch angle of the blade v8, but again they felt more pressure.

Outside of the holiday deals, I've never really seen them discount things too often compared to the other brands when they need to address left over inventory. I was expecting a clearance sale with V2 coming out but with how their string model works this makes sense for them, so its almost like WhiteOut vs WhiteOut Soft lol I also dont think they made humongous amounts to begin with (which is also why I think they were getting tight specs compared to everyone else). I got 4 BO XTDs I purchased on 3 separate occasions that were all virtually the same.
Buying direct from them or from retailers? Direct from Solinco and they actually keep track of the spec of the racket they're sending you in my experience so the next one they send is pretty close to the same.

I did use the V8 16x19 and to me it was lower powered in comparison to the V9. Just my opinion but I felt I get more plow through with the V9. I haven't used the v8 in a while, but that is what I remember.

The first two were purchased direct a little before the official release, and 2 more from TW in separate occasions.

i dont like that the solinco logo in the top of the hoop is upside down, when the (presumably) the butt cap logo is right side up
the Solinco script on the inside of the top of the hoop is right side up when the butt cap logo is right side up on mine.

Hey Everyone,

I got a quick question that I'm sure you guys can help me figure out quickly. I am in the market to grab another V2. (Eating my previous words a little bit. I've forced myself to try some new setups and I am really enjoying the racket right now.) I was wondering if y'all could help me figure out what I need to get to get these rackets to match or If I should try to just try to find one that is lighter than Racket Number 1.

Racket Number 1: 305 Grams, 32.0 Balance and 298 Swingweight (I currently put 1 gram at 12 to bump it up to 301 Swingweight)
Racket Number 2: 308 Grams, 32.0 Balance and 299 Swingweight (This is the racket the gentleman has available for me to grab. My dilemma is that I currently love how my current setup is so I would like to get it as close to #1 as possible however, this will be a little difficult as #2 is a touch heavier.) While I know that the difference is very minimal and if you just gave them both to me I probably wouldn't be able to tell, it would make me mentally feel better if they were the same.

Let me know what y'all think.

Man...those are almost identical! Maybe play a few sessions with only #2 and if you end up being able to get over the 3 gram mental hurdle build the first one to be like the second one?

the WOv2 absolutely has a break in period. i've found some racquets need a session or two to settle in and open up while others don't. i've learned to always play with a racquet for 3-4 sessions before forming any strong opinions.

since the SW and balance are virtually identical, i seriously doubt you're going to be able to feel a 3g difference in static weight.

Thats good to know hearing that feedback. Another member had let me know that as well that the V2 had a break in period.

I also think you're right as well where I wont be able to tell. Like I said, more mental than anything else for me.

loving this demo….how is this sizing up vs a v8 blade? should be expecting similar characteristics? same power same control? what is the consensus?

any chance someone can share the spacing of the "middle 8 mains" of the whiteout v2...a-la?

What are the thoughts from longtime whiteout v1 16x19 users trying out v2? I find the v2 added stability, comfort and pop amazing. But I find loss of spin troubling. Anybody else experiencing this? Most noticeable for me on serve and quite possibly a deal breaker.

Others have opinions here?

Not a longtime v1 user but have a v1 and the v2. agree on stability, comfort, and pop. More depth and power. Not sure if I personally feel a loss in spin very much. I'd say that part of the power and depth mixed with a a little higher launch angle may require some string tension tweaking or a different string altogether to get the right spin especially with the completely different muted feel.

No loss of spin at all. I found the V2 to have no trouble adding shape and spin.

When it shipped I had my v2 strung up with Hyper G and there was almost too much spin (at expense of heft). When that was out, I strung my v2 up with my same setup as my Whiteout v1 (Grapplesnake M8 49/47). I've really been loving this setup on my v1. Loss of spin was surprising. Not just way below Hyper G (to be expected), but also way below my v1. It was totally manageable on groundies, but my serve placement - which is unreal with my v1 - really suffered the most. May just end up playing with my v1s rather than go on another string odyssey. Its such a rabbit hole.

Saw this on the stringer at the Brain Dead shop in L.A. last week. I'm loving the out of the box cosmetic and its a neat collab, especially with the Mach-10/HGR hybrid set they made too (posted in Mach-10 Playtest). Hopefully it is coming soon to retail.

Looks like the owner has been playing with a WOv1 version of this since September! (See insta below, video with Roman Prokes in the collection)

Damn! Im sure it will be so limited a release that most of us muggles with never get to own one.

Im still waiting for the Supreme Yonex 100 which I will never be able to get anyway....
