Spain Defends Nadal From Doping Accusations From France

MADRID — The Spanish government and Olympic committee have defended Rafael Nadal from doping accusations made by a former French official.

Former French Minister for Health and Sport Roselyne Bachelot told French television on Thursday that Nadal's seven-month injury hiatus in 2012 was "probably due to a positive doping test."

The Spanish Olympic Committee has responded with a statement saying Nadal "has been submitted to innumerable anti-doping controls that he has always passed throughout his long career."

Miguel Cardenal, the president of Spain's Higher Sports Council, calls Bachelot's accusations "slander of one of the most important athletes in history."

Nadal's coach and uncle, Toni Nadal, called Bachelot "an imbecile," according to Spanish media.

Bachelot's accusations come in the wake of Maria Sharapova's failed doping test.

I much rather discuss about tennis but this forum has already turned into PED forum so there's nothing you can do except join the group. Nadal has always been suspicious in doping so it's not unusual that there's another accusation and no surprise that it's coming from France.

Bachelot has been, all throughout her career, known in France to be a stooge of the pharmaceutical industry; she has the same integrity and credibility as would Michel Garetta, the POS medical transfusions boss who got jailed for infecting people with AIDS in the eighties.

I hope she goes down hard for this stupid remark.

Despicable thread.

The OP himself is.

Garbage, garbage, pure garbage !!!

It is not a stupid remark.

It is an admirable point of view, but, unfortunately, one that will be hard to hold onto.

:(

Not that I would side with a weak-ass-because-of-no-evidence-accusation (I certainly would , if it would lead to banning him), but the "he passed numerous doping tests" is a kind of weak sauce that Lance used basically all his life.

As true as that may be, the problem with this is that the only way to prove that someone is clean is to test them and then to have them pass the said test.

If you test them and they pass and yet that's still not evidence that they're clean, even the cleanest person is going to have a hard time convincing anyone that he hasn't had so much as a sip of green tea for leisurely purposes.

It's just going to be a cr@p flinging contest with people flinging their gravy at whomever or whatever they don't like, and that's what is going on right now.

I don't know, this is a messy topic. Everyone's become guilty even when proven otherwise.

Well, Nadal hasn't been banned yet based on newspaper articles or random opinions, so, we accept that the system in place is preventing the ultimate mudslinging contest.

However, that will not stop the people with interests in those matters to continue to study the situation in hopes that the truth will come out.

:D

Ya betcha. Once the old hag gets pinched, she'll roll like a cannoli on all her johns, pimps, users, and possessors with intent.

That's true but Nadal wasn't the one who failed a drug test and was publicly disgraced, Sharapova was. You need to deal with that reality as a Sharapova fan. Her image will never be the same again even if she receives a short ban, rebuilds her image and continues to play for several years. She will always have that doping thing following her.

Maybe the French just got tired of seeing their hallmark tennis event being dominated year after year by a Spaniard! ;)
They got this habbit from their neighbour UK , after all UK slowed down the grass in favour of Rafa, when her adopted son won Wimbledon five times in a row....lol.

So, since Kimmage was right, it automatically casts doubts on every sports champion in every discipline until the end of times unless one can prove otherwise.

Ok kid.

We get it.

I just said that nothing should be taken for granted and the quest for finding out the truth must continue.

I am yet to hear of any athlete being convicted on rumours alone, but I have heard of several athletes being convicted of doping after an investigative journalism had an initial impact.

This "weak sauce" response is just as likely to come from a 100% clean athlete (it's really their only defense) as it is from a lying doper, so it really tells us nothing about said athlete until it's proven false.

That is true, but since yoou would receive the same answer from dopers and non-dopers saying it is basically no indication for whether an athlete doped or not.

It is basically no proof of anything, and that is what I said.

Ok, I agree. I thought "weak sauce" meant you presumed it was a lie or that there are better/more honest responses possible.

TMF, there's no need to go out of your way to join in an activity you so despise. Talk Tennis will be just fine without any posts from you.

Except his superhuman performances & shady injury time-outs are certainly not helping his "I'm clean" case.
oh wait..sorry he's just naturally like that, his uncle was called the "beast" & PRP treatments are proven methods to cure knees etc etc etc

Usually, I'm not among those defending the journalistic profession.

But even me must revolt when you're comparing somebody like Kimmage to that spineless, disgusting, sleazy slimeball corporate 2 dimes prostitute called Roselyne Bachelot.

PS: In my comparison, it wasn't my intention to defame prostitutes by citing her name.

I don't know the lady, so I cannot comment on her motives, but it seems strange to just randomly name a specific athlete for something like that.

I am sure that Nadal has a good case to sue, but it will be interesting whether he will do that.

Usually, the dopers are agressive in defending themselves untill there is a breakthrough somewhere and then the floodgates open to drawn them.

Lance might have never been caught, should he had not attempted a comeback or tried to bully the pople the way he did.

Before we know what her true motives were, it is risky to just call her names, just because .....

And it is pretty obvious to say that her motives were driven form her willingness for someone else other than Nadal to win the French.

After all, the last year someone else won it.

The ITF defends Nadal from doping accusations. Of course they would try to protect their cash cow lol. Are they going to lie about Federer's silent ban too? This is getting ridiculous.

Official statement from the ITF (it's translated from Spanish to English by Google so the language isn't very concise).

"The accusations of Roselyne Bachelot against Rafael Nadal are not only surprising but also incorrect. All players convicted of a violation of the Anti-Doping Tennis Program are publicly announced as required under the rules of the Programme and the World Anti-Doping Code" .

" In addition, WADA (the World Anti-Doping Agency) maintains its own independent monitoring of the results of the samples collected of the players, so they would not only be aware of any attempt to camouflage ( 'cover up') or failed deliberate in acting on any positive control, but would also have the right to appeal against any decision, so as to pursue any apparent breach that had occurred in the program ".

They are lying about both Nadal's 2012 and now Federer's 2016 silent bans. The ITF cannot fool us TTW posters. We know how doped Fedal are.

Until the Spanish judiciary cleans up its act I personally think it is fair game to slander Spanish athletes. The cover up of Operation Puerto is outrageous if you think about it. I doubt we will ever get to the truth of the matter as footballers too will be implicated thus undermining Spain of their World Cup and European Cup victories to some extent.

Credit to the Americans for having the balls to out Armstrong.
