Dang sir sorry I missed this, am honored to be the recipient of a Babolast tag, usually it's me shining your batsignal haha

It is strange bc that's a brand new Tshirt, and Alcaraz is wearing it too.
On the new Nike shirt, it is possible he got it before the end of the year and while he was still under contract. Those gift boxes of kits they get are usually sent well ahead of the events.

I'm guessing the decision to let him go was not popular internally and there are still people in denial, sending him new kits

Exactly what they did on golf.

Nike used to make clubs and stopped. It's nothing like that. Nike never made racquets or balls.

Nike simply getting out of the tennis business. Keep the top 4 players or so and that's it.

How is that "getting out of tennis"

They just revived the Vapors, have the top two ATP players signed to lucrative long term deals, and just had probably their best season in a long time with Winter24

They're big in the UK, moreso amongst women probably due to the yogi USP but especially their shorts are fairly common in the UK now especially in your boutique type fitness businesses. I have a hoody from them as the quality and feel is nice but it also doesn't have a logo on it. Are any male players wearing their stuff? I k ow Giron plays in competitor Vuori's gear and that's made me want to go to their store when I'm next in London.
Lulu has a pretty big following in Australia as well. There are a few lower ranked 100-200 Aussie and USA players I've seen with Lulu in the past year...

Alex Bolt (AUS) 155
Ethan Quinn (USA) 169
Li Tu (AUS)179 (just recently switched to Mizuno)

are the ones that come to mind but I may be missing a couple.

They let Tiger walk and create his own clothing line. They don't really promote Scottie or Rory. When you go to the main site, it is just one photo of Brooks. In contrast they used to really promote it 20 years ago.

But to your point, it is not getting out of tennis or golf. Just reducing the amount of promotional spend on players.

Yeah. And to be fair to guys like @gino they have cut back a lot internally. Yet somehow stayed near or at the top. We will see what they do with/for Sinner and Alcaraz but doesn't look like we will see their logo stuff quite yet

I think the strategy makes sense right now, despite how much it bums us out to lose the deeper cast of characters (Dimi, Lore, Frances, etc).

Load up all your investment dollars in the surest bets the sport has to offer. Those two show ponies should keep them selling gear for the next 15 years at least. To your earlier point, the golf strategy was a bit different. With equipment being in the portfolio, although tennis did dabble with bags (god I miss those). I would think they stay at the top so long as those two show ponies show up to the state fair (weird they wouldnt drop logos yet given that strategic direction)

Nike is basically done with individual sports with the exceptions of Track and Field (the brands roots) with almost no exceptions for other individual sports outside T&F with maybe the weightlifting programs still going to try to beat the cheaters some from Eastern Europe countries but mainly China. The only way to see individuals in most sports is if you see NCAA schools who are Nike sponsored.

Murray swinging the 2025 PJ Ezone.

And wearing Asics shoes.

I wonder why he didn’t consider the court ff series he was still on tour, the first version and the court ff 2 has some resemblance with his reverse engineered Under Armour Barricade, as the Asics was obviously also reverse engineered Barricade as well for Novak.

Murray should move back to hes pt57a now that hes only coaching, much nicer feeling frame and will make a better fit with Djoker whos also with head....
Why would he do that when Head isn’t going to pay him for advertising…? lol

I agree with this. Nike is refocusing their investment in the sport. I'd also have to guess that the sales of their tennis-specific clothes isn't doing great. At least in the US, the trend in athletic/tennis fashion is moving towards more basic sportswear, hence why you see brands like Lululemon and Vuori upping their investment in our sport.

Right. I almost never see people kitted out when I play. The decent players are wearing very basic performance clothing and the higher level players are wearing basketball shorts and cotton tees (@MyFearHand)

It's actually embarrassing to show up looking too nice. I go very basic when playing tournaments, it's all high performance stuff but I wear the most basic colorways

Good point. It is kind of a noob look to show up in the latest tennis gear. I’m a high level player and just wear nice basic shorts (Vuori is my favorite right now) and either a graphic tee or something plain with no logos (or something from the college team I coach).

I have so much "nice" sht that I almost never wear. I'm going to the tournaments in the plainest things I can wear, so I gotta wear my Alcaraz tanks and fluorescent shorts when I play with my Dad and the old farts haha

But yeah if you look all dope and matchy you have to win lol.

Girgor officially endorsed by Adidas for shoes! I always assumed a flow of shoes but no contract given the Lacoste situation. Nike really just letting every top athlete bail, aren't they? They will regret this lol

They have the two brightest and biggest stars in the game locked up for years. I doubt they’re missing Grigor or any of their other old contracts much. Tennis players aren’t as influential as we wish.

I’d argue that LeBron/Kobe helped sell more Nike tennis shoes than Grigor ever did.

That has to be the most stupid comment of 2025, and even so young into 25 could still be come Dec 25.

in a muted colorway they will look better with his kits. Stan back in his prestige pro and barricade days was class

I really don't understand why he doesn't play the black or white colorway...
That red with the Lacoste apparel does absolutely nothing for adidas

Providing he has some decent results I think this is a great acquisition by LLL. Their vibe is so different to Nike's, so it's actually quite jarring seeing Tiafoe playing in their gear right now for the first time, but at least they also have kit with colour that pops. Lack of pattern/design beyond plain basics is going to take some getting used to when seeing Tiafoe.

Agreed - that was my first thought. They're playing with colour palettes Tiafoe likes/has been known to wear which suggests a decent level of attention to him/tennis? Hope they pick up mannnarino or at least send the poor bugger some shirts lol

I don't recall them using textures much with their products so it may just be block colours and he will rock a tank top sometimes too. I'd like to see them try experimenting a little with his gear but at the same time it probably goes against their design philosophy. The pink is a statement colour and it will pop on the AO courts but I think LLL do some bright shiny colours sometimes anyway so it may not just be a Tiafoe thing. I'm not sure which other players are sponsored by LLL beside Fernandez so I'm not sure if they'll also be wearing the same stuff as Frances.

Yeah, their whole ethos is premium fabric and construction but basic colour blocking. So I'd expect that continue - we haven't seen any outrageous designs for Leylah Fernandez or Daria Saville since they signed, but Foe is a much higher profile star, so who knows. Jack Sock didn't really work out as a big signing on the ATP side lol.

Good signing for them and for Foe - would imagine he'll probably get some sleeve sponsors on there too as he seems to have every kind of sponsorship deal you can get after his USO runs.
