are you talking about that movie with van damme? oh, it has been one of his worst films from my point of view (a complete waste of time), would be better if he didn't deny the offer to play johnny cage in mortal kombat back then (if i'm not mistaken about that fact)
That movie was absolutely epic for kids. Years later I watched it as an adult and I understood the movie is not that good from an objective point of view. But, maybe because of my nostalgia, I still liked the movie. Of course, it is not one of my favorites movies ever or something like that, but I still can't dislike it it mainly because of the nostalgia.

Well this thread went to hell. Anyways the Delpo flat forehand is definitely an ATG level weapon. His BH technique and subsequent wrist injuries really robbed us of a true 5-way rivalry in the 2010-12 period
It was a shame that he got injured so early in 2010, when he had so much momentum on his side.

I remember Seth spamming the life out of me. After the first match, you just catch on and then you beat him. But I can remember his spam. Ryu and Ken were my characters. Haven't played a street fighter game in a while. Raul Julia was great in the movie. Ryu and Ken playing comedy jobbers sucked. Blanka's storyline might have appealed to my compassionate side. It was 1994 after all. :p CHARLIE.

JMDP ftw.
Charlie and Blanka were never meant to be the same characters the way they did in the live action movie. Charlie was killed by M.Bison legitimately in the canon during Street Fighter alpha, which takes place before SF2.

I couldn't do much with Zangief or T Hawk. They were too big and slow although they had some killer moves, especially Zangief.
I used to stiffen my opponents with Zangief. His merry-go-round like move was the killer ones. The key with giant warriors was always about never to stop until your opponent is finished. Just keep on pounding and pounding as soon as they get up...

Zangief would stiffen everybody up if he got loose on you. He was probbaly my least favorite character to play because if he could get close enough to you, it was over. I used to love that merry go round move but it was hard as hell to execute.

The merry go round move is actually a rotating clothesline. Also there was a cheat to beat Zangief, basically jump vertically continuously and as he approaches kick him in the head while you jump. Don't jump towards him, unless you see and opening, just jump straight up and time it so you are in the air as he approaches and kick him in the face. Easy way to beat him without losing any energy.

Yes. I play the SNK games, in particular King of Fighters. Kyo, Iori, Rugal and co. And Tekken is a great game also.
Hahah I see, nice!
I mainly play KOF then Street Fighter. I only play Tekken when my friend asks me to play with him. Which country do you stay in? I feel that outside of Asia, KOF is not very popular. Mostly everyone in the US only play the fighting games released by Capcom.

I am in Ukraine now, but I had exposure to KOF back when living in California. KOF is very good. Did you play the cross over, Capcom V SNK or Capcom V SNK 2, with Evil Iori, God Rugal, Angel Ken, Evil Ryu and Shin Akuma? That is my all time fav cross over. I have spent time in Tokyo, in Shinjuku playing in competitions many times though.

Yeah, it was one of the best cross over fighting games I have played. I only played Capcom V SNK 2 though.

Yea i figured him out pretty well. Just jump around the screen and as he approaches with his moves, kick him in the head and then give him a good combo. Rise and repeat. Lol

It's even more incredible (and frustrating) for me to see Roger putting 8/10 balls to delpo FH, no matter how many times he plays that guy....

And about that FH, I seriously believe there'd be big5 if Delpotro wasn't affected by countless injuries
I feel like Rog never thinks Delpo can keep hitting those huge FHs, even though he shows time and again he can do it year after year. He should have accepted it long ago that he owns the 105 mph fh and not trifle with it.

The Millionaire Fight 2001. Loved God Rugal and Shin Gouki in that. I also generally liked the world that was created for King of Fighters, with the Sun and Moon being Kyo and Iori. Evil Iori was nuts though. To me, this is the best cross over ever made in gaming history.

God Rugal and Shin Akuma were both very OP. Very frustrating to fight against them. Evil Iori like what you said, was a crazy mofo. He moves very fast, quite hard to control.

Crazy level of power. God Rugal's heart punch penetrates straight through Akuma's chest and he absorbs the dark hado which allows him to pull of Akuma's move set making him even more deadlier.

I always love watching TAS. They never fail to surprise me with the ridiculous moves and combos :)

The first time I saw elements of cross overs was when Capcom started to make games using X-Men. Do you remember the game, X-Men Children of the Atom? In that game, Akuma, otherwise known as Gouki is a special playable character. They don't mention him by name, but he is in there, fighting Cyclops, Wolverine and the others. That then opened the gates to the universes merging everywhere.

Firstly, if you are going to talk about the Street Fighter Movie, then look to the better version that came out around the same time as the one you talk about. The anime version is vastly superior in almost every aspect, from the fights to the story telling. Here is a sample from that movie. Every street fighter fan in my mind should watch this movie at least once.

Now in regards to actual live action movie itself, it has it's own story. Back in 1985 Rocky IV had come out and Rocky faced the almost invincible out of this world being Ivan Drago. A couple of the guys in Hollywood was amazed by what Rocky was overcoming that they didn't think there is anyone left on planet Earth for him to fight. So they started a concept that Rocky Balboa should face a space alien who likes to fight. This basically lead to the creation of the Predator, the icon hunting alien who was hunting Arnie and his team, and for those in the know, Carl Weathers who was hired to play Dillon in Predator was influenced because he was in Rocky IV and died to Drago...Well, who did they pick to play the part of the Predator originally? Jean Claude Van Damme.

However Van Damme left after creative differences, but because he was connected to the Predator brand, he was offered the script for Blood Sport, and three days later after leaving the set of Predator, he flew to Hong Kong to start filming Blood Sport. The movie became so iconic, that it influenced gaming industry to make a game based on Blood Sport and Van Damme, that came went onto become Mortal Kombat. It was basically based on blood sport, and the character of Johnny Cage was basically Van Damme. Universal Solider in 1992 gave them the idea give them powers beyond death. When the time came for the production of a live action version of Mortal Kombat, they wanted Van Damme, after all the film was dedicated to him, but Van Damme decline and instead did the rival movie, Street Fighter. That always makes me smile, that Van Damme refused to do a movie on a game based on him, to do a rival movie within the same genre. They changed the script for MK then and focused on Liu Kang, who was the Bruce Lee and made the movie more like a tribute to Enter The Dragon.

The live action version of Street Fighter, Van Damme had an affair with Kylie Minogue who played Cammy, it was her first big budget movie. The movie was also Raul Julia's last big movie, he played the role of M.Bison. The movie itself was overshadowed by the Japanese anime that came out at the same, which was far more dedicated to the story line.
Agreed. The animé is wicked. The Vega part is brilliant.

I didn't play that. I played X-Men Vs Street Fighter.
