A lot of us here and elsewhere like to predict what's going to happen in the future, be in politics or technology or sports or others area of life. We all like to say things like "three years from now, this or that is gonna happen" and similar such prognostications.
So I thought it would be interesting if we shared some of our past predictions that were right and wrong. The key 'rule' here is that for every accurate prediction you claim credit for, you have to reveal a bad one, so this doesn't turn into a self-congratulatory patting on the back of how smart we are.
I will go first:
SMART ONE:
Very soon after election day in 2000, when it became apparent the Florida situation was a mess and people were wondering how it would be resolved and who would eventually be our president, I was said "I'm not even following the details here, but I'm sure this matter will ultimately be resolved by the Supreme Court, and since there's a conservative majority, they will resolve it 5-4 in favor of Bush".
DUMB ONE:
Two or so years ago, I thought Barack Obama had ZERO chance of winning the Democratic nomination, let alone the presidency. I was like "A black kid who's a first term senator and has a terrorist-sounding name? What planet are you guys living on?! He's going nowhere!"
Anyone else?
