Some awe inspiring Fed records all in one picture

Lets keep this clean , but here are some Federer records I think will stand the test of time even If Novak or Rafa surpass his tally of 20 majors.
1. From 2004 Wimbledon to the 2010 Australian open, Federer reached the semi finals in 23 consecutive majors, winning 14 majors in that period and also going on a streak of 10 straight Grand slam finals and then another 8 grand slam finals respectively. With only Nadal stopping him at the French Open, Federer ( in hindsight ) was 2 match wins away from achieving the double calendar year grand slam and winning 10 Majors in a row! A record that could have undoubtably made him the GOAT player irrespective of numbers. Fed is the only player to have reached all 4 majors in a year, 3 x in his career. In comparison, Novak has only ever reached all 4 major finals in one year once ( 2015), Nadal has never reached all 4 major finals in 1 year

2.Wimbledon,US Open 5peat
Winning 5 straight Wimbledons and 5 straight US Opens is my favourite Fed stat and I rank it up there with Nadals dominance at RG but split between 2 surfaces. The modern 5peat would be like asking Djokovic to win 5 straight Australian titles followed by 5 straight Wimbledons.
It’s an absolutely ridiculous achievement and at least showcases freakish consistency. Even scarier is that Fed could have made it 6 in a row for each championship if not for losing to Nadal and Del Potro

3. 7 straight Wimbledon finals.
Even Nadal at the FO has never got close to this record. The maximum he has is 5 straight FO finals and Djokovics maximum is 4 straight US Open finals..The only male player I know of who beats Feds record here is Lendl with 8 straight US Open finals, but Lendl won 3/8 titles whereas Roger won 6/7

4. 3 years winning 3 majors per year. 2004,2006,2007. 2009 for me was the year that got away as he could definitely have got a 4th year with 3 titles per year. If Novak wins this years Wimbledon, Novak equals this record of 3 grand slams per year for 3 years

When measuring legendary athletic feats across all sports , many of Fed's records are precisely the sort of records the experts note. Even Nadal said as much. ("just look at those numbers. Nobody will ever repeat that") Federer also holds the second most Guiness World Records (performance-related).

Most consecutive weeks at number one and no retirements are huge in my opinion.

doesn't it just bother you that the Wimbledon and US Open 5-in-a-row streaks don't line up to form a rectangle?

He beat the like of Philippoussis, Baghdatis, and González in slam finals, before Djokovic was in his first final.

Peak Murray could have done the same during those years.
Look at the consistency, Novak comes no where close. Novak was also active in those years of Feds dominance and was often dispatched before he ever got a chance to meet Federer

How can he be a goat when you can put most of his records into just 1 picture? :)

Right now, 40-15 is the one stat Fed is most remembered for. It still haunts him and his followers. Only a Wimbledon victory over Djoker can even begin to atone for that.

I like your profile pic. Where did you find it?

Screen capture of some YouTube clip. Either the Rafa SF or the Berretini QF.

Competition. End of Srichaphan era ushered in the end of the Fairy tale (which most Fedfans are still living in)
Credit to Fed for vulturing those 3 slams in 09-10 though. Literally the 3 slams Rafa whooped him at in the previous editions , but then was injured so couldn’t defend each title

I mean, who else was there to stop him? Murray was still a boy and Del Potro had just gotten through puberty. When he did, he whooped Fed.

You can see a picture from the past or watch this video of the future holder of most records - only one is appropriate for today.

His domination was insane. Those points are among main reasons he earned his GOAThood, along with his GS count and no1 record. And yeah, he was capable and so close to make his domination absolute, almost perfect. With time, I learned to respect his greatness, especially within last few years.

A lot of green from 2004-2007, then very little green.

What happened?

Players who grew up with poly matured and got good replacing the guys who grew up with gut and had to change their games on the fly while on tour and were unable to adjust. Federer was the best of the weak era of players who grew up with gut and adjusted to poly (or a hybrid), but fell behind two younger rivals who grew up with poly.

Federer no longer has any significant exclusive record outside of most Wimbledon titles. Slams and weeks are number 1 are gone.
Random statistics aren’t records. This is desperation to remain relevant

Aren't consecutive slam finals/semifinals/quarterfinals/weeks-at-#1 also recognized as feats?
Weeks number yes , and 237 consecutive weeks as number one is really impressive feat atleast for me.
Going to final I can agree but QF and semi these are just stats

If he can't show up its not Federers fault. He too won 2 US Opens when no ATG was there...

Your “credit” comes in the form of a backhanded compliment so perhaps you’d be better off being more honest and leaving that word off.
