Hi all! I use the red silver Fischer Pro no.1 330 gram. These have been discontinued and i ant get hold of them anywhere.

I have however been ofered the Red silver \Fischer pro no.1 which is 285 grams. Has anyone had any experience with the 285 version?

Is it still stiff like the 330?

thanks

I have the 285 (I'm a gril) and love it, but have not played with the 330, so I can't compare. I would risk a statement that the feel must vary a lot, though, if only for the weight.

Hi there...I think 330 grams is a little less than 12ozs and if this is the strung spec you are looking for, these were the ones distributed in the US, and there are tons of them floating around for sale...you should have no trouble at all scoring some of these. I would avoid the 285gram one as 45 grams difference is huge.

Thanks you are probably right. I put a wanted notice up in the Buy/ Sell ?trade section but have only been offered the red black pro no.1 so far.

I will keep hunting.

Any further info on the 285 is welcome though

the red/black one is likely the exact same frame as the red/silver one..i just think it is the newest cosmetics

ooops, sorry, somehow (??) I missed the silver part. Mine is black and I don't know anything about the silver/black differences

i really dont think the red/silver ones had sic ceramics in them in spite of what the graphics may say..i think even the newest red/black cosmetics mentioned sic ceramics. if the rec tension is either 50-60 or 50-70 i would say they have no <or almost no> ceramics in the layup. the true ceramics ones were the precursor to the Pro1, the VTPro98 and the earliest Pro1's and you can tell because the recommended stringing range was quite narrow..somethng like 54-56..and Fischer was right..string outside of that narrow range and the racquet just didnt perform very well

The string range states 54 +- 4 that seems fairly narrow. i have hit with the newer pro.1 and it really is not the same stick.

gonna try get hold of a vt pro 98 but i expect they are like gold dust too.

typical. i spend 4 months demoing rackets and the only one i really like is discontinued grrrr

The Red/Silver 330g Pro#1 did have ceramics in the layup. It was a 330g VT98 Pro with different cosmetics. When the red/silver Pro#1 was replaced by the black/red/white Pro#1 (distributed by Gamma) it no longer had ceramics but did have fiberglass and Ti. The USA got 320g versions almost exclusively. It did not play/feel anything like the 330g red/silver or VT98 Pro.
The current Pro#1 has glass but no ceramics and is lighter than and does not play/feel like the red/silver or the VT98 Pro.

How do you like the frame so far onkystomper?

Hope you get a few more of those. You might try the big auction site. I saw a couple ads 2 weeks or so ago. They might have been relisted.

Good luck!

so there you have your answer...look for red/slver cosmetic pro 1's with the tension range of 54 +- 4. or ANY Pro1's with that tension range if you dont care if the cosmetics match. i agree yours would have ceramics in them and have a diff feel then the later ones or even the red/silver ones with tension range of 50-60, but i think they have less ceramics in them than the vtPro98. and yes, the vtPro98's are much harder to find...i used that frame for about 4 years, and think i've hit with all the versions of the Pro1 since save for the last red/back one. my feeling is that they gradually removed ceramics from the layup of this frame, and that it became softer flexing with each iteration of the frame, with the VTPro98 havng the most, and also being the best frame of the lot.

Agreed: VT98 Pro 330g is the best Fischer in last 10-12 years: a great mix of power and control and is good at everything......but the feel is sublime. Best feel of ANY stick in recent history. The red/silver 330g Pro #1 is a clone.

Thanks guys/ gals you have all been really helpful.

Freckles i am loving the racket thanks. I will keep checking that site you mention with my fingers crossed.

Nobadmojo. What you say is logical about there being less and less ceramics as the iterations went on. The fact the tension range expands to coincide with this backs up your theory.

007 Thanks for the input seems like you have the same mindset as me when it comes to these sticks.
