Speed Solution FF3

Anybody so far tried both the FF2 and FF3's, and can comment on differences in fit? I have pretty narrow feet, and so far the FF2's are the only shoes I've found where I don't get tons of blisters from excessive sliding around inside the shoe. I still struggle a bit with blisters on the balls of my feet, but the FF2's haven't been too bad.

Hoping the FF3's have really similar fit. If they're wider it will be a no-go for me.

I'm playing with FF2 clay and will receive the FF3 clay on friday. Will let you know about the fit and especialy the toe box. I bought 44.5 instead of 45 in case of the toe box would be more roomy and also because the material is completely different and will stretch way more for sure. If it's really too small, I can return it at TWE for free.

The FF3! Just had more fun with them today, really got a lot of burst out of them and was getting to drop shots with ease after a full sprint from the baseline. I will say one tip: if you have any stability concerns, the upper-most eyelet has a short hole and a deep hole, and once I re-laced to the deeper hole, they felt super stable. Great shoe.

They feel so comfortable yet I keep getting a blister at my left ankle which I had never got any blister before. It is probably related to the orthotics raising the heel a bit but I didn't have this issue with gel resolution 9. I even tried putting a heel pad but didn't make a difference. Btw, I had to go from US8.5 to 9 when I switched from gel resolutions.

is there any heel slippage issues ? Also i am finding that front of the shoe is bit tight. i wonder if it will loosen up as i play with them more ?

My impressions:

-a total redesign
-fixed few stuff but in one main thing they went backwards.

Pros:
-ankle support has increased and the fit is more secure. The ankle area is noticeably more cushioned too.
-more cushioning on the heal bottom area too which it has also been increased in height
-softer and more plush/thicker tongue
-the weight decrease comes probably from the new materials of the upper….. you literally feel nothing like the upper part is missing.
-the fit in general is wider but the shoe sizing has been decreased…. around half a size shorter. But dimensions are wider at all areas of the sole…. from side to side.

Con
-it only has one main con. Speed ff 2s were so plush and soft feeling. From the first ride they were feeling like walking in sth very plush. On ff 3s you will feel like the cushioning on the forefoot (all the area from inside heal edge to the toes) has been almost half reduced. On that area they are very very very firm. Comfort is not their priority any more.

In general the shoe feels like a vapor x which i loved, very low to the ground, very commutative but in the cost of smooth ride. Forget the squeeziness of 2s. The forefoot in here is stiff……i got the same stiff feeling from court ff 3s also at the same area. If comfort is not your issue this is definitely an improvement over 2s.

If anyone needs ASICS comfort resolution 9 is the only way to go….. but still res 8s were even more soft and plush.

Not agree at all. Forefoot is way more comfy than the FF2! You can feel the added cushioning in the forefoot. The FF3 is way more comfy than the FF2. For sure. And it's lighter... Perfect shoe for me. Now I have to see the durability. I have the clay version.

I tried runners loop to avoid heel slippage but I think it is the orthotics that raises my heel a bit too high and heel lock doesn't align well with my ankle and rubs the lower part of my achilleas.
The weird thing is that I would expect the blister to be on my right foot because it is a bit smaller than my left one but it is on my let ankle. I select my shoes based on my left foot because otherwise I end up with a small shoe.

It was a bit tight but not an uncomfortable level but I don't have wide feet.

Only bad thing about FF3 for me is that you need to break them in longer. I needed 5-6 matches to really feel them. I would tend to agree there is a bit less cushion in the forefoot (or the stiffer upper makes them feel this way) but there is more in the heel (but they are bulkier due to this fact).

We don't buy the same shoe... I really feel more cushioning under the forefoot and Asics did it as an improvement compare to the FF2. And that better cushioning give better comfort and better energy return. You can run faster than ever with the FF3. And they are so light...

Actually they are much heavier than ff2 like 20-25g more.

I wore the Asics FF 2 since they came out and have tried on the 3's. From my experience some rough takeaways...

  • Shoe needed to break in for me. Step in comfort was a lot better on the FF2. Feet felt sore after transitioning to the FF3.
  • FF2 felt more plush on the forefoot and overall tighter / lockdown feeling for me (which i prefer over FF3). I think this has to do with the material as the FF3 is more knit than all rubber and the toe box felt narrower
  • FF3 is lighter but I felt like there is more room for my feet to move around as the toe box is a bit wider

I just asked foot doctor and told me that his favourite ASICS among the latest ones is the new speeds. Just saying….

The FF2's are fantastic shoes. I've been playing them for years: a pair for clay, a pair for hard courts.

Going lighter with a cloth upper is a great move for the FF3. My only criticism of the FF2 has been breathability and occasional friction from the rubbery upper material during break in. The cloth upper should fix that problem. I'm not a hardcourt slider, so no issue for me.

I recently upgraded to Game Day insoles for my FF2's, but they're great stock too.

Yea I agree, FF2's are almost perfect for my foot. A little more breathability and they would be 100%.

I have always struggled with blisters on the ball of foot and big toe, I have really narrow feet and tend to slide around too much inside shoes. The combo of FF2's with Thorlo Max cushion socks got me 90% of the way to solving the problem. Swapping the insoles on the shoes seems to have gotten me all the way there. I like the looks of the FF3, but I tend to think I'll scoop up a pair or two of FF2's before they're totally gone. Surprised they are not more discounted yet.

Played with these for the first time last night. Incredibly fast shoe. It certainly helps to propel you forward and makes you want to play more of an All court game. I had a bit of toe jamming but didn't notice it much towards the end so hopefully that will sort itself out. I have a wider foot and the previous model was just a little too tight for me. I have been rotating the vapor pro 2 and gel resolution 9 wide. This shoe is way faster. Hoping toe jamming goes away because im eager to make this my official shoe of 2024..

It will break in nicely after 6/8 hours of play. ;)
So speedy shoe!! :p:happydevil:

I put a couple minutes into cinching up the laces from bottom to top and this is now my official shoe of 2024. It's so fast and performance oriented. My VP2's felt like bricks when i compared the two. I have the clay outsole and this shoe noticeably made me a better mover. looking forward to new colors.

Would a half size up for wider forefoot be recommended in your opinion?

half size up won't make much different in terms of forefoot wideness. These shoes are pretty narrow imo and I wouldn't recommend them if you have wide feet. I have normal feet (according to athletes foot measurement) and they feel a bit tight although I went half a size up.

If it's Adidas shoes, I wear 41.5 if it's Nike I wear 42 but my foot size is 41
I wear Nike running shoes 42 and I had to buy 42.5 of ff3 because 42s were very tight fit.

My question is not the width, but the length. I don't have wide feet. However, as I wear a size 41, I don't know if a size 41.5 will be fine, or if I'll have to buy a size 42 so my toes don't hit the front, taking into account that tennis socks are also thicker.

They run true to size in terms of length. In US sizes I wear 10.5 for most shoes. The FF3s I bought are 10.5 and they fit great. So just get the size you normally wear.

I don't have wide feet either(I am a slim guy with almost boney feet), but size 42 felt so tight in terms of both wideness and length.
It is the first time that I bought shoes with size 42.5 btw. All my other shoes Nike shoes are 42, and Gel resolutions are 42. I haven't bought any Adidas recently but they were 41.5 last time I did. If I were you I would definitely try first.

Tested my new FF3 yesterday and and it is mostly negative for me. I have some problem with Slipping on the court.. Traction on this very Poor. i think they made it for guys that slide alot on the court, not for me. and there was some instibility with Ankle stability.,, never felt locked in,,, always worried about my ankle when i was running out wide for the wide balls and running in to smash short lobs.

perfect example is, when i had a short lob i ran in to smash it and i couldn't get set so i didn't hit it as hard as i normally do and guy at the net reflexed it for clean winner.........LOL... he said later,, thanks man for being nice and not hitting it so hard............ I am like OK,,, wasn't on purpose but glad you were able to reflex it away for clean winner :-D

Do you prefer res 9 ? I suggest doing the runners knot.

I tried this shoe on and it felt quite narrow in the midfoot, wider in the forefoot. Also, big time heel slippage issue for me. A bummer, wanted to like it. Long lost Asics Speed 2 remains my goat shoe. Wish they could bring it back like Nike did with the Vapor 9/9.5 for a time.
