Spin/Power-Friendly Alternative to 4G

Been using a full bed of 4G in my Pure Strike Tour. I like the crisp response and the tension maintenance, but that's it. I don't get much spin or pop with these strings, no matter what tension I go with.

I tried Tour Bite 16L yesterday and it was definitely way more spin-friendly and had better power. My shots were going nice and deep into the court and I was able to swing a little more freely. I strung it rather low at 52lbs, which I don't think I'll do again. Going to try it in the 57-58 range next time.

Also tried RPM Blast. Ick. Good spin and power, but way too soft.

Is there another one out there with that crispy response and better than average tension maintenance but that also provides decent spin and power? Not too concerned with arm issues.

Thanks!

Kirschbaum Pro Line X and Head Hawk are two smooth strings with great access to spin and very good tension maintenance for polys.

Yep, there is nothing like 4G in terms of tension stability, but it does not provide any freebies in terms of spin or power. I use poly as a cross for gut though. I am trying yonex ptp 1.20 and it has more spin than 4G. Let's see how long it lasts.

Solinco Outlast, Solinco Revolution, hell, any Solinco string.

Yonex Poly Tour HS 1.25mm or Poly Tour Spin

natural gut/4G feels great. Only downside is that 4G notches over time, even by gut mains. Limits spin over time but power/pop remains great.

Head hawk is stiff but still fairly spin friendly. You could definitely check it out. Another one I really like that's cheap is Dunlop Ice. Stiff, kind of uncomfortable but definitely spin friendly.

Played another match tonight. Just spent a bunch of money getting my two racquets strung up, so I decided to at least get my money's worth.

Played the entire first set with the RPM Blast. Initially this string feels a little spongy but once I got used to it, I could get good depth and good pace. OK control. Occasional launches, but that is probably me, not the string. Set went well, though and I decided to stay with RPM for the second set.

But, I served first in the second set and started having big problems with control. Long. Wide. Net. Reeeeally long, etc. Managed to hold serve and immediately switched to the Tour Bite stick. Returns were crisp, spinny and controlled. Awesome. When I served, it was more of the same: lots of control, pace and spin. Problems solved. Crazy. Second set was over in half the time the first took, and a lot of that was down to a lot more control and confidence from this string.

Verdict is that, while RPM Blast is a great string for some people, it aint for me. And if you can get more than 4 sets out of that string I think you're doing pretty good. I cannot.

Tour Bite is definitely a contender. I don't have a ton of money to spend on strings, so I have to narrow this list a lot. I'm thinking Kirschbaum Pro Line X and maybe Head Hawk.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone.
