Sport watches? Suggestions, problem fixes and help?

So, right now I have an Adidas Peachtree watch. Yes, I originally got it because of Kei Nishikori, but now it is freaking out on me. It is reseting all the time and I don't know why. It is new, a month an a half old, and I don't know what is going on.

I bought it from a seller on Amazon, but my mother threw the box out so I have no idea who that was now. Do you guys have any suggestions on how to make it stop reseting? Is it as simple as a new battery, or is the life of the Peach Tree watch just that bad?

Also, if you guys could since I may be in the position to buy myself another watch, which one would you all recommend? I am looking for something that is fashionable and has a stopwatch and alarm. I am sure that is pretty standard, but what are your guys suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Well first of all try powercycling it - take the battery out and put it back in. Also, did your mother also throw out the order confirmation messages from Amazon from your email? I'm sure you can figure out where you got it. Write to the seller or even the manufacturer - you'd be surprised how much they might care. Don't forget to mention Nishikori in your correspondence.

Thanks for the response. I will try the powercycling tomorrow morning and then if that doesn't work I will raid my mother's email.

So sadly, right now I cannot find a screw driver small enough to take the back plate off of the watch. When I do I will do the powercycle for sure. Hopefully I can find one tomorrow and do it.

Pocky, mine was like $42 I believe.

Also, I am still thinking about other watches too I looked at the Activa AD009-004 just because it was clear and I thought it was cool. I haven't look into it much but it is there. One of my aunt's got me a watch by Kenneth Cole for X-mas too so I am getting that on the 7th. I will probably end up with an army of watches but eh.

my experience has been that sport watches from 'fashion' brands (ie. adidas, nike, etc.) tend to crap out pretty quickly, and you're paying a premium for the name. if you're looking for function and durability, it's hard to beat something like the timex ironman--tough watch, cheap, really bright light.

For a sports watch (running) I have always used the cheapest $5 POS that has a stopwatch and backlight (and sometimes splits, but I never used those much anyway). For most (all) people, the other functions are basically confusing crap that you pay extra for and never use. All of these watches break pretty quickly or need the battery replaced at which point you just toss them out. They are usually pretty disgusting and crusty from sweat and scratched up at that point anyway.

Buy a separate watch for everyday wear and don't wear that one while doing sports. Spend the money to get what you want. It is basically a piece of jewelery.

I thought those two last posts were kind of funny.

Besides that, I just powercycled it, and everything seems to be working fine at the moment. I will post back within the next few days each time, if it does, it resets. If what you guys say is true, I may just run out to target or something and just pick up another $10 one for sports use only.

Thanks.

^ Or instead of the Federer Rolex, you could spend a few extra dinero and get Rafa's watch (it weighs in at just over 3.8 grams).

So, powercycling it did not work, it reset two hours ago. I guess this was $42 wasted. So you guys think I should just go out to a retail store and get the cheapest one I see?

For sports wise Timex should be able to last the wind and grind, for fashion Nixon has a pretty nice range.

NEVER get the cheapest, as the owner of my own major multi continent Retail Brand, I know that we always put the cr@p down there with the lowest price tag and wait for the cheapo's to buy it. So dont do that.

Get the second cheapest one.

I'd agree with this.

The Timex Ironman is a good choice too. They aren't that expensive either.

But, buy a new one. There is a reason why some guy is selling his used one. I think you found out why with your last purchase. Now you are $40 down and still have no watch.

I actually bought the last one new.

In other news, I went out and bought a Timex 1440 for sports just because it was $7 and I had a gift card for Dick's.

If you want it for the fashion, get a good looking one.

If you want to tell the time, get an inexpensive one that is waterproof.

If you need a stopwatch (not for tennis) then get one that has convenient buttons.

OK. Don't buy it from a seller on Amazon that says it's new. A new watch should not crap out in 45 days. My last $10 watch is still running fine after 5+ years (I actually bought it on a cruise ship).

So is amazon like a classier flea bay? I'm still only 17 and very uneducated on internet shopping.

No, Amazon is fine.

But the "Amazon sellers" can be anyone. Most are reputable, but I wouldn't buy electronics, etc. from these guys even if they said the item is "new". I'd buy books from them though.
