Spin friendly, low powered, durable, and affordable? What's out there?

I use low powered players racquets, and am starting to get back in to the game after a hiatus. I play mostly on carpet now. I'm looking for something that allows me to swing out, generate my own pace but help me out with spin, and is cheap and durable. There's a HUGE choice in strings nowadays, and I was hoping y'all could help me out here.

Cheers

Check out the Solinco line of strings. They all pretty much meet your criteria as durable, low powered, spin friendly polys.

You are correct sir. There are so many polyester strings that will help in the low power, spin department, so it can make be confusing as to which brand to use. Solinco polyester strings, as the previous poster stated, is a good area to start. I would suggest Tourna Black Zone (16g) because it is the least expensive, durable and low powered string that I have used. The importance of having an inexpensive poly string is due to the fact that you must restring them every 15 hours or so because they become too springy, and you will lose the control that you had when they were fresh. Depending upon your age and skill level, you may also find that polyester strings could cause arm soreness. If that's the case, then you will be forced to use a synthetic gut string at high tension. Unfortunately, you won't get the spin and control that you would from poly strings. Good luck and enjoy your tennis.

I am currently using an array of poly's in several different control oriented sticks. My main sticks currently are a dunlop BioM, Pure Control, and a wilson braided, all leaded up. I was considering the Volkl Cylone Chris uses.

Hey, just a quick question if you don't mind, which solinco string do you reckon performs the best that is durable, low powered and spin friendly.

Hmm. Well I reckon Tour Bite will have the most spin, Outlast will have the most durability, and as for power, I'd say Tour Bite has the least power in it's thicker gauges but opens up more as you go lower in gauge. I think you're looking for a thicker gauge since you mention durability though, so for low power, I'd say TB.

I have been using Gosen Sidewinder and love it. Relatively affordable (it's on sale) and I can string a full bed of poly and not feel the pain from other polys I've used

Barb Wire has the utmost spin. Now, that you mention it, I am going to test a hybrid of Tour Bite (57) x Outlast (54).

oops sorry. When I meant durability, I meant playability duration/

I used to use Volkl Cyclone, spin was great but playability fell off pretty quickly. Dunlop Black Widow was ridiculous in the spin department but had a weird feel even when fresh and playability duration was even shorter than Cyclone.
I've been a big fan of Discho Iontec for a while now and love it. Spin is great (maybe not Black Widow level spin but I get all the spin I could want). The high points for Iontec are the feel and playability duration... and the price. I'm in Europe and a reel is 40€. I was on the fence between round or the Hexa, kept switching back and forth but now I use Hexa in the mains and the round in the crosses. That seems to be a perfect match. I use 17 and 18 gauges in soft 18x20 players rackets.

I've been experimenting with lower tensions as well to see if I can get more out of the strings. Poly seems to play very well at lower tensions, and lasts quite a bit longer in my 95S. My other sticks are a PCT, DUnlop m3.0, Yonex AI 98, 95 non S, etc.

Volkyl Cyclone or V-Star. I've recently bought up quite a bit of the TW sale priced V-Star. these are both what I'd call bread and butter strings. they are soft enough for a full bed, and both very spinny. tension maintenance and durability are exceptionally ... average.

Hmm. All of them lose plenty of tension, but still play plenty well. Barb Wire dies quick though. Revolution, TB, and Outlast last alright. I'd say TB 16L lasts by far the longest and is also the lowest powered, while also being very spin friendly.

Weiss Cannon Black 5 Edge. Nasty spin and very low powered. Only comes in 17g.
Ditto for this. Black 5 Edge is one of the best all-round polys there is when you consider the price - much better than basically every better known alternative I've tried.

Weiss Cannon strings also have amongst the best performance curves over their life too. As a hybrid with a syn-gut in the crosses Black 5 Edge is brilliant.

RPM Team, 4G, 4G rough, Solinco tour Bite. 4G isn't all that soon friendly, but I threw it in there just because it lasts so long.
