Speedport Tour Vs Ozone Pro Tour?

G.O.A.T.
So, i am thinking i'm gonna stay with prince, because i have gotten so used to playing with o3 racquets that nothing else feels right. i currently use the o3 tour 95", which is discontinued.

I recently demoed the Speedport tour, and though i liked how it it, i found it had too much power, and the string bed was a little unpredictable. it also felt pretty light, and it threw off my timing. My question is, would the ozone pro tour be a reasonable upgrade from the o3 tour 95"? i know it's a 100, but i am looking at 100's, and i've read that the pro tour 18x20 stringbed still has plenty of spin, and helps control the o3 tech.

can someone give me their opinion on the pro tour's playing characteristics versus the speedport tour? i am lookin gfor a heavier stick, with somewhat less power, and more control. is this the stick for me?

yes the o3tour pro less power and more control.... more consistant stringbed.

29 views and one reply? nobody care?

it would be really helpful, im trying to decide quickly before prince discontinues 5 frames again (since they discontinued the o3 tours..only reason i have to switch..)

I have hit with both alot and chose the Pro Tour because of the great control; some of my buds were turned off by the 18x20 pattern saying that there would be no spin but, if your stroke is solid, spin is no problem. I hit a huge fh and need topspin to keep em in and I have yet to have any kinks with the Pro Tour (that was not of my own fault.) As for the weight it feels a tad heavy in the hand but swings very easily, it is really the most stable o3 I have ever tried. The SP Tour was very nice but packed more of a punch then what I wanted. I often found that depth and pace were quite unconsistant with the SPT, making me a little nervous of what would happen when I went for the big finisher. If you have not already, try demoing them side by side and see which one you like more; they are both great stix its just that the Pro Tour suited my game better.

i've tried it, and it reminds me of the sp tour, except even more powerful. the sp tour i found was at the upper limit of my ability to control the power, and i figured with a good hybrid i'd have no problem. but the crispness of the hybrid tour turns me completely off to using it. it's just really powerful, but also has a high swingweight, so i couldnt get the spin to keep control of it.

I never demoed the Ozone, but I've been playing with the SP for a couple months now.
I'm an intermediate junior, so my post may not matter too much =P, but I'll surely give you my opinion.

The SP is around 12oz more or less with QC+OverGrip, but when you swing it it definitely feels a lot lighter. The racquet head speed I can generate off of the thing is crazy, I always feel like I can swing it harder :). It allows me to keep my self esteem up and play more aggressively.

I found the SP tour very solid feeling, has a lot of power on it, but very good control as well (imo).
A little too much power isn't always a bad thing. Eventually you can adjust your game to it, and then really feed off of it.
Since I'm still learning the game, I picked up the racquet and did really good with it from the get-go. Since I started using the racquet I've finally decided to switch my grip to a semi-western/western. (I'd been hitting mostly continental...)

I smack the crap out of the ball. My old racquet was crap at the net, and with the SP tour I've seen alot of improvements in my net-game.

It really depends on what you like in a racquet. It's easy for me to change my game because I'm newer to tennis.
I'll leave the post with a common quote my brother told me when I was looking at racquets,
"You want the racquet that you can just pick up and play with at any time, and not have to adjust or think about it."

did you try the string hole inserts or the port inserts on the sp tour?

I demoed the SP tour and the Hybrid tour. And I agree. Despite Prince's power ratings (having the sp tour rated as more powerful), the hybrid tour was impossible to control. I, too, loved the sp tour, but thought that it was a bit lively. I'd LOVE to get my hands on one a SP tour with an 18x20 pattern. Might be perfect. Too bad it doesn't exist.

I haven't yet tried the Ozone Pro Tour. But I do like the idea of the 18x20 on one of prince's O racquets. Might be just what you're looking for. If you're wanting less power/more control, give the OPT a try.

If you don't like the OPT, get the SP tour, string it at 62 or 63, and add a dampener. (I put a dampener on the SP tour demo, and was impressed. It killed some of the liveliness, making it more bearable).

Other option is to stick with your current frames. I bought the More Control DB MP, and it was discontinued shortly after. I managed to sc**** one up for cheap. Been using those frames since then. Finally reached the point where I'm looking at new stuff. Unless you break frames a lot, or just aren't happy with your current stick, you might hold off a little longer. Maybe the next line from Prince will have a more controlled option (I would hope so, cause it seems that a lot of people want to see that).
