the difference in .2 inches between the 18x20 and 16x19 speed mp results in such a big jump in swingweight.. hmm wow

But doesn't hide the fact that the top hoop of that racquet is so freakin' ugly it just cannot be sold! Nothin' wrong with a jet black PJ with touches of orange.

When are these coming out?

How does the Speed 18x20 compare with a racquet like the Blade, since I want to compare the new BLX Blade and the new IG 18x20 but neither are out.

The 300 sounds like a nice tweener. I guess it's replacing the Speed Elite? Like the 63 Flex :)

The 300 is a new racket of the Speed line and is not replacing anything. There are like 7 rackets in the new IG Speed line (Pro, MP 16x19, MP 18x20, MP 300, Elite, Lite and the last one seems like Revolt) according to this catalog, though the words are small.

which is the thickness of the beam for speed 300gr?balance point are for frame strung true?
the past line the flex for mp 16*19 and 18*20 not is the same.

they changed the headlight from 7 to 8 lol....
Pro from 8.8 to 9 :lol

lol I also noticed that. Doesn't look like they changed much besides a new paint job. The 16x19 sw looks higher but thats about it. I still prefer the pj of the old speedline. anyone have any idea if the head shape is still round?

man.. how come the Head sale reps told me that there is no more Speed PRO?? I even made a bet against him for a dinner.. so there is a new Speed Pro 335g unstrung??.. I saw the new head catalog and there is no SPeed pro 335g unstrung in there either..

New Speeds

The new Speeds feel very different than the current frames. They might have similar specs and names but that's about it. I currently play with the Speed MP 16x19 and I'll definitely be switching to the new 315 16x19 when it comes out. I had the 315 for about a week and I loved it - more pop and stability. The 300 will be worth a demo for a lot of players as well. Very stable, powerful, and forgiving. Easy to swing and a fun hit.

Some people don't like the new paintjob but it does look very nice in person.

Geez they really buggered the Speed MP 16 swingweight. Not sure I'd even want to demo it vs. my current one. The lighter swingweights were really what separated them from so many other models.

are you sure of specs for balance point and the 20mm beam thickness for speed mp 300gr?

How about the new Speed Pro bumpers, saw one in the shop last week and they have clear plastic bumpers that are like the caps on the prestige, the Speed MP's were clear plastic as well but more normal in appearance? Do you guys think that Head 'capping' the Speed Pro will make it play better? I really got nothing from the old one, just felt lifeless to me so maybe this might improve it?

The Speed is a bit easier to hit with the big round head shape, the Wilson is more oval? I think you'd get more spin with the Speed and hopefully a few less shanks? :)

Any other opinions? I am probably going to give the 18x20 IG Speed a try compared to the KB 98. How soft does the current Speed feel?

I think the current (and the new speed for that matter) are about 68 flex, so firm without being too stiff. They certainly flex in different places than the kblade 98 which in theory should be more flexible but maybe due to the tight pattern and how it flexed felt stiffer to me than the stated 64 when I hit it? H22 felt really stiff! The Speed felt more forgiving on off-centre hits but gets even better with some lead?

I kind of have to agree with you Winston. I have a demo of the new Speed 315 16x19 and it's a bit more stable than the previous version. One other thing I noticed was that it's not as harsh as the previous version as well; the strings in the demo were the poly/multi hybrid that Head puts in their racquets (don't know the name) and the tension feels fairly tight which leads me to believe that they somewhat fixed the problem I had with the last version, which was that harshness. I'm quite curious about this frame now and would definitely want to put in my regular strings and low tension to really give it a good run. As for the swingweight, I didn't think it was too heavy nor too light, but a function of that could be the strings. I plan on playing again tomorrow and Wednesday and will give a more detailed review.
