Something better than Tourna Grip?

I use Volkl V-Dry and find it to offer what tourna does but in a much more premium package and maybe 5x the durability. Easier to install.

Does anyone else swear by this stuff? I would love to know what your favorite dry grip is if you use them regularly. Tell me a bit about your climate too, since that's relevant. Tell me about your second and third favorites to give some context please.

I did a video on my thoughts regarding the v-dry grip and I might do more.

Agree on the V-Dry. Best dry over grip I've tried. Although the orange color tends to bleed and gets all over my hands and clothes.

It's really that messy? I have green but yet to try it. Sticking with white and black. Have used black for years and trying white first time just now.

Longtime Tourna Grip user here. I tried Volkl V-Dry for a bit, and while it was nice, I went back to Tourna Grip. They feel different, and I think I just prefer Tourna's texture more. Other good ones I've tried are Dunlop U-Sweat and MSV Prespi Absorb, which both feel quite similar to Volkl V-Dry. Another contender is Solinco Heaven, which has a dotted texture.

Interesting. My results with some of these were terrible. Solinco heaven was ok. Usweat was very delicate for me. Never tried this MSV one.

I use Wilson pro perforated overgrips over a Wilson leather grip. Tourna doesn't work for me, it consistently becomes a shredded mess and the rosin bag makes it even worse. Ordered a bunch of V-Dry so I'll try that next. My problem is I'm in 90 degree, humid weather, I drink 40 oz water while I play, I sweat through my overgrip into my leather grip and the racquet gains 4g of water weight over the course of a set, and it becomes too slippery to hold on to. When I set them out to dry in a cool room, the overgrip dries out nicely but the leather stays wet a long, long time. I have to unwrap the overgrip and set the leather out overnight to get it dry. I had the same problem with synthetic grips, even more so since they all have cotton padding which acts like a sponge. I thought leather would solve this problem but no luck. Am I crazy or should I start blow-drying my grips every night?

Dang, I wonder if this grip I swear by "vt advantec" would help out. They apply with no adhesive and I think are more hydrophobic than average leather. Certainly no cotton. My climate is a bit hotter but a bit less humid sounding. Please let me know how the vdry plays for you! That sounds like such a hassle. Towels are nice to keep around but I know they only help for about 3 minutes before you need it again. But it's still nice to have. I also wear wristbands. Sometimes I squeeze my handles with a towel once or twice during a hitting session on the sweatier days.

Never tried the pro perforated grips. I feel like the perforation would allow the sweat to get into the leather more? But also let it breathe more...not sure how that all evens out but maybe you know better from personal experience.

v-dry was always my favorite by far and I've tried most of them.

Tried yellow V-Dry and liked it more than Wilson pro perforated. The V-Dry gains 3g of water weight while I play and dries out nicely in a few hours afterwards. Leather grip underneath is staying dry now. Maybe the Wilson perforations are counterproductive in that my sweat bleeds into the grip more easily. V-Dry was a very good recommendation and lasts me about 4-5 sets b4 I change. When is summer over anyway? This Florida humidity is killing me.

our summer is 80% humid / 30c at evening, and i swear by the V-dry. maybe 4 hrs tops per change.
didn't find anything better so i stuck with it for a few yrs now. i guess Tourna will hold 1/4 of the time, although the texture feels better.

I do kinda like the fresh texture of tourna better but it goes so quickly. Can't do it.

I use V-Dry. It's not quite as grippy as Tourna, but it lasts way way way longer. Tourna only lasts me a set.

My wife's hands sweat more than mine. She prefers Head Super Comp over Wilson Pro, which I prefer. We haven't tried anything else yet.

I use the classic Wilson Pro overgrip. I tried Tournagrip but it shredded on me. I live in Fort Wayne. Before Wilson, I used the Head SuperComp which was comfortable, but the Wilson is much better.

Based on my research, I think it literally is Tourna Grip. Tourna makes it, and Head rebrands it and sells it.
Yep. A few brands do this. It's tourna, rebranded. You can tell by the way it is the best grip ever until 5 minutes passes and then it's a whole new world and you have to regrip.

I'd agree about the wilson but have you tried v-dry? It's a big step up if humidity and sweat are issues for you. In colder less wet weather, wilson pro might be better but it really depends on how you sweat.

V-Dry is the best followed by Wilson Pro perforated. Did not like the Dunlop U-Sweat, it feels very "paper-like", similar to Tourna and does not last. Yellow V-Dry is the way to go in the Florida humidity and I'm done with all the rest. Here's my only problem, I now have a red Head PMP with neon green Hyper-G strings and a yellow V-Dry overgrip. So much for blending in...

I use V-Dry but only because it comes in a 30 pack. If Yonex dry grap came in a 30 I’d be using that no question. Dry grap is the best.

I've been curious about Yonex Dry Grap. How does it feel, and how does it perform? Tourna Grip is my main grip, but I've also used Wilson Pro, Yonex Super Grap, Volkl V-Dry, Dunlop U-Sweat, Gamma Pro Wrap, and Solinco Heaven (for reference).

Dry Grap is kinda like super grap/Wilson pro and Volkl vdry had a baby. It’s dry but has a little bit of tack to it. Also pretty durable as well.

I agree with a lot of you, i grew up with tourna grips, used to be my favorite until i tried the volkl v dry grip. Really similar to tourna but lasts way longer, i also agree that that tourna texture feels better that the v dry grip, but tourna grip does not last enough.

I'm curious, has anyone found there to be differences between the different colors of V-Dry? I'm on my last few pieces of Tourna Grip, and am interested in giving V-Dry another go.

Yes there are differences mainly with the black color. All the other colors feel similar to each other, kinda velvety suede like. The black doesn’t feel like that. I prefer the black.

Been testing this more and even more so now I feel the black is just better, and this might be the only grip I say this about.

The problem I have with the black is that it’s hard to tell when it’s dirty, so sometimes I leave it on too long.

How does it compare to Wilson Comfort Pro? Once the tack wears off I love that grip.

My go to OG is the Volkl overgrips as well, best I've found so far. They are a slightly thicker and tackier than the tourna ones and as the OP said they last much much longer.
In between both of them is the Yonex supergrap which is still tackier than tourna but is thin too.

I think of supergrap as a rival to Wilson Pro, not so much tourna. You didn't mean dry grap, did you?

Hmm, it has a sturdiness to it. The white has this papery texture somewhat and that's tricky to describe in better detail. Comparing black to that...to say "less papery" isn't helpful but it feels more like a grip should. Somewhere between a tracky rubber feeling and a nice leather feeling. The grip really activates upon a little sweat but I actually end up using these in the winter times as well. Supergrap used to be my winter grip but maybe I'm all Vdry now somehow. I feel like it works quite well in all conditions and maybe this is true, at least for me. The white V-Dry maybe feels a little more like Tourna in it's texture where as the black is a bit more it's own thing.

Hope that is helpful somewhat. It's solid but still soft enough, it's dry but not paper-dry feeling. It has tack but I wouldn't call it "tacky" but tacky grips seem to start slipping once things get sweaty enough where as this retains amazing grip even then or especially then.

Guess you will have to see, I can't really say much more that feels helpful. I did just do another video on it on my youtube channel that will post tomorrow early morning on black vs white V-Dry

Anything is better than Tournagrip lol. I've been using the white Gamma ones and they're cheap and way better and more durable than tourna. They also don't get destroyed and stick all over the handle. Yonex Super Grap/Wilsons are also fine. I find that white overgrips usually better than black overgrips.

The only Tourna grip I like is the super tacky one when I'm playing in 50 degree weather. Otherwise, my hands dont sweat enough to use the original - only if Im playing for 2hrs in 90 degree heat.

Völkl V-Dry green or white is my go to in the summer months. Also really like the Yonex Dry Grap (green version) - feels like non-slip velour.

For something in between the dry and super tacky, Ive had great results with Yonex Grap, Technifibre Pro, Gamma Supreme and Solinco Wonder Grip (white preferred).

Thanks for the info. Just ordered a 3-pack of the black V-Dry to try. The one I tried around 2 years ago was the green one, so maybe it didn't represent the best it had to offer.

Excited to see what you think! I never tried green but I bet it's paper like kinda like white.

It did feel kinda papery, almost like the surface was treated with some kind of powder.

Out of curiosity, have you tried any of the other Volkl overgrips? I loved that the V-Dry is tapered on both ends, so I'm assuming that they extend that to all their overgrip offerings. I generally use a conventional tacky grip for cold weather, so I'm interested in knowing more about Super Grip II and V-Tac.

Never used V-Dry. It would take a LOT for me to not use Tourna. It's the only grip I've used basically for 30 years. I sweat a lot; my hands sweat, so it's been essential. Nothing else has ever worked unless it's cold and sweating isn't an issue (but even them my hands can get clammy). Yes, durability isn't great, but I've made peace with that. The lack of adhesive or tapered ends has never been an issue. Maybe I'll order a few V-Dry grips as apart of a bigger order just to see.

Have you tried Luxilon Elite dry? I also like Head Pro (which seems to be Tournagrip) but the Luxilon I find even more dry / less tacky. I love the feel but they can be hard to get hold of
