Some slo-mo hitting footage

Since I think that I've spammed up this forum enough with serving videos, I decided to take out the camera during my warm up session yesterday. By mistake, unfortunately, I had left the camera on high speed mode which made the video be taken at 210fps instead of 30. So there's no audio and instead it's just music, but I figured that I might as well post it here just for fun. Sorry for the choppiness; I just edited out all bits of non-hitting (walking, recovering after a dead rally, feeding, etc.). My hitting partner is unfortunately not that good, but I just wanted to get outside and hit so it doesn't matter. It's split into two videos with HD available (the second isn't finished processing at the time of this writing). I'm not actively looking for tips or criticisms (because if I were, I wouldn't have posted a video during warm-up), but comment away if you feel like it :)

What kind of camera you using?

Clearly an HD camera... -_-

Getting the spam out of the way now.

The shots look good. Looks like you got a Western grip, your shots have a lot of topspin and they have good clearance over the net. :) Very nice.

Tips: A little more on the footwork is all that I think you need right now. Otherwise, very nicely done. :)

Thanks Captain Obvious. I was looking for a specific model camera. Casio FH20?

Nope, SW grip. I used to have a western grip though, but I found it impossible to use on lower shots. I switched the summer before I started college. And it's interesting you say something about the net clearance because whenever I hit a shot, especially on my FH which has a lot more topspin, I never ever think that the ball is going high over the net. That said, most of my shots land within about 3 feet of the baseline, so perhaps that's why. Who knows? :D

Oh, and about the footwork: yesterday was an extremely lazy day for me. I'd played a best of 3 in 93 deg heat w/ 101deg court temps on Tuesday, so I was beat to hell already. I promise I'll make another video with actual point play because as I've been told, next to my serve, my footwork is my best skill which isn't all that strange since I come from a boxing background where if you have sluggish footwork, you're gonna lose more than just the bout :)

DAMN IT! I knew those *****s would censor my video. I don't know how they caught the second one and not the first one. Maybe because it's got a mainstream artist in it, or maybe one of you guys reported me lol :|

Why did they censor it?
Some songs are copyrighted and they're anal about it. That's why I put the "music credits" in the video descriptions to hopefully avoid that. There was some damn good music in that second video. I know I wouldn't want to watch 7 minutes of silence :(

Your first forehand was a reverse forehand? o_O

Others are good.

Your backhand is great too, but could use a little more low to high-ness for a little more consistency although it looks fine as it is. I would recommend hitting the backhand as you did at 1:21 in the video.

You also get frustrated easily because of a bad shot. Don't let that get in your way.

Hah yeah, I rarely hit the RFH since it's not as penetrating. And I do normally have more of a high finish on my BH since I normally put more topspin on it, but since my hitting partner's balls come in from 95 feet above the net, or 9.5" above the ground, I flatten it out a lot. In the slo-mo vids, I think two or so are just complete slaps on the ball :D

Oh, and don't worry about me and my frustation: whenever I'm playing an actual match, I don't say a word nor show any actual frustration. I let all of it out when I'm practicing so that there's none left to use when it counts

Another video, no slow motion. Another warmup this time, same partner, feet not as lazy

Hey, pv ... well, you already know that I'm impressed with your strokes (... serve included) ... so, I wasn't disappointed with the footage ... nice groundies and good technique ... does look a little like you're using the western ... maybe it's just the double bend FH that's throwing me off ... so, tell me ... I hope you're playing some tournaments this summer ... btw ... that was a nice lob to your BH side ... those damn approaches gotta be good, no ...

Haha thanks Davis. And I promise that it's not a western grip FH since I used to play with a full western exclusively all throughout high school and I implemented the double bend FH the summer after my first year of college. And nope, no time to play tournaments since I'm stuck up here at school doing research.

I have to admit, the lob really was quite excellent although it pissed me off because he hit the net so perfectly on his first shot that the damn ball died as soon as it hit the ground so I had no decent approach shot cause I was being lazier than a turtle and he just popped up this tasty lob after I scrambled 6" away from the net

Hey, pv ... yeah, I could hear you swearing as you looked back at the lob ... *smile* ... good hitting, my friend ... and ... don't work so hard!
