SP Aria, Alpha Apex + Wise, Gamma ELS 5800, LaserFibre 200 DX

Hi guys,

I'm a newbie to stringing as I've only strung once on my friend's Prince Neos but I'm thinking about buying a stringing machine and would like for help/advice in choosing one.

Price: $1200(meaning decent upright machine) - $2000
I only string probably like 3, 4 racquets a month but I like gadgets and I don't mind spending max $2k as it's still cheaper than some laptop computer.(Actually I sold one laptop I got as a gift and have $2500 cash in my wallet now but not sure if I need to spend that much as I just play with my friends after work and not a shop owner or anything!!)

I've been reading this forum for a while and thinking about the below as I want constant pull.
SP Aria, Alpha Apex or Gamma 6400 + Wise, Gamma ELS 5800, LaserFibre 200 DX or EM450 XLE(if it's affordable).

Which one do you folks recommend and why? Pros and Cons?
Anyone know about the LF EM450 XLE?

Thanks for your help in advance. (This is my very first posting! )

The SP Aria is out of stock. I like both the Apex and Gamma 6004. I added a Wise to my Ektelon Model H a year ago. I am really happy with it. I don't think you can go wrong with either. Having a crank as a back up, if the wise doesn't work, power is out, or whatever is not a bad idea.

Some love the Laserfibre machines, but I have never seen one in person, and I like the look of the classic machines (I am old school). I have not read much on the Gamma 5800 - might do a search.

Good Luck...

Although the SP Aria is out of stock - sometimes they have demo machines available to sell. Call Steve at the number on the SP website and he can tell you whether they have any available. The demo machines have only been used for a few string jobs and are still in great condition. I just got one myself about 3 weeks ago.

LaserFibre MS200DX machine

Hello,

I have one of these machines in like new condition that has only strung 25 or so frames on it. It includes everything that comes with a new one. I want $1,100 for it plus the cost of shipping and handling ($100 or so). Let me know if you want more information at karl@karlconner.com

Hi guys. Thanks for all of your inputs. What's your personal preferences among these machines?

On the big auction site there is an Alpha Revo 4000 with a custom built stand for sale. Search Alpha Revo. From what I read, the Apex is just a Revo on a stand (pretty much the same clamps, tensioner, etc...). This auction site seller seems to have everything you are looking for and you can save a few bucks. Plus you can use the machine as a table top or a stand machine.

My personal preference for an electronic machine is the Aria. It has it all; best clamps, tensioner, and comes with a foot pedal. Also you can use it as a stand or tabletop. By the time you buy an Apex or Gamma 6004 and put a Wise on it you end up spending the same money, so why not buy SP's top of the line product to start with. My only knock on the LF's are they are overpriced.

The auction for the Revo is the older version (stamped turntable, no spring assisted clamp bases, V side supports). It will still work just fine, but that version of the Revo was basically a tabletop version of the Axis Pro not the tabletop version of the Blu-DC like the current upgraded Revo 4000. The main differences with the Apex are full suspension mounting system (similar to the Babolat Sensor), and spring assisted clamp bases.

Thanks Barry and Masamusou for additional inputs as well as others.
I'm leaning toward to get the SP Aria. Steve at Silent Partner replied promptly to my emails and seems very honest and a great guy. jjmaus(sorry if I misspelt that)seems to like his so maybe I'll get the same.

I agree with Barry and its seems like Wise + Crank will be around the same price range so I might as well get the Aria. Still thinking...

My research found to the Aria has the best electronic stringer for under 2K. Sometimes the big auction site has demo units for $1200. My situation is I need a machine which does both tabletop and standalone. The two I am considering are the Smart 6000 (http://www.eagnas.com/smart600.html) it has everything but pre-stretch, plus no foot pedal.
Strung a couple of frames on an Aria, and have to say, it was very nice. Clamps are first rate; rotational gripper was a little strange for me. Always had linear, but overall very nice, and yes I liked the 360 rotation which I did not get with the Wise unit.
