st. vincent or no?

hey guys, i found this 6.0 85 sq in. in my garage and was wondering if it was a st. vincent or not...i dont have pictures but i will describe it to the best of my abilities

- no headguard
- has original fairway grip
- has a red dot at the top of the head on the inner side
- has two stickers inside the throat, one saying "4 1/4 (L2) String at 65-70" and the other saying "Weight/Oz. 11.6-12.3 Unstrung Balanced 1.0-1.5 in. Headlight"
- has a white buttcap w/ the letters GMO or GMQ (faded) i cant tell which
- pws symbol at 3 and 9 o'clock are bevelled, and raise up a lil...you can feel it w/ your fingernails
- only says "pro staff" at the throat
- has midsize written on both sides of throat
- seems to have red primer, but not sure...there's little specks of it on some grommets, but i tried to shave a lil off..but no red primer...how deep is the red primer?

that's all i can see...if theres any more stuff..i'll look for it

Its a chicago model, st.vincent has a headguard and pws info on the throat

U've got ur self the chicago model. And plus st vincents normal tension range is 50-60lbs or 55-65 lbs, Chicago has no headguard, no PWS info on the throat amd tension is 65-70

I'm pretty sure one of the earliest St Vincent models had the 65-70lbs tension recommendation on it...

La Bomba, for your information, the early St. Vincents did not come with a headguard at all.

the ones made in chi town were in my opinion butt cap ended in I like goi......

its neveretheless a great racquet whether its a st.vincent or chicago....urs have a q in the end, more likely its a st. vincent....

i heard some chicago models were shipped to st. vincent to be finished...so more likely urs is a st.vincent..

It looks like the string channels on the outside of the throat of the racquet have a sqaure end. This is another sign that it may be a St. Vincent. The red primer under the paint is another sure way to tell.

Pete Sampras would only play with a PS 6.0 85 made in the factory in St. Vincent, which is in the Granadas, as I recall. The PS 6.0 85s frames were also made in a factory near Chicago and later in China. Anyway, the St. Vincent models are said to have a unique feel because of the layup of the graphite layers in the frame. Search on here for the keyword St. Vincent and you'll find lots of earlier posts about it.

Very recently, I played with the China model and the Chicago model I believe. The China model was much better even though it had cheap strings and a slippery grip. It had a larger sweetspot and less vibration when missing the sweetspot. Weight and balance were pretty even, but if there was a difference, I'd say the Chicago model was a tad heavier

The last River Grove, Illinois, model that I played was both much heavier (13.0 ounces strung) and much more headlight than St. Vincent or China frames. Also, much more flexible. The balance and flex makes for a lower and smaller sweetspot. That is not to say that it played like a nice classic frame. Anyway, there's also much difference among the cosmetics and perhaps specs of individual River Grove models.

Under the Chicago model? I don't/know remember. The dude who had them took very good care of them(and also rarely played) so the racquet didn't have(many)chips.
