Since there is not much info on Spinshot Plus-2 HS, I decided too share my experience with some DIY (as an European customer):
Ordering:
Ordered from .de domain, payed and after a few days of no update, contacted "support", which informed they are out of Plus-2 and will have to wait at least a week. After a week of silence, somehow reached them by email, and we agreed to direct shipping from their actual location - Hong Kong (yes, I believe they are Chinese company, which is fine by me). Machine came without issues in 2-3 days.
Packaging and first impressions:
All was top quality: well packaged, excellent paint job/coating (it really is hard and durable), strong carry handles, good cable management and so on.
Usage:
For me, it has plenty of power (I usually don't use more than 1/2 of the speed during training). Manually all the lobs, spins and so on works fine with plenty of power for more advanced players. The machine is silent for outdoor usage (except for some vibrations during wheel speed change due to slightly unbalanced throwing wheels, nothing major).
Haven't tried wifi, but BT to the phone works fine, so I simply dedicated lightest old phone Iphone 6 that I don't use (both Iphone and Android works without much complaint). Watch on the other hand - sucks big time: bulky, abrassive, restrictive and constantly disconnecting... And somehow costs 2x if bought with Plus-2 vs Player.
Most advanced Control panel of Plus-2 is useless for me, use it only for starting the machine, the rest - phone app. So in summary - Player HS without Watch is a better option (I think very few would miss those features).
Top hopper/feeder does not close perfectly - needs some plastic trimming at edges, rattles during transport and are too loose when filled with balls (easy DIY fix). Feeder misses some balls at the end, but in 15 hours played (>1000 balls) had no jam.
DIY/Battery/Servicing:
The machine is not very compact, it needs to be transported on the side (at least for reasonably sized cars), so internal lead acid battery is a big NO NO. Spinshot did not included it anyways and even after few emails of voltage specification request, had to figure it out myself. So the machine takes any battery from ~11v (lead acid)-14.5V (lifepo4) and it seems does not blow 10A fuse (which I added with quick change for safety, original circuit does not have any protection, unless it is very deeply integrated).
I don't know why, but no manufacturer offer alternative battery connections for the batteries (ps. I know - profits of proprietary hardware
), so I made it myself. Since many have cordless power tools with 14-18v Lithium batteries at home already, it means there is no point of having more. All is needed is adapter by power tool brand, voltage stabilizer and some common sense connecting. Cost for me was ~50$, but now I can simply use existing batteries with their quick charging stations. Makita 6Ah 18v LXT battery holds ~100Wh, charges in 1h; 12v 12AH Lead acid holds ~140Wh, charges for ages, weights 5x more. And the best part - it it widely available or already owned. Lots of e-waste saved - you are welcome mother Earth
