Sponsorship Changes for 2023

She will just wear asics anyway i think. I was just wondering if there’s going to be some big photohoot or something

Nike just signed Sinner to a 10 year 100 million extension. Nike is NOT leaving the tennis market.
Actually this deal means exactly they don’t care about tennis :-D what is any other reason they could do anything stupid like throwing absurd money to a guy who won’t win single Slam ever nor is good looking. He will never sell anything.

Giron appears to be back to the 2021 VCore paintjob, so i guess he actually switched to the 2023 model for the Aus Open

Yep, he worked out the sad reality of Melbourne tennis conditions and doesn’t want any reminders.
(Been spending most of my life livin’ in a hacker’s paradise...).

Nobody likes that a promising athlete is unstable with his sponsorship, I think he should get a clothing brand at once and not buy it at every tournament what's up
People here have suggested that he never really was sponsored by NB, and that he was wearing their stuff until he was able to work out an agreement with someone.

Not an agreement. He has a deal with ON but their tennis clothing is not ready for launch yet. If I had to guess, Miami or the french.

Garin using Nike at Indian Wells during practice sessions. Couldn’t load pics but you can check his instagram stories

Very odd. It would surprise me if he's actually sponsored by them now.
Does Nike have 1 overarching tennis sponsorship department or do different countries such as Chile have a Nike Chile who can sponsor players? I'd imagine it's just the 1 sponsorship team as they've cut so many players and we would probably see all kinds of random players wearing Nike. I wonder if they genuinely see potential in him given he can play on clay and grass or whether he has agreed some kind of results based sponsorship/maybe he's just kitting himself in full Nike as he can't find a sponsor/is waiting for a good offer? His results bar Wimbledon last year have been poor if I remember correctly. I thought he would be Ruud level on clay as a few years ago it looked like Ruud, Berrettini and Garin were all on a similar trajectory.

I'm sure all sponsorship decisions come from the head office.

If every country had a Nike division that gave out sponsorships then all kinds of randoms would be wearing the swoosh.

Weird to see Nike sponsor Garin as it doesn't fit their MO. Usually they sponsor a bunch of young guys and then get rid of the ones that don't have a lot of success or are just uniquely popular like Kyrgios.

It's funny because just as Jack Sock switched from a Babolat PA to a Yonex EZone, Steve Johnson just switched back to Babolat from his EZ98 (PA98 2023 PJ, but still wearing Yonex clothing) at this same tourney.

That is a bit mad. But it makes sense. The two racquets aren't really hugely different. The Aero Storm even has a squarish head. I used one for a while, and it reminded me of my Yonex.

Here it is next to my AI:

One question, someone buy in the online ON Running store? I ask this because I want to buy a shirt and I’m not too sure about if there are another online store, in the online stores since the prices appear in chf (swiss franc)

Just happen to be watching Danimal Collins playing dubs tonight on TC at Indian Wells. She’s not using her Babolat Pure Aero anymore. It looks like a Tecnifibre stick though she still has a Babolat bag… fwiw

Mackie said on the Behind the Racquet podcast that Vasek is already done with Original Penguin so it’s only Ajla and him on the team.

that was quite fast:oops:
